It was not just the chemistry between Luke and Laura it is the chemistry between Tony Geary ad Genie Francis that mad e it work could not just be any actress with him.

I agree, they tried to pair Tony with many others and something was always missing. It's like he could only reach that passionate pinnacle with Genie.

Thanks for posting this special!! As an L&L newbie, it was great to get a general overview of the couple's history and impact on popular culture. I especially appreciated the segment where the rape was discussed and how a love story was able to evolve despite of it, because I just never understodd how the viewers/producers were able to overlook it. I feel a bit more clued in now. BTW sussezq, I am downloading all your clips so I can enjoy watching the love story of L&L offline!!

I remember when JMB started playing Lulu and how much she looked like GF. I wished so badly that they would one day work together and eventually they did.. this shows their first meeting and GF was just smitten with her!! Wish JMB was still on the show!

Yikes. Listening to 2006 Tony Geary and Genie Francis discussing the 1979 disco rape scene is actually somewhat painful. Thank God both actors are much more vocal these days about exactly how horrific the assault was and that it absolutely *was* in fact a brutal rape, no "seduction" or "love" about it at all. I adore the beautiful relationship L&L have with one another and want them to end up together when Genie Francis finally retires for good but my God, that horrific scene still casts a very dark shadow over their love story, even now some 40 odd years later. I wish the whole situation had never been written.

I feel the same. Their love was born out of a huge violation of trust on Luke’s part. They could have slept together with Laura having regrets and backpedaling and it still would have gotten the main point across with her hiding and withdrawing from Scotty.

I watched this when it first came on! SoapNet is the REASON I am and will always be in love with Luke and Laura and L&L are the reason I watch GH, even though I'm on a break now because I'm just not liking the direction anymore!

You know what's weird? I'm really unromantic! I'm in college right now and would totally never date, but something about this couple really sucks me in lol. Just watched the 50th ann. epp lol. I love these two!

If you look over Stuart Damon's shoulder on the left of the picture (his right) you can see a photo of Mr. Damon in drag. That's him - the lady in the red dress! He did something on one of the gag reels with John Beradino dressed in that getup!
