I liked Hifuu Last Word much more than basic story and for the most part I’m collecting characters for those bits of lore they give about their alt. universes. Yes, I agree that sometimes (more often than I would prefer) characters designs look lazy, but I still find ideas behind them quite interesting. Also, I guess I’m just a very lucky person, because I got 7 UFE characters without donating (not like I even can) and I don’t really play that much, just half-one hour a day.

Actually, i like this game. Unlike some generic RPGs made to popularize animes, LostWord haves very interesting mechanics that make the game very fun and different. Yes, it is not a giga amazing game, nor a game to everyone since it can get boring, but stills very fun.

Since you havent seen the hifuu story i give you a quick review B3: great introduction to maribel and renko and good tragic story with the mecha girls minus the infinite grazes asspull Bm3: the worst main story. Alter lunarians are blatantly cashgrabs, maribel and renko are annoying and nothing make sense except the ending E9:is a short story because of the hunting setting but a entertaining one i wish i could see more of these characters

As an omega whale who has rolled literally every character (yes even Bluemu) to a 5* brick at 100, I will say this much: Touhou Lost Word is hands down THE MOST F2P friendly game that gives you an insane amount of options for earning your favorite characters and rolling on banners. The challenge content is challenging and invites great community interaction, and the farming is a lot more forgiving than you let on. Optimizing stage farms become very easy and the fact that BlueStacks runs great with TH:LW means you can set up the auto replay in the background on your computer rather than burning your phone battery, with seamless transition between them.

After "living" in the world of Fate/Grand Order and spending some amount of money to get Ishtar (yes!) and Gilgamesh I have to say that any gatcha game is merciful compared to Fate. Its rates are brutal and pity system nonexistent. I started to play Touhou LW about a week ago and at first I was surprised how generous the game was for beginners and how easy it is to lvl up the chars to lvl 70. As FGO veteran I was also surprised by farming system that lets you autofarm. I wish this was possible in FGO as well... Without autoclicker tools that is... Story of TLW is decent and its the reason I started to play the game. Since I suck at danmaku games I never knew the story of my favourite characters so I wanted to know more. Which brings me to where the game really touched my heart, which is what brought to Touhou as such. I was excited when I found out that the music is made by doujin artists I know and love (although no EastNewsound yet). I wonder how long will my excitement last.

as a day 1, free-to-play player who is okay with farming, never spent money on it and never got bored of the gameplay My main problem *is* the Gacha system, but I definetly appreciate the fact that you get the character you're pulling for guaranteed at some point (most of the time... thanks, Blue Reimu. I still don't like your gacha system in particular.), as well as the resources being easy to gather, makes it not that bad. The story's really enjoyable to me, the challenge content is fun, and it's overall a nice part of my daily routine that I don't think I'll get tired of. I understand the concerns people have with this game, but I personally find it a very enjoyable experience.

Great video. Don't really have anything else to say really. This game and Luna Nights is what got me into the series and while I can't say that I've played the main series games (put them on consoles, cowards) I've really come to love this series and it's characters. So even after I stop playing Lost Word, I'll be eternally grateful to it for that reason. That and I don't feel like reposting my 2 a.m. rant from the other day, lol.

For what it's worth, I didn't get bored instantly from this game. It just took a few months of burnout before an uninstall. I even made a few videos about it. Mostly because of personal Touhou bias. But at the end of the day, Lost Word is just another gacha with Touhou plastered all over it. The sad truth about modern mobile games is that they're all just another uninspired gacha milking fans. And Touhou coming to the App Store is a cheap excuse for secondaries that can't play any of the real games. ZUN should've ported POFV to phones instead. That would've been awesome.

This game changed my life!! I had no idea that this nearly 30-year old series existed until I got into it. I think I played it nearly every day for 7 - 8 months, until finally I had enough of stressing about missing logging into the game each day, & I was so addicted, I wasn't finishing other games my dad actually bought for me! But, even months after not playing this game any more, I have 4 playlists for music & spend half of every week searching for more Touhou stuff! I even got one Fumo of my Nb.1 favorite, Marisa Kirisame (Modern), for my birthday!

