Bought this due to Z's glowing review....and I'm happy to say he's right on the money (but I'm not a speaker expert). I came from Edifier R2000's to the S2000 pro (was disappointed) to this, and I do feel these are good enough as my endgame speakers. I did catch myself tearing up involuntarily while listening to George Michael's Songs from the last century...

The bass and treble thing you talking about sounds exactly like creatives crystallizer and bass dsp setting magic. Treble becomes very more noticable... But not anything like traditional treble. No harshness. And the bass setting tightens up and adds tone but not bloat. I love my gc7 running through an atom.... Love

Since you are doing all high-end Powered Speakers, I guess You cannotforget about the new KEF LS50 wireless 2 as well... As I wonder, whether the M300 mkII are the best speakers up to the Buchards or KEFs 😜

Be advised! Anyone connecting to the Wi-Fi host provided by these speakers will also have access to whatever network they are connected to via Ethernet or Wi-Fi client. It acts as a network bridge/router to your internal network. Therefore, either keep it off your network entirely, or set a very good password for the default Wi-Fi host network in the device's settings page. DO NOT just take this thing out of the box and plug an ethernet cable into it, or others will be able to connect to the speakers default Wi-Fi network, and then have full-access to your internal network. Confusing? Just use non-network ways to access this device only. Keep it off your network completely. I will have to team these as a security vulnerabilities.

It's weird how many speakers they have that are similarly priced though. Like there are new M3's that are priced similarly to these. But they're M3's. So other than looks, I wonder how different they sound? In this comparison, they're also 3 way. Tricky shopping.

@@Vayshen Yes, for sure. Have to be familiar with component quality, and to notice whether or not amps have an auto-shutoff. But their 3.2 speaker for a little over a grand is a 279 DIY kit?!? I believe Zeos did a kit.

This is the highest in the range of true active speakers, the ones above have either a passive or passive and active hybrid crossover. True active means each driver has it's own amplifier and is controlled better and lower distortion...

Goddamn, the swan m500's look amazing !!! the 8" woofer sets it off , i could only imagine how good those speakers would sound, they would definitely pump , why would you get the M300 mk2 when you could shoot for the m500's for 98 dollars difference.

bigger does not mean it is better... it also depends on your room size as bigger speakers need bigger space to sound better though. im owning the swans m300mkii. best sounding speakers for the price!

I’m now reading owner reviews, mostly stating that the M500’s go from too quiet, to too loud, so they’re constantly tweaking the volume control. Especially when watching movies. It sounds like something that could be cured with a firmware download, but that isn’t available? They are now dropping in price, and are currently the same as the M300MkII’s. Maybe Swan are planning a M500MkII, so are selling off the remaining stock? Its a shame, but for my needs, I will probably go for the 300’s.

The Swan Hivi D1500 with 8" driver should be very good, although it's only two way. I think, if Zeos will be very impressed with the M5a or even the M500 which are 3-way with 8" bass and ribbon tweeter

Buyer beware: I bought the swan M200 after seeing a Zeos review. Maybe Z hasn't spent a ton of time with them but I had multiple pairs with issues. This was over a year ago, so I will try to recall everything. 1st pair I bought had a notable hiss when no input was on (according to them, faulty amp). It was like a tube tv turned on with no sound. It was annoying and I contacted customer service. After seeing my video they sent me a new pair and didn't ask for me to send back the old ones. I thought cool extra speakers (though I wanted to get rid of the old ones). Next pair came in and the volume knob didn't work and the Bluetooth connection would short out with the step of mouse. I contacted customer service and never heard back. Ended up tossing the speakers and $500 when a tip-toe would drop a connection. Flaws aside, they do sound phenomenal when working properly. But there was too many issues for me to recommend someone buying them. The hiss wasn't bad when the volume could play above it. They do sound phenomenal. But at the time I think they cost $500, and at that price point I expect a fully functional product, or expect a fully functional product when I have to replace it. Swan has the hardware for a great speaker, but either the hardware or build quality give me a "avoid" recommendation from this brand.

I have looking to simplify my setup for my TV setup with powered speakers. I don’t if it will be worth while to get set of powered speakers. I currently use a Marantz SR 5013 as a video processor/preamp, Pioneer VSX D1S as a power amp, and Topping D50s for my DAC connected to a pair Klipsch RP 600s. Thanks Zeos for introducing me to the Pioneer D1S which is beautiful hidden Japanese gem.

Please don't use two speakers as center, you'll see lobing, directivity changes, murder the polar response...just find a way to do 3x LCR all the same.

