never went through this error by putting the disc after taking the disc and changing the disc I think because it crashes the game because it removed the disc and put another one

what happens if you swap GT1's NTSC-U demo disc with the full game? I did this in ePSXe, and it led to some interesting results in arcade mode, so I hope that it happens on a real console too

It was probably everything stored in v-ram at that moment, though I'm not entirely sure. Even if it is, it's pretty interesting that swapping demo disks made it display that.

The best thing I've ever had on a PS1 was a memory card which if you pressed a button it would act like a different memory card so my dad, my brother and I could all have our own saves on gt1 without having to write over each others save.

I once had a friend over when we were kids, he pulled out his THPS2 disc while we were playing but didn't turn off the console, my brother and I kept playing the same level on free skate till it froze. Then I popped in the disc from NFL Blitz and it let us continue playing until we rebooted.

0:26 This is weird... the game is Japanese, but the console still shows "SCEE" (European PS1) instead of "SCEI" (Japanese PS1).

Modchipped PS1's do that to bypass the region check. It will show SCEE to match the PS1's bios no matter what region the game is from.

Huh, this is interessting. It is like the same engine and file structure, so you are capable of going to the menu. And when you go to the menu you are back at the rails. It is no surprise the both games didn't crash until the end. It is a surprise it crashed at the end.

@@computer_dude Yep, there's RAM consuming, because when you eject a disc, the game doesn't freeze, and you can walk around without music (with certain games)

hey dude i know this is not ps1 and ps2 related but i wanted you to know this if you have call of duty 4 modern warfare for ps3 if you take the disc out it won't close it will tell you to put it back in so i got bored and took the disc out and put mw2 in to do this you have to be on the main menu so i put mw2 in and it played music from the mw2 disc and if you wait a little bit it should show a video from mw2 you should try it :)

Load the menu of the retail, choose a car not allowed in demo, then swap to demo disc and try out beta car ! This works with Driver 2 , I'm sure something similar can happen here

i used to do that with sega 16 or 32 bit. with 2 sonic games of different types and a adapter of some kind like a genie. it then went to a different menue. dont remember how i did that. i just switch cartridges around and it happened. any body know about that?

This works with games that have music that can be heard in a regular CD player, but not others. Most will apply the old CD's timestamps to the new CD, though (tracks will start halfway through/end suddenly etc.) I like doing this with the original wipEout because it puts reverb on the music when you go through tunnels :)