Playing ever since launch. Its not a game for everyone to be fair, though i think the rates are actually pretty good compared to other gacha games. No, its not a godly game. It has its flaws. But i think its a genuinely fun game when you get into it.

despite it being gacha, i think touhou LW has one of the best gacha systems of any other gacha game. that doesnt make it being a gacha good, but this game gives 3 pulls a day for a 150-250 pull pity while other games i've played have a 1 pull a day 300 pull pity or genshin's less than 1 pull a day 90 pull 50% pity chance, which (for a player like me who constantly saves for pity) is more than enough for me to get the characters i want. this can of course vary from person to person cuz im really only a fan of certain characters, but i still would vouch for this gacha system at least above others (especially considering this game is singleplayer so it's less competitive and people can just pull on characters they like). i also feel like it's easier to be f2p in this game cuz they constantly give stuff away, so as long as you're patient you'll get what you want. however, it still exploits peoples' impatience and desire to gamble, and for people that do spend money the exchange rates seem more expensive than other games. because of that i wouldn't say it's greatest mobile game, but i still personally enjoy playing it at a casual level (well casual for lvl 100+ but still) and think it's pretty great in my opinion.

9:09 I've actually found out that the design for the Witch of Scarlet Dreams Marisa likely took its color palette from Scarlet Weather Rhapsody/Hisoutensoku's alternative color palettes. An alternative color palette for Youmu that's identical to the Mysterious Sword Master outfit and sword also exists. Similarly, Antimony of Common Flowers has a blue Reimu alternative color palette that likely inspired God Summoning Shaman Reimu's color palette though given it's basically just a single color swap that's left to the imagination.

8:02 - I understand the point of the fandom participating in a game being a good thing but I also want to see a Touhou game that has an entirely unique soundtrack instead of relying on popular groups. Don't get me wrong, I love hearing music from doujin circles but I feel like it takes me out of games sometimes though again, I suppose that's entirely personal preference. Though if you ask me the problem I have with the game is that it ends up being more popular than the OG Touhou, which isn't the first time (i.e MoP) but I've seen many people recite Lost Word as canon, only because it's officially licensed. On top of this, I've often seen people who play this game being reluctant to try other stuff. Maybe I ended up seeing some bad eggs and that's not the majority but I can't really be sure about it. Also, I feel like the whole multiple universe story can sometimes be used as a shield to allow some...questionable writing. I've also got a problem with how aggressively the game was marketed. I remember ads popping up before every video showing characters and blasting music into my ears. It felt really annoying after a certain point and I assume that's why I'm so bitter towards the game now on top of all the fuss that's happening every time a character's released, etc. In a way, you make a lot of comparisons with Fumos in that video and I sort of agree. The game in itself is...inoffensive but it's the overexposure and overadvertising, spreading every corner of the community that made it extremely polarising. In the same way that Fumos are being sold for high prices and overexposed as well. I don't know. Maybe I have trouble seeing how characters are getting depicted, maybe it's just not the game for me but overall I don't how Touhou follows more and more of the gacha formula. It's just tiring to see characters being thrown in as..."anime character n°063" if you see what I mean. We went through Cannonball, Lost Word, Danmaku Kagura and a couple of announcements that show they are ready to do more gacha games. But then again, maybe that was the case from the start and I'm just too attached to certain things.

