has a lot of mid-century elements, actually.

I love how airy it feels and how well this home incorporates outside and inside places. A LOT of homes boast of indoor-outdoor living but this one frames it in a very original way. I like the glass box around the staircase and how it was made central in the house instead of being tucked away somewhere - it's original and because it's a glass box, it adds to the light inside and adds an interesting architectural detail. A masterful job, Lorenzo Garizio!

We’re all friends here, right? I couldn’t understand why opening up the house to the north helped with the light because we all know the sun is in the south and that’s where you place the largest windows if you are maximizing light……..that is if you live in the northern hemisphere! I’m a bit slow. But this is a GORGEOUS home and is well designed. I’m sure the family loves it! Hello from Utah. Cheers.

It's in Australia, the southern hemisphere, the light comes from the north for them.

Hi; I live in the South Hemisphere. Normally the design called for the bedrooms to the East; the Living rooms to the NW; service areas; garage and the like to the South (Do not receive the Sun here, However; if you have plenty of money like with this house; you can put a garden (and a pool) in the middle of the house to have Sun all day; or you can. If you live in the middle of a city; with all the houses without separations you still can do that. In some cases, like you cannot like to have an open space there etc; you can put an skylight or like old ones; an sliding skylight.

I don’t know what it is about this home…..but it just doesn’t do it for me…. The garden is lovely but the interior leaves me wanting. They describe it as warm and cosy, but it certainly doesn’t give me that feeling. I appreciate it, but that is all.

I agree, normally I love these contemporary homes but I think for me what makes it feel cold are the concrete floors. The use of wood / timber in this house just seems “off” for some reason.

It has this combo of techno and mid-century. It's original and works well but it's not for everyone's taste. I, personally, also don't see myself living there but I still appreciate how well it's executed for a family that loves that vibe.

Is there any law in Australia about the glass gates around the pool and other water features or just local style?
@laus286
@laus286 Жыл бұрын
We have very strict pool fencing laws so use glass a lot if the pool is close to the house. All pools have to be fenced with approved fences and 90cm from the fence to any climbable objects so you can’t screen them with plants either.
@cweihc428
@cweihc428 Жыл бұрын
If you look closely the water feature is very shallow, probably just 20cm (8 inches) deep.
@laus286
@laus286 Жыл бұрын
@@cweihc428 anything over 30cm in NSW I don’t know about all the states needs fencing so 20 for a water feature is ok

does anyone offer well designed homes within reach of ordinary people. One always appreciates the high end briefs however there is a hunger by many for examples of architecture for the not so well heeled that is innovative and affordable. Help us out here .

I feel allot of Architects over think design in the quest to achieve their own ideals (ego driven) juxtaposed with the clients brief which culminates in sterile spaces and boxes.
