I'm a strayer and I have a series 70 mark 40 that was hand machined by sandy for my dad in the 70's (now handed down to me) and I am in love with shooting that .45. I'm going to have Infinity build another one just like it (moderized) and pass it down to my sons

Playing with STIs I always thought were butter, Infinities are even on another level! The front sight milling and tracking is genius and you see alot of other companies copying them now or attempting too. ✊

It looks beautiful. I ended up going with an Atlas Hyperion because I’m impatient, didn’t want to wait the 1-1.5yr build time, and am shooting minor so it seemed right. That definitely looks like it is worth the wait though.

I have quit watching your channel. I love mechanical perfection i.e. watches, cars, motorcycles, GUNS, semi trucks, earthmovers etc. That is the nicest modern handgun I have ever seen. You know you got a nice gun when you have to carry a backup to make sure no one steals your primary. I wouldn't want to shoot it for fear of dropping it or wearing it out.

Thanks Ian! Oh man, if you only knew. Originally my idea was to cover exactly what you listed in your comments. It was actually part of my “about” for the channel. I was advised by my peers to keep it to just gun stuff and nothing else. I am internationally certified in car and motorcycle “stuff”. Like pursuit, protection, motorcade. With a large German manufacturer. That’s about all I can say about that. Maybe one day :-)

Stunning pistols! I'd love to see more videos on these pistols and why you chose the things you did? I'm considering ordering one this week. Do you use Infinity Mags and what kind of springs/followers do you use? How does the Duo-tone hold up verses the DLC coating? Any draw backs to the Infinity logo cut out from the grip and the logo on the rear cocking serrations? Anything you'd change or recommend?

I'm amazed at how much they have evolved! So with that sight tracker system they are also increasing the surface area that the barrel slide returns to battery against right? Not just a link, lugs, hood and bushing doing the job anymore. Are the Sears coated? Special metal? Last time I was putting 1911's together robar and titanium nitride and even baked on graphite like things were being talked about.
@XRING
@XRING 5 жыл бұрын
JDS hillbilly They still rely on the lug but the slide is fitted perfectly around the island. I’m not sure of special coatings to reduce wear other than the barrel coating which is titanium nitride. They are truly smoother than any other custom 2011’s I have shot. The one I reviewed has been used extensively for competition for 2 years and still looks new.
@jdshillbilly1229

@@XRING do you remember all the gadgets they used to make to try and increase lockup. LoL one that quickly comes to mind was the Dwyer group gripper. Had a barrel Link with a notch that levered in a flat spring sticking out of the back of the spring guide rod. If you haven't seen it I think it might give you a chuckle looking it up. I believe they were marketed as something just as good as cutting and welding around the link.

I edc my springfield prodigy is the best shooter ever owned. Yes my dream pistol is a infinty but way out of my budget. But i will tell everyone this. If you want to feel like your cheating when you shoot. Go buy a 2011 plat form. They are not cheap at all but there is a reason behind the price. Postive will out shoot any other platform out there with lowest recoil and speed which makes for flatest shooter made. Usally best trigger you can get. I mean it is a 1911 what more to say. Only negitive. Since the 2011 are the ferrari of all pistols they have to be tuned and maintance like a ferrari. They love oil and heard infinty says only to use lucas oil or gun will fail. They say oil all 2011 either when it looks dry or every 1000 rounds. Also must be cleaned every 1000 rounds. I clean mine every time i shoot and keep it well oiled since it is my edc pistol. They love to be dripping with oil and run like butter when they are oiled. So if you think a 2011 is like a glock or sig and can run no matter how dirty or dry the pistol is. Think again. If you dont like oiling or cleaning a pistol every 1000 rounds dont get any 2011 plat form pistol . But ill say this if you can get over those negitives you will not regret owning a 2011 and probly never shoot your glock or sig again. You wont have buyers remorse droping $1500 or up on a 2011. There is a 2011 for $1000 made by tesa now. Heard they are desent but i stayed with springfield prodigy 4.25 . I just trust mine after my upgrades mine shoots flatter and faster then my buddies staccoto c2 and he payed 2500 for his and i paid 1500 for mine. He even shoot my prodigy better. Lets just say he left the range madd lol. So get a 2011 you will be a better shot and be in love with your gun. Oh by the way did I meantion a 2011 is the sexest pistol made according to my wife.

@@XRING Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it!😊 I have considered having one of my 1911's I shoot in competition pinned but I've never ran into anyone that's had it done-does it help with your draw and grip without having to worry about engaging the grip safety? And you have a new subscriber, awesome info/presentation and lack of 5min hard rock intro😉😂
@XRING
@XRING 4 жыл бұрын
seraphim2525 Thank you and thank you for subscribing to the channel. I occasionally add music to my videos but it is few and far between. As far as the grip safety’s......if I don’t pin them then I will have a dead trigger 50% of the time. It is just the way I grip the pistol. Every Infinity, Akai, or STI that I have owned has the the grip safety pinned because of that reason. Most competition shooters do the same as well. I hope this helps.

I know they are accurate but are they reliable or ammo finicky? You said 40 caliber , they make their own magazines right ? Was that a 20 round ? Just curious
@XRING
@XRING 6 жыл бұрын
They are extremely reliable if you load consistent ammunition. These are not built to run factory ammo. I have found them to be more finicky with some types of bullet shapes. Once you find a specific shape and type that the gun likes, you just stick with it. My mags hold around 18-19 rounds. I don’t like to compress the spring to 19.

Hi I have been watching your channel, and it is really nice. You did a review on one of Akai Custom's 2011 pistol. Is Akai as good as SVI? Akai uses tunsten sleeved barrel, stroked slide, many concepts to make the gun shoot fast and accurate. Shay Akai sets very high standard for his products (he aims for 2inch group at 50yrd, provided the shooter is good). You are the only reviewer I can find on youtube who talk honestly, and are very skillful super accurate shooter. Is Akai super nice like SVI? Also, what is the pair of eye protection you wear in this video? Thank you.
@XRING
@XRING 6 жыл бұрын
Hello Golferchin, Wow, great question! I have been extremely pleased with Shay’s work. The Akai that I reviewed has performed flawlessly this year and continues to impress me. I am in NO way putting down Akai Custom guns or Shay Akai. However, I do have to take into consideration that when you order an SVI, you are getting everything made in house... Literally. Shay does unbelievable work but he has to rely on other companies to make the grips, magwells, triggers. etc. He does put his finishing touches on some things but it’s not the same as making each piece, part and component. I think a good shooter will enjoy and appreciate either pistol and don’t think one necessarily “outshoots” the other. I hope this helps.

Hi X-ring, thank you for the thoughtful unbiased opinion and so true your last sentence about enjoy and appreciate. A few days ago I was at the range and got a few rounds off an old friend's STI Edge and I was genuinely surprised by it. More shockingly he told me there's another level of "smoothness" called SVI, with the price to match, and the 15 month wait.... I can only imagine what that feels like. That aside really enjoying your channel, there's practical shooting speed, as well as tactical & defensive materials in them.