Thanks for the tip on exchanging scrolls, helped deal with Reimblue's absurd item requirements I am level 171 and spent 185 bucks on it and no I'm not proud of it. My biggest issue was at the start of this year where it would crash 9/10 times on boot and 9/10 when trying to do anything. Gratefully it's been fixed, but that was around 3 months of being broke, at least on my Android I think it's a great way to jump in though. Free is accessible, you get plenty of flavor text, and the art/music slaps so goddamn hard

One thing to add about the pity system made from paperclips and bubblegum is friends in the General Pool (basically the list of friends you can randomly obtain 24/7) will occasionally be given a 50 roll discount if they are being put on a re-run banner. It doesn't happen *all* the time, but when it does it usually means you can get the friend you desire much quicker. Another thing to mention, as of yesterday (which makes this video sorta outdated) FES friends from the L1 Universe will be added to the General Pool periodically starting with the friends included the Sages of Gensokyo Re-Run banner that is currently happening. FES Friends will be added periodically starting mid-to-late August so if you have a specific FES friend you're looking for or need please wait warmly for them to be added to the General Pool. I doubt they would add variation characters like Alterisa or Dark Youmu to the General Pool given that they aren't from the L1 Universe. *Another* thing to mention is Epic Friends and Relic Friends. Epic Friends are unable to be sparked, which means those who want P2 Reimu or any future Epic Friends will need either tons of Seal Crystals or tons of God Crystals to get an Epic Friend. Relic Friends however are actually friends from the MVs (Music Videos) that have getting released periodically here on KZfaq. The first Relic Friend is Remilia Scarlet from the Heat of My Fingertips MV that also got a rather weak cover a few months ago. Relic Friends require 350 points to be sparked, so if you want Remi's L80 counterpart you'll either need lots of luck or lots of Seal/God Crystals. It should also be noted that Both Epic and Relic Friends don't use Devine Paper Dolls, Epic Friends use Epic Paper Dolls and Relic Friends use Relic Paper *Disks.* Not dolls like every other friend, disks. Which makes it all the more confusing for casual players. Thankfully each doll/disk type that gets announced will available to be purchased from the Fortune Dust exchange monthly and there are plans to make both Epic Paper Dolls and Relic Paper Disks easier to obtain. You can check the Dev Letter that premiered yesterday on the official Touhou LostWord KZfaq Channel for more info or check out the official Discord and SubReddit for Touhou LostWord 'cause I'm not going to try and remember *everything* that was said on those sites.

A point you forgot to mention: When you use the god crystals / rainbow cubes for the banner, you have a 10% chance to pull the banner unit. Any roll on that 10 pull has a 5% of being a unit, and whenever a unit pops on that 10 roll, EACH of those units is a 10% chance to be the banner unit, with a guaranteed unit on the 10 slot. Compare that to FGO where you have summon tickets as your only means to earn rolls, and spending 30 Saint Quartz for a 1% chance to get a 5* unit, and the ‘rate up’ for the 5* is 0.8% to get that unit. So your odds of getting ANY banner unit (ufes or fes or just a normal rate up) is 10% PER unit rolled in Lost Word compared to a 1% chance to even get a roll on the banner unit in FGO. Which can also get spooked by the large unit pool of 5* characters.

one of my own personal problem with the game I don't see being talked about much is how repetitive units can get While there is still a dense enough layer of strategy to this game (what units work well with one another or what elements do they have to counter what units, for example) the gameplay boils down to "break barrier, stun, big damage, repeat" and the main difference ends up being in what fashion they do this; like heck, if you check Gamepress's tier list, the briefed arguments for a lot of the local high/top tiers will say "huge Last Word damage, farms well" I just kinda wish this game encouraged more playstyles - sure you have supports and tanks, but both these archetypes end up being more redundant and on top of that the speed type units just end up being nukes with high Slicing values; at the end of the day attack types with easy barrier breaks and bigger damage are all the rage Sure units try to stick out through the countless different effects bullets can have (Killers, Hard/Slicing, Elastic, Anomaly Breaks, etcetc) but the way the game stacks numbers doesn't really allow you to feel like any of these playstyles do anything distinct. This is definitely just part of how the gameplay works and thus unable to be fixed unless it's thoroughly revamped somehow, but it still bothers me yknow

A great video with great points. Despite its issues and theres so many to name, I still really enjoy it. There's something about it that's charming in my eyes. I think the music is amazing. Seeing some characters who do not have much of a personality or dialogue get some shine is cool. The story is different but I actually didn't hate it. I think it's an interesting spin. Grinding for cubes and everything else can be a pain but the game is very generous compared to most so I don't complain that much. However, it gets repetitive and a grind just like all gatcha. Yet I find that I usually just need a break and I go back to it and feel better. It's absolutely not perfect but I'd be lying if I said I didn't spend hours just listening to the music or playing around with my favorite characters. It's even gave me some new favorite characters I didn't really think about before. Even with all its issues I'm having a lot of fun with it and I'm glad it exists.

