MPS Digital Photography presents a talk with Phuong Vo (MPS 2020 Digital Photography), a New York City-based photographer and multimedia producer. With a diverse clientele ranging from emerging businesses to industry leaders, including notable names such as Canon, JBL, Morgan and Morgan and Vestwell, Vo has adeptly translated the essence of diverse brands through her expertise in advertising photography, showcasing a keen ability to capture unique identity.
In response to the surge of anti-Asian attacks during the COVID-19 pandemic, Vo collaborated with like-minded creatives of Asian descent across the U.S. to produce a compelling short documentary. Featuring 12 artists from around the world, the documentary sheds light on the historical racial profiling and targeting of the Asian community. The project garnered significant attention, earning the prestigious Staff Pick Premiere on Vimeo and amassing over 100,000 views within the first three days. Recognized for its impactful storytelling, the documentary received the gold award in the Recognition category from The Anthem Awards, an organization dedicated to celebrating purpose-driven work across diverse causes such as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Education; Art and Culture; Health, Human and Civil Rights; Humanitarian Action and Services; Responsible Technology; and Sustainability, Environment and Climate.
Vo is currently collaborating with the award-winning director Erik Shirai as a coordinating producer on an international film project spanning the United States, France, Japan and Vietnam.
The i3: Images, Ideas, Inspiration lecture series has returned to in-person events. The series continues to feature leading photographers, artists, editors, gallerists and industry experts. The Spring 2024 i3 lecture series is hosted and curated by curator, editor and vice-president of the American Photography Archives Group Julie Grahame.
