What do you mean it’s grandfathered? Could you explain in more detail why this bike is carbureted instead of fuel injected? I’m kinda new to bikes and from what I hear fuel injection is superior to carburettor so why didn’t they upgrade?

Duke Nukem it means that when the bike was made it conformed to emissions, as long as they don’t change it in any way it can be sold like that for as long as people will buy it. Yes FI is superior to carbs for the most part. There are some who like carbs because they are mechanical and easier to work on in the field.

Litetrail Hardtail who else makes a super moto though? Or at least popular bikes convertible to a super Moto?

grumpysquid you can convert any dual sport to a SM, just need to buy wheels and tires.

@@grumpysquid If you are looking to convert a bike to supermoto. Any dirtbike will do, may it be a 250cc or 500cc. You could even supermoto a 2 stroke if you want. Keep in mind converted Supermotos like a Honda Crf450r, Ktm 450 exc, Ktm 500 exc, Yamaha wr450f etc etc Are at the end of the day racebikes which means they are as light as possible with the most power. Which means maintance is rated in hours, and trust me it can be alot if its yout only bike. Like oil changes is like every 10-15 hours. You could also buy a Drz 400 which is a supermoto with a street engine which makes, maintance go into regular miles. Other examples Yamaha Wr250R, Wr250X, Honda Crf 250L (not the 450L), Ktm 690 Smr, Husqvarna 701 Smr. (The 690-701 probably the every day use bike cuz they are modern supermotos with all the stuff you could need, but can be pricey)

No salesman techniques, just honest opinions from a guy that has owned plenty of fuel injected and carb bikes, and never had a problem with either. Plus I have a bike with ABS, and have had at least 20 bikes without...and I don't think its necessary unless you're on a heavy touring or sport touring bike. Just opinions, thanks for yours though! ;-)

Very much appreciate the criticism and feedback, it was a review from an honest and realistic standpoint as a lot of mine tend to be. I try to keep them concise and just educate my viewers on what they are getting, then let people try the bikes to make their own minds up! That being said this is also older, and as I continue to make them I continue to try to improve using feedback like yours, so again thank you!

Hahaha yeah it can be a hard bike to find a group for, usually other super motos or dual sport will be the ticket. It's usually more of a solo rider appealing bike for sure.

I just got one mid season last year and I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to anything else lol. I had a Suzuki bandit 1200 and a Yamaha FZ1... Loved the speed and power but there's just something about the sm, I don't think I'll be going back to sport bikes anytime soon

The lack of EFI after all this time is still puzzling to me, but from Suzuki's point of view I think they believe that EFI would raise the price even more, and people continue to buy them year after year even with the carb so I suppose they figure "keep making it the way it is" hahaha

Heavy? It's the same weight as the 300 dual sports which is great. Now CB500x or KLR, those are heavy.

More fun to ride slow things fast, than ride a fast thing slowly.

Not that slow when you rev out every gear, just bought a new 2022 , broke it in nice and slow by the manufacturers recommendation; now I’m over a thousand miles and I rev the S- - t out of it, had a 2009 Yamaha wr250 that I rev the Sh- out and the drz400 is faster; I change my oil at break in period of 500 to 600 miles then every 2,000 miles and my oil is always fresh when I change it. Trust me when I say I make that motor work. I never hold the rpms high, I just hit the limits for a split second frequently lol. She be popping. Love my drz400 sm

To each their own preference on vocabulary choices haha, I find it very "playful" and with a motorcycle I find that nimbleness is often hand in hand with that. Thanks for the feedback and your opinions!
