GREAT REVIEW! Thanks for sharing your magnificent pistol with us. I can finally afford a full blown race gun and I’m leaning towards SVI. It will be just like yours, but black and in .40! Thanks again! 👍

Shane, what your are paying for with a gun like that is a gun that fits your purpose better and does every thing more efficiently than a stock or unmodified pistol, less muzzle flip and recoil, better trigger pull, better sighting system, and so on.

State of the art Open gun👍 I also have an old Para, I like it, it is a cost effective 1911 double stack and it has 100% stainless steel slide/frame👍 Fit and finish on the new Remington seem way better😊

Thanks for the quick response! After watching your video I realized the tight tolerances and detail are evident between the factory and custom. I’ve heard bits and pieces of the svi/sti but now it makes since. I was originally just looking for a quality 9mm pistol for recreational purpose but I’m the kinda guy that buys once and cries once.. haha. There are so many brands out there it’s easy to get confused between brands. It seems like they all have pros and cons. Cz Checkmate, seems like a good gun and certainly should be reliable being a cz, however I’ve heard you have to modify them out of the box.... Then I found sti, they seem good but now I’m learning about svi... so it seems like there will always be better but you have to be willing to spend more and wait longer for that. Any suggestions?
@birddog0347
@birddog0347 5 жыл бұрын
Bradly Classen first suggestion is to find a local USPSA match and try it out with whatever you have or just go and talk to the shooters. Explain what you’re trying to do and ask to test drive a gun or two if they seem cool enough, most will just offer to let you shoot it after the match. You could also join the Brian Enos forum and find someone local to you there. If you’re in DFW, you can shoot mine. Just keep an open mind and try to find what you like. If you do decide on an SVI and need help with the order process and deciding on the options (it’s daunting) I can help you, any team Infinity shooter will help you, or you can call the factory.

6:22 I'm always wondering what is the name of that part between thumb safety and the slide?
@birddog0347
@birddog0347 3 жыл бұрын
It's the thumb shield, intended to keep the cuts on the slide from tearing up your skin as well as your thumb from slowing down the cycling of the slide and causing jams. They are optional on the Infinity and you can choose right side, left side, or both.

My situation was a bit unique... I was 12 months into my wait when this gun popped up for immediate sale on the bookface group. It was very close to what I ordered, but I liked it even better than the one I had ordered. I called and talked to them and made a deal to get this one instead. Right now most orders are around the 14-15 month range I think. One of my buddies got the call a few weeks back and should be getting it before 15 months total.

As I said in the video this is a SVI from www.sviguns.com and you can go there click on the gunbuilder link and create an account to then submit your design for whatever you want. They are the manufacturer of this gun, not a gunsmith... Everything is made in house from a bar of billet. The open gun like this one is the Wide Body - IMM Open Pistol. The slide cuts are called accellerator cuts, it is tri-topped, in 38 Super comp, Bianchi frame (widest option for more weight down low on the dust cover). The options are limitless, seriously, anything you want and can afford. Create an account on the site and start a new build, lots of other pics on their website to help show you some options. You can also call up there and talk to Brandon or Casey to help you make some choices if you're confused.

The Infinity is definitely a very fine firearm but is the difference between the Infinity and the Para/Remington worth the $4000+ price difference. My point is, does the Infinity shoot $4000 better groups.
@birddog0347
@birddog0347 5 жыл бұрын
Shane Boushie it is more accurate, but it’s entirely different from the para in that it’s an Open division gun and the para is a limited division gun. Apples to oranges. Now to the question of its worth, just like everything else it’s only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. To me it’s worth it. To quote Ferris Bueller “It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.” If you’ve ever wanted a Ferrari or the like but drive a normal sedan instead, it’s like that... they both do the same thing but in terms of quality there is absolutely no comparison.
@shaneboushie4737
@shaneboushie4737 5 жыл бұрын
@@birddog0347 you nailed it, "apples to oranges" this comparison should have never been made. Maybe a better comparison would been to an off the shelf race gun such as a EAA Elite Gold ($2406.00 msrp) or something along those lines.

I’m looking at an sti Omni. What is the difference between svi and sti?
@birddog0347
@birddog0347 5 жыл бұрын
Bradly Classen the “s” in both names was for Strayer, the “T” is for Tripp, and the “v” is for Voight. The original patent for the modular 2011 design was shared and they became two companies. STI was almost strictly mass production and different models while SVI focused on custom builds. (Same true today) These days the two companies have moved further apart in terms of quality , and STI has qa issues well documented over the last few years but I think they are under new management now so hopefully they turn it around. SVI is still made to order and always innovating and will make you anything you want. STI doesn’t build custom guns as far as I know. I’ve had many STI guns both factory and custom built by other gunsmiths and the custom ones were still higher quality but still not even close to the SVI. STI makes (or used to) a good off the shelf gun but it’s not anywhere near the quality of a SVI, but the price difference typically reflects that.

HOT SHOT 1500 not sure I understand your question. The barrel is SVI’s hybrid comp barrel with 4 ports. If it were a limited gun it wouldn’t have ports or a comp but the front sight would be attached to it. Most people call them sight trackers or island barrels.

I have a Dillon Super 1050 press (I'll get a video uploaded soon to show what it is) that I use to make my rounds. The basic gist of it is that I bought the proper brass (Starline 38 SuperComp) and then I pick it up after I shoot it. I buy small pistol primers, VV 3n38 powder, and Montana Gold 124grn JHP projectiles and then I use my press to put them all together.

One gun was designed for sport. The other...all-purpose..competition and combat. Ironic. The "cheaper" gun is better for real world use. While the $6000 race gun to put chunks of metal through paper or be bounced off steel plates. :)
@birddog0347
@birddog0347 3 жыл бұрын
Technically, both were created by competitors, for competition... different classes for sure, but different price points as well. This video was not meant to disparage Para at all, I loved that gun. The point of the video at the time was to show you what you're paying extra for. I also have a SVI single stack 1911 that if I can get my hands on an off the shelf 1911 to compare it to I'll do that. My SVI 1911 has close to 20k rounds through it and is STILL tighter and just as reliable as any GI 1911 out there. The bluing has worn from the kydex and it's got high mileage, but man I would grab any SV in an instant if I needed it. The only reason it's not good for "real world use" is quite simply the price of admission and the fact that if you use a gun in self defense, even when it's righteous you're going to lose the gun to the government for an unspecified amount of time, up to permanently, thus the cheaper guns are better for that if cost is a concern. I myself own more than one SVI, but because I understand the value I wouldn't reach for it first. That has absolutely nothing to do with the capabilities... If I had "fun coupons" to throw in the wind I'd chose SVI for every gun in my house.
@Catgat37
