I have the original 2007 version with manual transmission. Best car I ever had. Fun to drive, great visibility with big windows (rare in today's market). I've put close to 120,000 miles on it with no serious problems. I've switched to all-terrain tires and am looking for after market skid plates for when I go off road. The 4-wheel drive locking differential works great on icy roads. It's a shame that Suzuki abandoned the American market because the SX4 provided a great alternative to the horde of pickup trucks, Priuses, and muscle cars on the road.

+Rinifi Rocky Mountain Outfitters has a 2.5" lift for SX4. I was able to put BFG AT tires on the stock rims and only had to cut a small 3"x3" section of plastic out of the inner fender well. Now this car is unstoppable in snow and has more clearance than most other cars on the road.

First off- I thought these vehicles did not have TRC? Second- how can you lock the differential and still have TRC? Doesn’t a locked diff automatically transfer power equally to each wheel and therefore 4WD LOCK, TRC ON shouldn’t even be possible? It appears that in this video- (4WD AUTO, TRC ON) did best even though technically (4WD LOCK) should be best because of the equal distribution to each wheel.
@SmartFinderRomania5 жыл бұрын
You can only lock the center diff. TRC acts like electronic diff lock by using brakes to stop the slipping wheels. On each side.

The LOCK locks front and rear drivelines together. TRC apportions power to left or right sides that have traction, by using the brakes to slow a slipping/spinning wheel, which then forces power to the wheel on the opposite side. 4WD AUTO is actually AWD. So...FWD is 2WD from the front wheels. 4WD AUTO is AWD, like an AWD SUV or car might have. 4WD LOCK is 4WD HIGH-RANGE, like a 4WD pickup truck might have. There is no 4WD LOW-RANGE in the SX4, but the little car isn't really made for rockcrawling, or turning huge, heavy mudders.

Anybody know why the rear end kicks out with 4 Wheel Lock? Mine does it too. it's weird, especially since the power distro only goes to 50/50 and lock only forces it 65/35 (front/rear) from the get go, instead of the 95/5 or 90/10 it defaults to in 4W-i.

@@Dude13450 If all wheels are getting the same speed, that is nothing unusual. And if all wheels are spinning on slippery surface, that doesn't mean that system is locked. It is just engaged to the level of wheel speed equalization. In Lock mode it is probably engaged above that level. Where did you get the info about initial 65/35 torque split?
