I set out to find out which of our supermarkets was cheaper for doing basic household shopping. As you know I am always keen on saving money and not spending more than I need to. This supermarket comparison turned out to be quite interesting and the outcome was totally unexpected!! Enjoy!

I totally concur; comparing by price really isn't a viable comparison as brands pricing is in effect not just the superstores prices.

Carrefour all the way, I like the fact that they always have offers on almost all the items , or buy one get one free or another item attached to the item you are buying. Then am able to see other products that are new in the market.

Carrefour still wins. Naivas and quickmart are very expensive with around 20-60 shillings above carrfour. Eg ndengu carrefour-170/160 naivas-190 ndengu special is also on offer 1.5 kg@150 in carrfour

Waah Carrefour you save an extra coin,but if one stays where you surrounded by naivas and other supermarkets and Carrefour is far from them I would advice or rather I would go for naivas to save on my transport and time.

Carrefour is the real deal.I still have stuff i bought last year on sale.They had a lot of buy 1 get 1 free offers in Oct/Nov 2020.I always look forward to their Wednesday App update on sales for that week.

Thanks for the video.. normally if any supermarket brands their own stuff, it is cheaper. I think for us to know the cheaper supermarket, pick the same brand of stuff from both supermarkets and compare.

I normally do my shopping at wholesale shops but if I miss some items I run to Naivas, I should try Carrefour for real....about milk ATMs I buy my milk at quickmart at 64/- a litre😀....and I started this after watching your yoghurt videos,hapa tunasoma na tunafanya practicals na we score 100%,you should see me telling my sister how buying yoghurt is a waste of money 😛... Nice video suzy for me naivas is way cheaper than carrefour depending on my monthly budget that I do mark you I don't buy cheapest but brands that I believe in depending with quality ....but when it comes to electronics ,utensils and mats etc I choose carrefour coz they don't miss offers.

Carrefour has big stores so plenty of variety and price range to choose from. The other great part of shopping with them is that they have a Carrefour app solely for shopping at their store . Deliveries are done 3 hrs from placing your shopping list order and delivery is free if you buy items above KSH.1,500. I have never known a better store na mimi ni mwanainchi wa kawaida . Lastly, brand by brand comparison would be the most effective comparison for the two stores.

I wish the comparison was for similar brands between the two stores. Some brands are generally cheaper than others so leaves a little discrepancy. Anyway, great video

Yaani it feels funny to hear it being pronounced as car 4,we found it here in dubai being pronounced as kari 4,many yrs ago. We got used to it, I know the Kenyan way is the way, but we ain't used to car 4 pronunciation

It would have made sense to do a comparison for like minded items. Eg manitou potatoes are cheaper at naivas but damn expensive at quick mart.... Same applies to carrots, onion's na kadhalika....

By the way I have a sister in law who buys her fruits from a godown on the way to utawala very very cheap. The thing is coz it is wholesale you must look for a partner to buy together and divided. She gets apples oranges grapes

How expensive a supermarket is depends on where they're located and how much they pay in rent. For example in Kisumu the prices of similar commodities differ between Quick Mart in the CBD and the Quick Mart in Kondele area. And i think local retailers should learn a thing or two from Carrefour. Its business module and customers care services carries the day every time.

Naivas adds preservative(calcium propionate) to bread so it can last more than 3 weeks, yet most pple buy daily.Carrefour does not.Keep up the great work!!

😂😂😂you are always interesting and a good narrate. What I noticed while shopping in different supermarkets, hypermarkets etc. .I found out different brand has different prices. The product might be the same but from different company with different price. It would be interesting to know the price of same same product, same company, in different supermarkets. Like you compare Jembe in carrefour, and Jembe in naivas. Some people don't check the price but the brand of the product. Good video it's an eye opener too.

The presentation of items at carrefour is always on point,now at Naivas,stuff is disorganised, vumbi ptooh..Then you find items are priced 3 or 2 ,4 bob higher than carrefour. Anyway i miss Nakumatt na Uchumi bread and fresh veges...May they continue resting in peace

Naivas is expensive e.g sausages this month cost 672 compared to carrefour 567! N most items for Naivas are costly by a margin of almost 25/= compared to Carrefour.Plus Naivas does not occasionally stock small quantities eg unga ugali they stock only 2kg while carrefour considers that customer who cannot afford to buy big quantities, they stock 1kg unga. Overall, I just love shopping @ carrefour coz they issue parking receipts valid for 1hr n all the branches are in malls so they have parking spaces. Not forgetting carrefour is big n spacious, gives me a happy feeling when shopping. Reminds me of Nakumatt🥰

This video would have been more helpful if you made a comparison of items under the same brand and skipped anything with a different brand ... because for example things like ndengu some are polished other not so they wouldn't cost the same