Personally for me yea i think the packs and gacha system is pretty shit, but to top it off on all of that, the AMOUNT of characters realeased every week. Like jesus can they give us some time to relax and save up, its like they expect every player to have 10k cubes at their disposal.

I've always felt that the best thing about touhou is that every character is basically equal in power in gameplay, everyone has a million bullets, and everyone dies in one hit. So you get to have fun with any of your favorite characters! Even in fighting games someone like cirno is equal to someone like yukari, But a gacha game gives characters flat stats, meaning you're simply not allowed to use your favorite characters if they're not a God in lore AND stats, you can't use wriggle or sunny milk because they're not SS+ which is just not what touhou is. Personally I feel that touhou gensou clicker is the best touhou mobile game because everyone is equal and only get stronger if YOU decide to make them stronger.

pc98 reimu and marisa appear in hifuu story they're probably going to be released sometime in the future which is awesome

i got into touhou long before lost word release, but for all of my friends who mostly like gacha slice of life games like idolmaster i find that this is the best option because the way it introduces zun's characters is so helpful even if you can onlky recognise reimu and marisa

I was a player since release, but I also quit a long time ago. The grind was horrible, and the combat was not fun. I was only playing for the story (which was pretty cool) and the characters. I tried using an autoclicker to automatically grind for me, but even setting it up and letting it run every day was still too much work for too little gain. The drop rates of materials are horrible outside of the limited daily farming stages, and you'd need a high-level (character, skill AND last word) team with the appropriate elements in order to clear the more challenging grind stages, let alone making it consistent enough to auto. After trying and struggling to progress in the Scarlet Devil Tower, I realized that I was just trading hours of my time every day for zero satisfaction.

I prefer the Lost Word pity system more than Genshin’s pity system. At least you have a 100% chance to get a character (not including EFES) rather than pull 90 for a 50/50 that will always give me other characters I already own rather than the fucking character I wanna fucking get.

As who mainly play JP version, good video. Also I think it’s better to think Event Story as LW Main Story end ig. And imo, while many aspects are tied with Canon, there’s also ton of aspects tied with Fanon. And another note: Sometimes it’s better to consider the thing with JP than Global because Global Skipped a lot of thing Ex. Horismriver Marching Event and many Characters. Also JP already got all Main game Touhou girls to WBaWC and some of UM girls.

Hifuu story is one of the better ones because it shows more of the PC-98 content & outcomes of the world. The main story is good too I mean the one with Yuyuko and Youmu's story made me feel things. The only issue I have is the extra content story of Hifuu. B3 have way too much scientific dialogue and it made me fell asleep.

Speaking as an old whale for the game (and still play it as mostly F2P to this day), the game is definitely fun and the story is what's keeping me going. However speaking only towards the global version, holy shit the amount of premium characters there are pumping out at break-neck speeds is insane. Like, if you're the most unluckiest person on earth, it'd cost you $400+ USD just to have the materials needed to max them out. And that's not even accounting for the "epic" characters with NO MERCY/PITY!

I hate the fact that I need to wait one year for the game starts, and there is the fact when your game crashes and you need to rejoin and wait more one year again.

