Nice job. I have both a 1993 and a 1994 GSXR1100W that I'm slowly restoring/hot rodding. I simply can't afford the genuine Suzuki parts prices for a lot of the build, but I am grateful that Suzuki hasn't forgotten the old bikes. Bravo to the Corporation for this. Man, I remember that beast. I was an apprentice at a shop in the North end of Toronto when this came from cycle America to us to be prepped for the cycle Canada review. We did a lot of stuff for Suzuki Canada like this and this thing was great. I fell in love with it instantly. I think all I did was oil and filter new tires and wipe it off as per Suzuki Canada's request. I then took it out for a Ripp on the 400 north for about 20 miles. I talked to one of the guys that had beat the crap out of it at Laguna Seca. Even over the phone, I could almost see the big smile on his face as he talked about the two days that he had with it. He said, get it up to about 100, or 160k as it where and drop it 2 gears and dump the clutch and get back to me. I knew exactly what he was talking about without even asking. So, me being a very loose 23 year old did just that and it was my first 100 mph wheelie lol Those where the days. I do wonder how John Daily is doing these days?

I’ve just finished my identical bike, except mine took a whole lot longer than 7 days. Also worth pointing out if you use genuine Suzuki parts like I did you will need a small mortgage. You don’t realise how expensive some of these parts are. Genuine screen, screen bolts and trim £517 🤔

I sold my 1987 gsxr1100 last year as i was fead up with parts being obsolete/ discontinued . I got fead up with buying 2nd hand parts or pattern parts . I am riding a Triumph now but aim to get a gsxr 1990 some time soon as parts im told are easier to find . I had a gsxr 750f in 87 [ shorter swingarm model] and had 4 other slabside 750's along the way til i got my 1100 87 see videos .

And that's how it's done! so cool ...

I've got the 1988 Slingshot model and here in Australia going though he Suzuki dealers parts list it looks pretty grim, can't even get mirrors from them.

Super sweet rebuild of a bitchin motorcycle. Only goes to prove what a shitload of money can do for you but some of us are on a really really tight budget. Thats the way it works i guess!

Not a "restoration" most of the parts you see here in this video are no longer available from Suzuki, this looks more so like it was disassembled and put back together for show. But besides it is an absolutely beautiful example of a Non U.S spec 1985 GSXR750

i like how he says you can end up with a result like this?..more like if you spend about 5k in parts spend extra getting the parts cleaned and power coated ..machining parts painting the plastics and replacing everything that is rubber,, you can have a ALMOST 10k restored motorcycle

Sorry, but like others, I question the veracity of the term 'restoration' when it looks just like a major service, etc. Where was the 1985 GXSR sourced from? Looking carefully at the video that must be about the best example of a 1985 GSXR in the UK let alone most of the world and I suspect with very low milage.
