Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. It has the most populous urban area in Sweden as well as in Scandinavia. 1 million people live in the municipality, approximately 1.6 million in the urban area, and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. Outside the city to the east, and along the coast, is the island chain of the Stockholm archipelago. The area has been settled since the Stone Age, in the 6th millennium BC, and was founded as a city in 1252 by Swedish statesman Birger Jarl. It is also the county seat of Stockholm County.

Confident (but lagom, of course) exhibition design, a pleasant attention to detail as well as the big picture cohesion.

Internationally, Strindberg is known for a few plays. The naturalistic 'Miss Julie' as well as the spaced out 'A dream play' are both still resonating with directors, it seems.

I was interested in the exhibit about British fashion influence but our links with Scandinavia run much deeper! A huge swathe of England was under Viking rule "Danelaw" for centuries and a lot of Brits have Nordic DNA. I have Swedish and Danish ancestry. My forebears were Vikings who settled in the Orkney Islands. We all did a DNA test a few years ago and I have Sweden/Denmark/Scotland/Ireland/England, my sister is Denmark/Scotland/Norway/Ireland/England and my brother just has Sweden/Scotland/England! Fascinating stuff and proves that most Brits are a bit Norse!

I've never been to the Nordiska Museet so this was really interesting and has persuaded me to go when I'm in Stockholm again. I laughed at the old school Swedish apartment which was furnished the same way as my grandparents home in the UK! You said it was like your grandma's home Daniel - everyone had the same furniture back in the day! It was a very charming video and really nice to "meet" Sara and learn some Swedish history.

One more thing, Isaw in museum is tipical swedish staircase. This is maybe scandinavian. I my country on flat doors we have numbers, in Sweden names (surname) About old kitcen. I have repaired few of them. Some people on Skargard still like this style or similar. Sometimes mixed with modern staf.

Yea, only now watching your video. Many comments try to not forgot. :) I live in Stockholm some years, but newer try visit any museum. Now I see, it was wrong thinking :) So much intresting there, and if I rememmber this museum was for free. Påtår ingår - yes tipisk svensk. I think its almost everywere in SWE its works. Maybe except Presbyran and other kiosks, (kafe och bule) On the ferry to Riga was sign Påtår ingår inte, only in swedish, cause nobody else will ask for second cup :)

Now this was a nice tour! Love museums & this one will definitely go on my list for when I visit Stockholm!🙂 8:35 - At Uni I did my dissertation on (partly) how the Sámi are represented in Viking literature; a bit like having 'outsiders' within, so to say, they also speak a totally alien language more related to Finnish & (very distantly) to Hungarian, which is fascinating (to me); it's unfortunate that in Sweden they are not as recognised, actually Norway has made more efforts towards their representation & acknowledgment of their culture; if anybody is interested to listen to their language in some contemporary media, Netflix's Klaus gives a nice shout-out to them.☺ This was great - also, *yes* to having more guests in the future!💙

In Spanish, Påsk is "Pascua" and in French "Pâques". The accent on â indicates that in the past, an "s" followed after "a". The word derives from Ancient Greek "paskha", an this one from Hebrew "pesah" (passage). Påsk in English Is "Easter" and in German "Ostern".

Disappointing, the museum is shown very poorly. Exhibits not shown. Basically the middle of the rooms, where the exhibits are from the right and left. If you are afraid of your own reflection in the glass, do not make a video about the museum.
