July 2022 - As we endure the hottest days on record, does our caravan fridge cope ? A tour around the lovely caravan and motorhome club site. A look at Mablethorpe and Sutton on sea and also the dog friendly beach areas.

Great video. We were just up the road at Woodthorpe Leisure Park during the heatwave for a couple of days and did the same as you and just stayed put. The garden centre across the road had air conditioning in the cafe so we managed a trip over there. Safe travels

Thank you very much Dave & Helen. We kind of lost half our holiday with the heatwave 😎 but we enjoyed what we did. The mic came in handy whispering at 7am around the site. I’m beginning to get the hang of it now and quite honestly couldn’t have filmed this breezy holiday without it. At last after three years the fridge ventilator made an appearance and I know it works 🥶 Best regards Rob & Gail

First of all Rob, many congrats on your 2k subs - well deserved and here’s to ever increasing numbers . Excellent vlog ( as usual) and we are watching it from our van pitched at Serenity in Whitby ! We were in York when it was at its hottest and fortunately the fridge was out of the sun so it coped fine ( just). Thanks again for excellent content well presented. Regards Howard

Just shows you. Especially when decent weather. People want as much use out of the pitch as possible. I think 1pm is late when they are kicking you off early morning.

Do you know sparkmeister, even though we had to endure the extreme temperatures we still had a damn good holiday. We had the perfect shady pitch for sitting out and our fridge didn’t pack up! Yes we preferred the old 12:00pm arrivals but unfortunately times have changed. Thanks for watching and all the best, Rob & Gail 😀

@@robswiseways5697 I've stayed there twice. And second time was on the smallest "non awning" serviced pitch. I'm sure they have changed it to non awning as complaints must have been brought up. It's a awful pitch.

@@sparkmeister4706 These seaside sites get away with all sorts. They know they will fill the pitches. Overall it’s a good site though.

@@robswiseways5697 it is. They were mostly accommodating when the wind was bad and I wouldn't travel till it calmed.

Hi Rob the star attraction for Sutton on sea has got to be those empty promenade and beaches looks lovely we’ve just got back from 2 weeks in Cornwall the parking and beaches were packed and expensive

Hello Sheila It’s not often you can escape the crowds at the seaside in summer and we thoroughly enjoyed the quiet walk along the prom into Sutton. We had the beach to ourselves walking back. Congrats on the 2k subs Rob, great video. We've given up on the CAMC club sites, not for us anymore especially with the lack of pitch respect. Grass pitches seem a lot better certainly for size on a lot of the club sites but of course you don't get fully serviced.

Thank you very much Alan. We do tend to book a mix of sites, sometimes club sites win due to their location but we do tend to book more independent sites and CLs. Seen a few serviced CLs with grass pitches during our searches but have yet to try one out. Cheers for watching and all the best, Rob

Now that was a right cracking video! Very clever, very informative, and I do wish Mrs Happy Pensioner could handle a camera like Gail can! Right, now here comes the criticism. With reference to your fish and chips in Mablethorpe. Could you not get a bigger piece of fish for heavens sake!!!🤪😜😂 I mean, crikey Moses, them fish were Mahoosive! I eat like Shergar used to do, but I would have struggled with them ones! Hey ho, keep up with the vids you two!

Pleased you enjoyed our video I think we’re getting the hang of it now ! Oh yes the fish… we went to Mablethorpe for the day last year and they mistakenly cooked three fish instead of two, so we had a free one as well and we ate the lot 😋. We were going to buy a beach hut there. They had just stared listing the improvements. Well we didn't get it asit wanted way to much work & ££. So we bought a caravan instead. That was 4 yrs ago. No real work happening at Sutton. Glad we got van instead! Can't be doing g with the regimentation of that site - doent look friendly. PS I think you parked your car the wrong side of your van!!! They'll chase you 🤣

Hi Linda, Looking at the website work still hasn’t started on the improvements but they hope to complete by Easter 2024, We filmed the touring site very early one morning, whispering through my microphone so not to disturb those still in bed ! The site is typical caravan club layout which we have grown accustomed to expect but we chose it for the location. Because we don’t have an awning I’ve always parked on the awning side so I think it’s acceptable to park the car on either side of the caravan, nobody has ever said anything in 10 years of caravanning 🙂. Even with a fan on the fridge, caravan fridges are always poor at doing their job.We fitted a fan on the vent as well and it still isn't very good at all in warmer weather The lack of using a proper compressor fridge, the caravan makers say, is because of noise. if that was the case campervans and motorhomes wouldn't have them either. We get around the caravan fridge problem totally now, by towing the caravan with a 5 4 metre camper van, fitted with a proper compressor fridge. We daisy chain an electric hook up to the campervan for the fridge for long term use, from an external caravan power outlet. The campervan is a perfect tow vehicle also, with better frontal aerodynamics over the caravan, from the campervan and the extra weight means no passing vehicle suck either. Plus you have cooking and tea making facilities, whilst out and about and a place to flop mid day if you want to also.

Hi Steve, I like the idea of towing with a camper van and always liked the VW California. I fitted the fridge fan due to the hotter summers and not because there was a cooling problem. Our Sutton on Sea holiday is the only time I’ve noticed the fan running but that was some heatwave 🥵. Our ice cream always stays frozen and everything else cold. I have the cooling level on 3 (out of 5) during the summer and 2 during the colder months. I’ve heard of fridges overheating during hot weather when the grilles are inside an awning though.