Everything you said is fine. But in my opinion about the gacha, after playing G.I for almost 2 years and ended up selling out my account, i can say that G.I is miles away from being so forgiving like Lostword. Sure, at 90 you can have a 50-50 chance to get the featured characters. But it's a 50-50!! And the amount of grinding you will have to make to save up for a character took like months, while in Lostword i can just save up for a month and have enough for maybe 2 to 3 characters i wanted or liked. Capped at 150 is fine since it's easy to save up SCs (on average i can make 35 cubes a day with little effort to put in) and since it's a GUARANTEED you will get that character, rather than saving for months and ended up losing to a 50-50 chance (i missed Zhongli, Ayaka and Kazuha because of it, that's why i turned full whale mode on G.I), it's already waaay better than G.I. In Lostword i can just chill and save up my budget since a new character will have their rerun after a month or two since launch day, no rush at all. Now i'm literally just being like that, sitting warmly saving up my cubes and wait until someone i like arrived. A very informative and detailed vid on your opinion, great job!

It's changed so much since last year there's a rythem game and so many new characters i got many from free pulls the one character i prayed a very long time for was C3 Yukari i have her now though i got her at her last regular prayer for her and not a certain type of character

I play it periodically, never really spent any money on it and got a decent amount of characters I liked from it. It's a nice time killer, obviously it doesn't really hold a candle to the heavy hitters in the gacha world like Genshin, but it's decent for what it is I'd say.

I downloaded the game before I was into Touhou. So maybe I played for like a week or 2 and deleted it. A few months later, I was getting into the Touhou games and as I play more games (both canon and fan made) and read more mangas and doujins about touhou I decided to come back and damn I was suprised how confused I am before. Before you start the game you get 10 infinute pulls and get a character. What I got was Udoungein Inaba in which at that time I don't know who the fuck she is. Then I somehow got Okina which I dont really know who but I got the gist that she is important in the story cause she is a God or something. Throughout Chapter 1 I used these 2 to sweep to the game while my 3rd character is either Sanae or Reimu cause I cant deceide. Then I simply left shortly after. God damn I was so dumb back then and now, I can tell that this game is decent with its story and character design. The reason I came back and keep playing until now is because of the story content which I really liked. I usually dont min max games but I can tell you that you can complete story content without busting your characters out which I liked cause I am quite lazy looking at stats and second guessing what their effects really are. Before I knew Touhou, I thought this was a game you can enjoy within a week or a month but now with some knowledge about the Fandom and Canon, I can say that this a well made game despite the Gacha system that I grew very tired to.

I've been playing the game for a while now, and honestly, I didn't have any issues with it. That is until I started attempting the stupid Moon EX stage, and now I'm starting to see some issues with the game. I love seeing my perfect run go down the toilet due to random RNG or random stun that never happened in my original run.

I play Lost Word not for any of the reasons you mentioned, but because I won the Deka Fumo give away. But yeah there's a few things I'd like to see be improved, specifically new permanent banners and rebalancing. I think the problem of not being able to get the friend you want could be somewhat mitigated by having permanent banners of a specific type, atk, heal, def, buff, debuff, destroy. It wouldn't be guaranteed, but still it's better than the 0.079% to get that one specific friend you wanted. Rebalancing probably won't happen because gacha games have to keep introducing stronger characters so that they can draw you in, but I'd like to see some love get sent to some weaker characters, like why is Lily White worse at healing than some ATK units?

I have it . I love it. I have just about everyone I wanted to get. Approaching player level 70. I have a CiRNo who be LeVeL 100 soon. GaCHA PuLLed the BLue ReiMu a short while ago. What keeps me coming back to this game is the music and the artwork. Also several of my units have Thier Last Words now so I can finally challenge more difficult missions and rain down obliteration on enemies who can't seem to take a hint. GaCHA has been very kind to me except for a few occasions. Have 4 reimus. Have 2 AYAs. Have 2 sakuyas. Have 2 CiRNOs. Have 2 Byakurens. Have 3 Reisen Udongees. Have 2 YoriHimes. Have 2 Toyohimes. It was a real adventure trying to train and teach these gals and watching them become more and more powerful with every battle. Now it did give me a loading screen of doom and messed up some of my transactions a few times. And it took too goddamn long for chapter 3 to FiNaLLY End ! ADDENDUM: Chapter 4 is finally here. Had to update. I started updating at fooking 6:00 AM and it took this stupid thing until late 6:50 AM to finish! INEXCUSABLE -!!! I'm done spending money on this game because they done did it now. THEY REALLY DONE WENT AND DID IT. Game full of female characters. What DLC should you expect? Bikinis. They have freaking Yakumo in a bikini now. I still love this game but now I'm feeling conflicting emotions....

