Brian Keith's given name was Robert. He wisely changed it, and as this video shows, Hollywood had a glut of Roberts. That four of the big ones are all in one show demonstrates this...

Strangely enough, Mitchum got into hot water many years later for making anti-Semitic remarks during an interview.

I read that this was first a story against homosexuality. The studio changed it to Anger against a Jewish man.

This is correct. The original story was a novel called ''The Brick Foxhole'' by future director Richard Brooks. When Brooks sold the story to RKO, the studio changed the victim from a gay person to a Jewish person because homosexuality could not be mentioned in Hollywood fbilms in 1947.

@@friendsofthegerund7693 Semites are a large group of Mideast peoples who trace their origins to the Biblical Shem, who is the progenitor of the ancient Arab, Jewish, Assyrian, Babylonian, etc tribes.

@@cushiterevenge5696 Prophet and Josephus both agreed that the occupants of Jerusalem were no longer of the same kind as the Israelites, even though claiming the status of "jews" while they abode there. Jesus #1 of 2 made reference to them in Revelation 2:9 and 3:9. Those of the Northern Kingdom, who escaped across the Caucasus from Assyrian captivity, into Europe, became the forebears of the Children of the Reformation and the Great Migration into Beulah Land east of the Pillars of Heracles between two oceans, and so on. They are allowed to be persecuted by their foes in punishment for dereliction for a time, but afterward the foes who persecuted them are obliterated.
