I loved this video! I just found out that I'm pregnant and I want to be a sustainable mummy but no-one around me or in my family has gone through pregnancy being sustainable so it's amazing what I'm learning from your videos! Thank you so much for sharing!

Agreed with most of the things you said of things being marketed as a baby related item, but is actually just a normal item with minor changes. Except the maternity pillow - I am 8 1/2 months pregnant right now and that thing has been my ride or die. It's a life saver. But, in all fairness I think I will still be loving it even after baby.

Awesome list and recommendations. I always loved my cloth diapers and wipes...even when my friends all thought I was crazy!

Couldn’t agree with you more. When I had my two boys I happily accepted anything other parents offered to me. I continue to buy second hand even now they are 12 & 11 wanting sports brands (get the, from eBay, fraction of RRP). I remember feeling pressure and judged to have all new latest things

second hand all the way :)) are your boys accepting of this? ive only got young and do wonder how it'll be with older ones x

It’s more difficult as the lads yet older, but they know my view on second hand and actually they regularly sell their stuff on eBay to raise some spends for themselves

My little guy grew out of footed onesies way too fast, I had to cut the feet off! The second hand market for slings and woven wraps is also awesome... plus a second hand sling or wrap is nicely broken in and soft. I bought a cot and basinette, however they just became storage areas as my son just came straight into our bed 🤦🏼‍♀️

I can't believe people still flush baby wipes. The word 'flushable' should be banned from every product! (I mean there are countries where you can't even flush toilet paper because their pipes are so old and thin).

i agree re banning that word! thanks for watching lauren :) x

This is crazy, I totally agree and believe we should make more of a fuss about it to hold companies accountable.

Thanks for Sharing ❤️ My budget doesn’t allow me to choose organic. Many videos I seen always suggest organic. Yes to second hand and hand me downs. Would love to see a minimalist toy video as well.

Great video! On the issue of second hand vs. new baby mattresses for cribs, I thought quite a lot about it just before I was due to give birth. All my friends who were parents already who I asked said they bought a new mattress for their first borns (and maybe reused for subsequent babies) and I shouldn't buy second hand under any circumstances; that's what online material I read also said. In the end, we borrowed a next-to me crib and mattress for from a neighbour (it lasted our baby for about 12 months then she outgrew it) and then bought a 2nd hand high quality cot and mattress from gumtree. We washed all sheets etc. and steam cleaned both mattresses before use to kill off any germs, etc. Haven't had any bed bugs or illnesses from mattresses so far...

We had many of our wishes fulfilled off of our registry but were given so many extras 😭 disposable breast pads when I had reusable ones on the registry, a wubbanub (which they can't even use for a few months), etc. I love using Poshmark and Mercari for secondhand. I got a crib mobile and some wall art off of those apps and it felt good! I also know I will sell everything he grows out of once we're done. I'm 39 weeks today!!

Thank you for sharing. I am on my 4th pregnancy right now and I am gearing towards minimalist kind of when it comes to baby things. But yet sustainable. I don't want to buy too many things that would just end up not being used. I too buy second hand baby clothes. They grow up so fast and why waste money on brand new ones when I can buy still good as new clothes at the thrift store. I too use cloth diapers. :)

I've already got two children, but my husband and I have decided to try for a third child sometime over the next year. This video was so helpful since I, sadly, wasn't as aware of eco friendly options and the impact of non-eco friendly options 6 and 9 years ago when I had my first two children. Thank you so much for all of the lovely tips and suggestions!

Love this video you are amazing totally agree with you .we found ,Glass or the kleen kanteen baby bottles are a good compromise on the plastic ones my baby is now 5 days old and unfortunately my breast milk and colostrum didn't arrive the midwifes think its down to the hormone s used it labour and after I'm not upset but just wanted to say if you can't breastfeed it really isn't anything you have done and dont stress over it here are lots of other things that can be done to live sustanibly my lo is too small for even the newborn cloth nappies so we are using naty as a compromise till he gets bigger but we are using cloth wipes instead of cotton wool

Totally agree with everything. Personally myself I wouldn’t use frozen blueberries (choking hazard maybe) we love sheep skins total thumbs up. I didn’t buy anything for baby. If you have very little money you can do it for free. It’s a great challenge go for it! Great vid

Yeah, I totally regret buying anything but footed-sleepers for the first three months. Why do we dress up our kids anyway, all they need are some Dungarees to play in and maybe a nice dress or suit for church. Kids are not fashion accessories obviously and they are completely unconscious of their appearance and it's just an expense to doll them up every time we take them to the park. Dungarees are just adorable anyway.

Hi, sorry for slow reply. Thanks for getting back to me. I use a range of nappies; little lamb 2 part system, baby boo, thirstiest, popin, totsbots, Alva and blueberry. I find the popin are the best and no leaks. Also little lamb are good but so bulky my little one struggles to sit. The rest always leak and are very bulky, not as bulky as little lamb. She's 6 months now and wearing some 6-9 month cloths so she should be big enough. Size was def a problem when she was younger. I found some info that said I might be putting the on too tightly which causes the liquid to squeeze out. I've loosened them off, this seems to help a little. Still some leaks but not as bad. Trying to use reusables all day and keep disposable for night. Any other tips for leaks? I need to get myself in s better system. Thanks again!

Reusable breast pads are no good for me. They leaked all the time. But otherwise love all these options.