I farmed so much in this game that my iPad just stopped working one day. Would I say my 45 MLB Witch of Scarlet Dreams cards (plus a few other farmable cards) were worth it? Well... And about Hifuu LostWord: I personally loved B3, the story with the mecha characters. The EX stage for B3 was confusing at best, and E9 was even more hard to read. But B3 was great. The story of B3 felt like a true mystery novel, with the setting backgrounds being very monochrome and the music feeling ominous. The music was new too, making it feel even more unfamiliar and strange. There's nobody there besides the main character, Maribel, and Renko. The setting was perfect and every aspect of the game worked with each other flawlessly. The story made a lot of sense (as in it explained itself instead of throw loli versions of characters into a room and have them go on and on with boring and confusing bullshit) and felt satisfying to finish, however, with a small thread untied, for a sequel (that unfortunately only made the story more confusing instead of less). There weren't too many characters, either (which is a big problem that some events and later acts of Chapter 3 faced). My only gripe was that the fights could have been more fun, but what was there to be expected for the main story battles? B3 was the best chapter in LostWord, hands down, for me. Overall, good video. I'm glad to see a KZfaqr talk about this game in detail (well, a bigger KZfaqr anyways).

I SWEAR they said that scarlet witch marisa was limited time only- once she’s gone from her super special UFES banner, you won’t be able to get her again! So I fought hard, and was able to get her! Only one tho, so no limit breaks or upgrades or anything… Here I am satisfied, and then a while later… they release a banner with her in it. 😐 Either I horribly misread.. or they flat out lied. I thought I wouldn’t see her again after the first banner, but here we are with PLENTY of reruns.

I like this game but I spent like 300 dollars on it total and now my dad is mad at me (not joking, though he works for some Bitcoin crypto mafia shit so play-stupid-games-win-stupid-prizes I guess) My mains btw in case you care: -Shion Yorigami as my first max limit break and farmer(spamming Poverty Aura and Mischance Scatter) -Star Sapphire as my self-insert since I have brown hair and like space/star stuff(though when I level Utsuho up I intend to replace Star with her because she has an all-target nonspell) -Komachi Onozuka and Keine Kamishirasawa because they're my favorite characters -Joon Yorigami because YA CAN'T HAVE ONE WITHOUT THE OTHA -and Hate no Kokoro as my Heal type

I can say form my play through of this game I End Up Having Ultra Luck Sense I Got Likey More then 8 Ultra Festival Charater in Lost Word and (Got Blue Reimu and L80 Remilla Under General Poll Pity Odds aka 100 Pulls) the only expectation was E9 Remilla That I Had to Spark but everything else was done with no problems so I Actally Am Smashing the Gacha at it own Game sense I Was Using Mostly Just Normal Cube for most of those!

I actually joined that event to get 600 free god crystals and still didn't get any. The story was pretty good, but the pity system doesn't seem to work for me, ever. I have a hard time getting enough crystals of any kind to get the prayers. This has made me tempted to restart the entire game since I have nothing good that I really want to keep and I have already finished the story twice. I mean, Sekibanki is my best character. My team is Marisa (L1), Raisen (L1), Sekibanki (L1 though I'm pretty sure there is only 1 of this character). Then my back group is just random characters for grinding, but tends to involve Cirno (L1), and other that I can't remember. I don't even have time to get event characters because I only resently get 200 god crystals and seal crystal grinding is slow. Plus, money and spirit takes a while to grind too. With a budge of 0 for everything I do, you would think that I wouldn't be playing a gacha game, or even just most modile game in general.
