This is great, thank you so much! Do you block the pieces before you begin seaming? What if it's acrylic yarn? Thanks again for the wonderful tutorials.
@ShainaBilow3 ай бұрын
Hi - I only block before seaming if my fabric has a lot of textures (cable, lace, interesting knit/purl combos). For Stockinette sweaters, I block after the seaming is complete. I forget the yarn that I used... it was a chunky weight acrylic from a craft chain like Joanne Fabrics or Michaels.

What about if we have a pattern? Not stocking stitches for the shoulder seam?
@ShainaBilow5 ай бұрын
The concept is the same. If you do some digging, you'll see the "V" and "A" lines hidden underneath your purl stitches in your stitch pattern.

Hi Shaina, I'm a new subscriber. I'm looking for advice on seaming the shoulder of a fisherman's stitch sweater. I think your mattress stitch demo for rib is brilliant, but I'm not sure it will work for fisherman's stitch.
@ShainaBilow11 ай бұрын
Instead of seaming a "V" to an "A", you might have better alignment in Fisherman's Rib if you seam a "V" to a "V". All stitches in knitting can be broken down into whether we are looking at a cast on/bind off edge or a side edge and then that information dictates the type of seam to work. Fisherman's rib has the "V"'s from the cast on/bind off edge... the side seams would be more challenging as the structure of the rows is a little condensed. I'd recommend working slowly and not trying to take too much fabric up at once onto your needle.