I traded my Adam T7V for these (near field use). The level of detail in the Swans was very apparent. Clearer mids as well, a problem I had with the T7Vs. Voices would seemingly be at a lower volume than everything else. No such problem on the Swans. I haven't fully broken them in yet; I suspect that may be a reason why there is less detail in the lower range. For now, I have them running through the Douk Audio balanced EQ and I couldn't be happier.

Hello, I just bought Swans D300 and I am disappointed with the low amount of bass and dynamics. Is there such a problem in the M300mk2? D300 need a subwoofer.

M5A has a 3 inch midrange driver and it's tri-amped, vs a 2" midrange driver on the M500 and biamped. The both have an 8 inch driver, but they appear to be different models.

Heard a lot of Swans active speaker's internal amplifiers have a short lifetime. Might be better to get a passive speaker in that price range. At least they will give many years of listening pleasure.

I've heard that passive crossovers are massively inferior to DSP. Might be better to get active DSP'd speakers; much better fidelity and listening enjoyment.

I am anguishing over getting these or Klipsch the Sevens. I currently have the Fives and really love them. The Sevens have HDMI input but I trust Zeos (and his sound demo of these) that these might kick a lot harder (they are a three way after all) for $400 less. They also have balanced inputs and I have an IFI Zen turntable pre-amp that has a balanced output. And I dig vinyl. The M300 MKII have wifi too and the Sevens do not. Sure, I will need two remotes for the TV, but no big deal for me. But Swan needs to get with the program and provide a switch for left and right speaker and also take a lesson from Klipsch who now provides a 6 ft extension wire for the Sevens and Nines for the left and right speaker so you can separate them and not have the wire hang. I'm waiting for Zeos' review of the Klipsch Sevens and Nines to decide. Of course, with Swan's constant innovation, maybe we will see a new version of these from them soon, too.

So when do we get a device that I can drop in my existing system to DSP-ify it and make it great? I know stand alone DSPs already exist, but I don't really hear anyone raving about a minidsp for anything but bass adjustments in an HT setup - not making an already good 2channel setup magic.

(Very) Low chances. There's room/MLP DSP (Dirac being best apparently) then there's per-driver DSP. You need active crossovers to independently control drivers, synergise them for time-alignment, reduce intermodulation etc. At best that's gonna require DIY (xover "upgrade" to active, not sure its viable), a massive repository of drivers/cabinets/"pre-build" speaker measurement/profiles + some AI/DSP software. Might happen in the future, chip-rolling becoming today's tube-rolling. Too many steps missing today though.

For a near-field set-up, I suggest the *Adam T7V* monitors with the best-value USB DAC: the ifi ZEN DAC (v.2), which has a buttery-smooth volume knob, power- and bass-boosting buttons, and serviceable headphone-out. If you want to run the Adams balanced, you can get a 4.4mm to dual XLR adapter. You can also add a subwoofer (or two) from the ifi's RCA-outs.

@@mattrismattI switched from the T7V to the M300mkii. The swans have better high end detail, but surprisingly have worse low end detail and volume. Not sure if it's because I'm using them as nearfield or because the volume knob has to be set way low and the woofer is hungry. These things are so powerful that only a fraction of a fraction of the amps rating is used for nearfields

Zeos - Please tell me how I can get my M300's repaired! I've had them for 5 months and yesterday they just died - no sound whatsoever. Now they have NO WEBSITE. So far they've cost me $100 per month.

I was thinking of installing a passive 5.1 system for my movie projector room, but after seeing this, I might just save the hassle and money and go stereo. My only issue is that I would need to wall mount the speakers, 7ft up, tilting down. Need good brackets? Advice?

I haven’t tried the m300 mkii’s but I did compare my s3000 pros to the m300’s. S3000 pros wiped the floor with those pos swans.

@@pedecia the s3000 pro sound way more dynamic and exciting than the m300, even in Monitor Mode. That by itself will appeal to more people.

@zeos and other m300mkii users. question. i got this speakers recently after i watched this review. my question is. does the remote trouble sensing the speakers? and sometimes my buttons work but the function were different. specifically the volume and mute buttons. thanks!

Mine's 2 weeks old. The remote suddenly stopped working the other night. Took out the batteries and reinserted them. Worked ok afterwards. Still observing.

This is a regular problem with Swans, the D300 also have huge volume jumps. But I lower it down digitally on foobar or youtube or whatever and then it's fine

Ok. Best sound possible.... Get a decent DAC then buy ADAM Ax5 and SVS sb1000 NON PRO. That is most important! Go out of the DAC into the SVS which has a 80hz crossover into the Adams and the sound is sublime. Prove me wrong!

I bought the swans last year. They are still amazing. Only complaint is that Depending on how far you sit or the size of your room, can really affect how you perceive the bass/lowend

That has far more to do with the room than the speaker. IIRC, 500hz and under is mostly room dependant
