Oļegs. Thanks for watching! One interesting thing about the Jimny is that there is something basic and retro about it that makes you want to do things to it. What other new car has only 2 small speakers in the front as standard? That makes it affordable to buy and fun to play with. Even with all the extras I have fitted, the car is still less than 1/2 the price of my last Defender...

Thanks for the video. I fitted 6.5” speakers in mine. I used 7mm plywood instead of the steel plates. Filled the whole cavity with soundproof wool and it really sounds amazing. Great that Suzuki already supplied the wiring. One comment though, are you aware of the fact that you can I clip the rear safety belts at seat level? Just put the ignition key in the slot and pull it up to where a strap is provided to keep it in place. Very handy when you use the rear space for camping gear. Take care and enjoy your Jimny

Hi Norman! Thank you so much for sharing all these Jimny videos. The Jimny has become a 4X4XFavourite here in South Africa and I recently bought a JB74 Jimny and have followed all your instalation instructions for upgraded front and new back speakers, etc. Brilliant DIY content! I have just installed a reverse camera and wanted to ask whether you had any advice on where I should take power from to activate the reverse camera while driving forward? I have a camping trailer, and a motorcycle trailer that I'd like to keep an eye on while driving. The intention is to run a power line through a push button switch on the dash, to power the camera at whim.... What should I look at for power source, and should I include a relay?
@highergroundlifestyle Жыл бұрын
Michael, many thanks - and greetings from Scotland! There are a couple of things to think about here. Firstly, is it legal in SA to have a live camera feed visible to you when driving? I don’t think it is in the U.K. Assuming it’s not a problem, you’re ideally looking for a switched live somewhere near the camera. The rear cameras I’ve installed take their power feed off the reversing light so only come on when reverse gear is engaged. Were I looking for a switched live to have the camera on all the time I’d probably take it from the 12v accessory socket in the rear. It’s easy to get the panel off and it’s not far from where the camera will be. That’s probably your best option and I don’t believe you’d need a relay - although I probably would put an on line fuse in just in case. If you wanted an additional switch to turn the power on or off you could probably take that off the fuse box to save you running cables from back to front but make sure the fuse only relates to the rear 12v accessory socket. Let me know how you get on! Best wishes. N
