Her explanation of where she got the fairy lore is very much what I expected. I loved Briggs' work on fairies, and all the footnotes in Strange & Norrell reminded me so much of the old (literal) fairy tales and their bizarre nature. She has a real knack for taking the spirit of magic and fairies, and running with it to create her own mythos, and I love it. Maybe why she resonates so well with Neil's work too.

As far as comment, slightly baffled that she takes her glasses off when she's reading but puts them on when she isn't. Is that the result of a spell that went wrong?

I heard that she has been working on the sequel of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell since 2004. Since it has been more than a decade since then, the book must be close to completion.
