It happened to me as well. The problem was beacuse I was indoors. All around me was iron (in the concrete) and the watch did not calibrate the proper way. Try it outdoors and tell me if it was better. If not tell me if tge same thing happened and I'll see if I can help you. About the strap.. With the old rubber straps, yes they are crappy. You can't really use them for 1, 2 or more years. The new SILICONE straps are a little bit more "premium". Suunto core is a good watch. For compas check out for any iron and magnets and do not calbirate it indoors. And yes my video was a little bit wrong and beacuse I was indoors (that's why the watch needed so much time).

@@SuuntoSportSubscribe It happens to me indoors, outdoors and even in the woods. Once I was on the way through the woods at night to the railway station. I had to go east. When I noticed east was in all directions I put the bike away and started the calibration dance. After 2 Minutes of turning clockwise I got more directions - still wrong but I noticed that later. I almost missed my train. In my kayak that could have killed me. By the specs the core is great for watersports but calibration on a kayak or sailing dinghy is only possible if you open the strap. (If you capsize during calibration the core is lost.) The strap is too short to wear it over a wetsuit, a drysuit or drycag seal or gloves. I've put aluminum bronze wire (CuAl8 non-magnetic and sea water (sweat) resistant) in the holes and use a velcro cable tie. I bought a silicon strap last week but I think I will send the core again to the service for compass repair before I attach it. I should send it to the service until they replace the steel back (it's stainless (contains chromium) but still magnetic (not containing as much nickel as bottles, pots and similar stainless non-magnetic steel stuff)) with something better (plastic, aluminum, brass, bronze... It should be resistant to sweat and sea water).

@@SuuntoSportSubscribe It's definitely not about steel reinforced concrete. Even if there is a bias in the earth magnetic field a real compass would not show the same heading when you turn it, it would show the biased field.
