Hey all, welcome to the second video for this Earth month series! A thank you to GoClimate for sponsoring this video guide and be sure to take a look at the blog post for relevant links and additional resources for how to get started. This video is really just the tip of the iceberg as environmental sustainability is a complex matter, but I hope it gives you some ideas to start if you're new. simplybychristine.com/guide/sustainable-living-for-beginners

It's hard living sustainably with your family (in my case) but I remind myself that it's not an all or nothing process and that even the small things count 😊

Thanks for that video! I especially appreciate that you talked about how sustainable living is not only important for the natural environment but also for the well-being of people around the world. Such a good reminder of why we need to consider how we live and how we can practically do that. 🌱

I’ve been a minimalist for past 6-7 years, and I’m constantly tweaking my perspective. Most of my possessions don’t have any duplicates and my wardrobe is minimal as well. I’ve been trying to minimize food waste, plan more and use what I have. The result is..I’m eating more healthy and more conscious of everything, that it involves. One area, I’ve realized I’m not minimalist is my surfboard collection. I do use all of them, but I’m always designing new models, selling one’s I don’t ride and purchasing new ones. Surfboards are highly environmentally toxic, and I want to stop this habit. Your “use what you have,” resonated with me. I can’t stop thinking about it, in a good way. I’m lucky that I have the ability, fitness and desire to enjoy it. But, now, I want to “not desire,” the need for more. And want/desire is something to look at, as it brings a lot of negativity and discontentment to one’s life. Keep bringing your journey…it does reach people. Thank you so much

Love your videos Christine! I wanted to add that indigenous populations thrived for thousands of years living in harmony with Mother Nature - colonization and capitalism (and as you mention here, the subsequent industrialization) within the past two hundred years has caused the incredible harm that we are now fighting against. Thank you for touching upon environmental racism! Excited for your next video!

A rear rack could turn your bike into an awesome grocery getter. You can DIY some panniers from old reusable grocery bags.

Thanks for the tip! Right now I'm mostly using zero grocery so get most foods delivered, or walk to the nearby grocery store. (:

Hi Christine , I love your video as always, It's remind me as international relations student, the world also has a plan called SDG's Sustainable Development Goals that contain 17 aspect for our good living. It prove that the world as a community under the United Nations is taking a step further to sustainability too. Maybe it can be the idea for one of your next video .. XD

Sustainable living is being able to feed yourself and your homestead. For real tips on those subjects come check out the channel. While creating a lifestyle shown in this video is important, take it that extra step.

Thank you for your video. I notice that you store your pantry items in refillable glass jars which I love and also do. I visit my local plastic free, refill store a couple of times a month. I really hate it when I see KZfaqrs and Instagrammers refilling glass jars from a plastic packaged just for the aesthetic and not refilling for the sustainable benefit.

As a Christian I believe that God has given us the ability and knowledge to care for the earth as He would want us to. Im a firm believer that our impact and influence will help make our planet a better temporary home for us and others until God recreates the perfect heaven and earth, until then, lets do our best to make planet earth safe and clean ❤.
@omo193

I agree with most but I think the idea that god will create the perfect earth is stopping people from taking immediate action. So as long as people remember to take action into their own hands I agree.

First month of offsetting free? Apart from the almost pointless offsetting idea, how does making a free donation make any sense? What are you donating? We're buying feelgood fluff thoughts and getting some free feelgood fluff thoughts, not so?
