It bothers me quite a bit that I didn't manage to get decent audio results with this bike because the SV650 was one of the most requested models from you guys. I can't choose the bikes I get to try so I was even more happy I got just this model by chance. Well. It is what it is. Hope you're still able to enjoy this RAW! :)

This is the beauty of a small displacement bike....you’re trashing it like Valentino Rossi but you’re only doing 120 km/h 😂 if this was a litre supersport bike you’re be doing over 250 km/h though in those roads you’d probably be going first gear only everywhere haha. Plus your insurance is 10 times less

I hope Suzuki gives in some day and gives us a version of the SV that has a proper suspension and brake setup from the factory. I own an '03 naked model. Modified it myself starting from bone stock. It now has a full GSX-R suspension setup, GSX-R brakes up front, braided brakelines, Leovince exhaust, SV1k snorkel, Gladius intake stacks, K&N filter, Knubbel-radiator, short-throw throttle, heated grips, adjustable clip-ons, S-model footrests, a Lithium battery and a bunch of visual mods. It's a completely different riding experience from stock but just sooooo much better.

Gixxer forks are a must have! Did you notice much hp from the velocity stacks?
@acousticgearhead7820
@acousticgearhead7820 5 жыл бұрын
@@andreahighsides7756 From what I've read on the forums the forks aren't a must-have but more of a nice-to-have suspension-wise. Emulators or an actual cartridge conversion apparently give you most of the benefits without the massive headache that the GSX-R forks give you :D Would miss out on those sweet, sweet brakes though. I'm still fiddling with the motor side. Installing the stacks with all the other mods already in place gave a very noticeable boost in low-to-mid end torque, but at this point it needs a retune. WOT produces less power down low than half-throttle due to the engine being deprived of fuel compared to the volume of air. I ride 99% street, so I don't miss the power that has to be lost somewhere up top.
@andreahighsides7756
@andreahighsides7756 5 жыл бұрын
Acoustic Gearhead thats a strange fueling issue! Good luck sorting it. My 07 pulls well with snorkelectomy and a short slip on, no remap. 6th gets a bit into redline with 15/45 gearing and its strong in the low end. Maybe your bike has clogged injectors if its acting choked? Or maybe a leak in the intake. For what its worth I like real cartridge forks because you can adjust them easier than emulators. Swapping fork internals is mostly to meet race class rules.
@acousticgearhead7820
@acousticgearhead7820 5 жыл бұрын
@@andreahighsides7756 The fueling issue was expected :D It only happened after installing the stacks and only in their optimum rev-range. The engine has no issue meeting the way higher demands of the higher revs. The stock map is only set up to compensate for the environment and not for mods after all. The stacks flow a lot more air in that low range, so the mixture is too lean. Just going up into the mountains on a hot day would probably make it run as intended XD But a remap is in the works, just need to find a date for it. As for suspension, I do too, but in germany it's A LOT of hassle to make a forkswap (or shockswap for that matter) legal, you basically need an engineering degree to make it work (slight hyperbole). Thankfully I have one :D So most people just tune the stock suspension and maybe swap out the shock for an aftermarket unit and call it good. And I'd say for most people that's enough. I just never trusted the stock brakes, even after an overhaul, new pads and braided lines. On top of that the black USDs just look soooo much better ^^

Thanks for sharing! I wouldn't consider this bike a significant upgrade from our good old CB500. Maybe wiser to spend the hard earned coins on a used and well maintained Kawasaki ER-6N? They are much cheaper. I guess one has to look at the GSX-S750 or Z900 for a satisfying upgrade.
@Schaaf

@@exothermal.sprocket Hi! I tried one, think it was 2010 model, felt good and they are cheap, here about less than half of the cost of this new SV650. Right now I'm stuck between the Z900, GSXS750 and Hornet 600. Have you experienced any issues with the Z900?
@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket 5 жыл бұрын
@@dadodasler9730 I had a Z900 for a short time. Ultimately traded on MT-09. To this day I don't know which bike I like better, as aspects of both are very appealing. Z900 gave me zero issues but I didn't have more than about 1400 miles on the odo. Extremely smooth engine, very progressive power delivery, and superb throttle control. Chassis was very stable with really good feedback from the wheels. I will say the seat was too low and too hard for me (6'2") and I did initially have plans to spend the money to get a custom thick seat built to ease up some room for my long legs but traded the bike. From what I've seen online after an ECU flash and full system, with a quality set of fuel and ignition maps written in, 128-130+ whp and 73 ft-lb (wheel) torque is available. Part of me wishes I had kept it. The MT-09 has it's own set of unique circumstances to fix. That's the thing with reliable and inexpensive bang-for-buck Jap bikes. Cracking engines usually, and pitiful shortcomings in suspension, brakes, and even ECU tuning (factory, all fixable of course). Z900 suspension I found a tad jarring, stiff. I think the spring rates were maybe a tad high, but the damping quality is typical Japanese in this price range: rubbish. Factor in full-adj. fork cartridges and shock if you really want to rectify those issues. I took a demo ride on the GSX-S750 a few years ago, before it was updated recently. USA version was basically an imported Euro GSR750. It uses an older 749cc i-4 from the former GSX-R750 with proprietary cams, heads, etc. as usual. Very very smooth engine, very stable chassis, and set up better overall (radial mount calibers, etc) than the Z900 out the door, but of course, substantially less torque and potential being 200cc down. But overall a very excellent machine. I've seen them new left-over around here for $6499 advertised. I really like the 650-900cc range of machines, in all cylinder counts. I think I love barking twins the most, but do appreciate the "tuned more for torque" i-4. Z900 is just that, but doesn't disappoint in higher revs either. Carries the largest fuel capacity (one of my biggest gripes about the class I've mentioned). Z900 engine is derived from the Z1000/Ninja1000 engine with proprietary heads/cylinders/valvetrain. The Z1000/Ninja1000 was first released in 2011 and has been updated a little here and there since. 2018 Kawasaki made the 948cc version out of the 1043 mill and it was a good move. Hope they put this 950 engine into more bikes without changing any hardware or tuning (unlike the Z900RS which I wouldn't care for). Gearing on the Z900 is absolutely perfect, couldn't ask for better spread of ratios.

@@exothermal.sprocket I couldn't wish for a better reply. Thank you very much. It's always difficult to make a choice for a bike you plan to have for many years to come. I will try each of them and make up my mind. The Street Triple (2012) standard model and the new RS have crossed my mind too.

@@andreahighsides7756 Do they still sell the GSXR 600 & 750? In Germany,(prolly whole Europe?) only the 1000ccm is still being sold. Anyway i didnt expect a cartridge fork, but maybe stronger front springs, thicker oil or higher compression damping. nothing adjustable, just a better stock setup. Changing fork oil was the forst thing i did on my '02 SV suspension, next thing on the list is a SRAD rear shock. And i kinda dou t Suzuki has the luxury to keep distance to its own more expensive bikes. Yamahas MT07 + Kawa Z650 is outselling the SV by double the numbers in Germany.
