Looks like you deformed the flat-top die when trying to bend that piece of 3/16"?

Good to see you posting content Troy! I've been using your HD finger brake in an old Ramco 50 ton press for a couple of years now. It's amazing how well it works. Wouldn't be without it. I've gotta pick up that flat-top someday though. Regards, Brad

I have an angle reader just like that one. It only works properly if You zero it out first on the horizontal surface first. If you can’t get a real horizontal surface as with this brake, it’s harder to use. The horizontal top of the gooseneck die doesn’t look thick enough to match the strength of the rest of it. It looks as though it will bend, or break.

Great machine, if you spray your flat jig with a little oil and place a thin sacrificial piece of material between ( and allow for the width) this will prevent scratching the work piece. If your base pieces are at 90 degrees then whatever you press into them will spring back to more than that. No matter how hard you pump

Nice informal video. Thank you! I just picked up a 20 Ton today from Harbor Freight. Need to get this upgrade along with the pneumatic 20 ton. I'll be placing my order this week. Your video answered my question I was concerned about. I think it's doable now though. I need to bend/form some steel plate 3/8 thick x 5" stiffing up a frame for hydraulics
@Swagoffroad

Chad, Thank you for your interest in our products. I would recommend going with the 20 Ton Heavy Duty Kit rather than the standard duty. Both are capable of bending 5" of 3/8" but that is maxing out the standard duty break. If your particular bottle jack is a little under-powered (which does happen from time to time) you will have trouble getting a full 90° out of the standard duty brake. Don't hesitate to give me a call or send an email if you have any other questions. Thank you, SWAG Off Road

@@Swagoffroad thanks for the reply. I should be fine. I don't need to bend any hard 90's. It's more of making the flat piece contoured with a series of bends spread apart. I'm needing to follow the front end shape of a mid 60's Oldsmobile frame. I just picked up the pneumatic 20 ton this evening so I'll get that mounted and mess with it and then place a order.

Very impressive tooling you have engineered and make. I am basically a hobbyist and have Harbor Freight's 20 Ton Press. My background is in tool and die making, both in the shop and in design; therefore, I appreciate good design when I see it. I have already designed and am in the process of fabricating tooling for my wife to use with her copper blanking dies for making custom jewelry. Keep up the good work and may you turn a nice profit.

Impressive little unit. I didn’t realize they made a release knob so DOH I made my own lol. NBD as I have a machine shop. Second I used foot valve instead the hand valve that comes with the jack. Very good video. Anyone serious about bending should consider this. One thing I did noticed though, on your site I couldn’t find where you can purchase individual dies , or even a complete set. Do you sell ? Thank you

I have one. Wonderful tool, but I have not been able to get it to do 15" of 1/4" steel at anything close to 90 degrees, and the ad says 16". It takes some skill to use. Putting the bend in the right place takes effort. Expect to buy or make accessories.

Why am I constantly seeing guys saying ‘my everlast welder’??? Are these cheap plugs by Everlast by bogus posters? I see it a dozen times a day on metal related videos.
@melgross
@melgross 4 жыл бұрын
cuskit's metallic sawdust I wonder sometimes. Everlast is one of those companies that gives their welder to almost anyone, it seems. I doubt if this shlub was given one, but somehow people who buy one seem to think it’s a big deal. Actually, they’re unreliable, and the company doesn’t stand behind its warranty. But, you could be right. Everlast is a shady company.
@dougrood
@dougrood 9 ай бұрын
. @melgross Maybe in your experience but otherwise couldn't be farther from the truth. Everlast bends over backward to make any issues right that pop up. The main guys are all over social media to make sure any issues get taken care of. Don't see that from the Blue or Red guys. Have had 2 of their units in my shop (that I bought) for 5 years with zero issues, just ordered 2 more units last week. Tig, plasma and 2 mig welders.

I would happily buy the entire heavy duty kit, with all the various dies etc except for one thing. I’m downunder, & when I go to “checkout” the postage is $1k 🇦🇺 Aussie sh!tsvillian pacific micro pesos. 😳😳 Embarrassing as it is to say, for that kinda money, I’m just going to buy the steel locally and make one, basically copying your idea. Not the way I’d prefer to go, but with UPS freight being so totally unrealistic nowadays - that’s about the only sensible thing to do. Not proud to say it, you have a good design & a good product & id like to support you - but I just want it shipped at an affordable cost, I don’t want to buy the damned plane it’s getting shipped in ffs. 🙄 Someone needs to slap UPS / USPS or whoever is doing your shipping silly because you’ll never grow your market outside US Borders with idiots running your postal service. 🙄

I really do apologize for the excessive shipping to Australia and totally understand not moving forward with an order. The weight of our products really kills us on international shipping since the brake all by itself weighs close to 75lbs. We are currently looking for a distributor in Australia but have yet to find one that will work. Do you know of any shops down under that do online sales for welding/metal fab supplies? We'd love to grow our international sales but your 100% correct, shipping cost is making that next to impossible.

@@Swagoffroad We really only have the one national supply shop for metal machining products in Oz. They are a national chain called “Machinery House” (Hare & Forbes). They move a mountain of product & are a good supplier. They would be your best option I would think. If they would stock the Harbour Freight Shop Presses & Swag Offroad Press Breaks to go with them, most Aussies with a “man cave” would have one of each in a heart beat. I buy all my machining needs for the Bridgeport Mil through them & am about to buy my new metal lathe from them in their March annual sale. They are good blokes to deal with, their staff have industry experience so can field questions with knowledgeable staff who have industry experience to provide the right product & their prices aren’t too bad either. I’m guessing they would be your best option. Thanks for your response - please don’t be mad at me for attempting to make my own. Like I have said, you have a good product, it’s reasonably priced & you deserve every success if the US Postal Service weren’t handicapping your supply options. Sending a shipping container load downunder to a national chain like Machinery House ( Hare & Forbes) would mean that all of us could finally access the product at an affordable cost nationally. Maybe yourselves and Harbour Freight could share a shipping container between you to get both products here in one go at 50% of the shipping bill maybe? 🤷‍♂️ Wishing you the best of luck with it. 👍👍👍🇦🇺

@@ianmoone2359 I really appreciate the suggestion! Just reached out to them! And no hard feelings whatsoever. Our products are so heavy that international shipping can be absolutely insane. With any luck at all, we'll have someone you can buy from directly in Australia!
