So the cause of the leak is from the A/C drain pipe which is located on top of the tunnel inside under the heater assembly. There is a black foam gasket that fails allowing the water that is supposed to drain out side the car to leak into the cabin and onto the floor. You do not have to remove the fan or the glovebox to fix this. The white part of the A/C sits in a black plastic cup that clicks into the firewall and the foam gasket seals these two parts together until the foam fails. The FIX ‘ Remove the black plastic cup thing from the engine bay side ( it’s quite awkward and swearing does help) by wiggling it back and forward eventually it will pop out. If you car is fitted with the log drain hose this can now be pushed through the firewall and connected directly to the white A/C drain outlet to where the black plastic cup previously was. Put some sort of sealant on the hole inside where the black plastic cup was to keep fumes/ noise out of the cabin. There should now be a constant puddle of water dripping from the hose onto the ground with theA/C on and not into your car.

Hey man. I'm wondering if you have any Video of that? Is the black plastic cup located near where the guy on this video pushes with his finger that little thing from the engine bay? (Just after the 5:00 min mark on this video)

@@rafaelinuk I don't have a video, but where his hand is in the engine bay is where the black hard plastic cup is fitted from the inside. I believe some model Vitaras are fitted with what you see in his video, a small rubber outlet instead of a long rubber hose .It doesn't matter what the rubber is. It look's like he has removed the black hard plastic cup/beak type thing at the 5 min part and fitted the rubber drain hose to the white A/C housing. You remove what the rubber part is fitted to and fit the rubber part to what's left.

First of all, thank you so much for this info, since it led me to find an alternate fix. When you mentioned that the foam was a gasket it made me think that, the drain system is never under pressure. So, I ripped out the entire old foam gasket. Rolled some good ol' double sided foamy tape (the one used for posters and stuff) and made a new foam gasket. Pushed it in all the way and repeated. No more leak! *given the exposure to heat, this is probably a temp fix, but I'm sure it'd work as well with some high temp caulk or something.

The video doesn’t explain anything really or how to fix the problem. The main fault lays with the design of the evaporator box. The water has to drain up so it pools in the foam gasket area and when the water level rises, water can flow out. Then when the foam rots the water just flows onto the floor. You could push a piece of hose through the firewall onto the evaporator outlet and make a proper seal and never have to worry about it again. Sealer is purely to keep rain water and engine fumes out of the of cabin.

@@behan1969 do you think the gasket can be replaced, will there be chance to pull climate box in a degree that you can put new seal? I think there is updated part which is rubber.

⁠Maybe? I can’t see it being an easy job to pry the heater/ac assembly back though. As the dash is tight up against the unit.

We have a 2013 Grand Vitara and we cannot use the air-conditioning at all because it gets water in the floorboard of the passenger seat. We have had the host replaced at a dealership did not help

Sure the drain is clogged. Otherwise, the water would not return to the cabin. But to be sure you need to remove the glove compartment and see exactly where the water is coming from. In the video I show where the drainage is and how to unclog it. You need to unclog it so that the engine does not break down.

Check the condensate drain pipe from the air conditioner if the clodrain pipe is сgged there is no outlet, this leads to the return of water to the air conditioner box There, this water seeks a way out and begins to flow into the car's interior
