@dumarnimohiilnaag4316 Yes, even being happily married to a sweet, kind man, it's annoying to have to keep mouth shut out of love. And I've never been healthy after getting married. It was hard on the "female parts." 53 years later, I still fragile "down there."

I went to go see the Broadway Play and their movie “Having Our Say”. I sat down and visited with the two DelanySisters, they were wonderful. My Great Grandmother lived to be 112 (1859-1971). My Grandfather lived to be 110:(1877-1987) My Grandmother lived to be 103 (1905-2008). My parents are entering their 90’s. I grew up with respecting and enjoying the company of my elders. Even volunteered in a retirement home in college. I loved hearing their stories. People have no idea what an invaluable education you can obtain by sitting down with your elders. Do not toss aside an opportunity to hear about your history from people that were there, before that opportunity is gone.

This book changed my life as a kid and has influenced my work today as a producer. I did my first monologue as a theater kid based on Dr. Bessie’s opening chapter: “People learned not to mess with me from day one.” Me and my classmate did a two woman play based their dialogue and had our classmates laughing. I also had the gift of seeing it on Broadway as a kid. It changed the way I view the concept of “old people” forever and for the better, I believe. Thank you for your work Ms. Hill Hearth!

One of my favorite parts of their story is how they did NOT want a telephone-even if someone was paid to be in their home to answer it. I remember chuckling, at the time, about that statement Well, I too, am now at the age where I don’t want another electronic gizmo of any kind; I’ve had ENOUGH, even if I had unlimited IT support the answer is still NO! God bless, you Two, for leading the charge: No thank you! Don’t need it! Don’t want it! 😂❤️

Yes brings back memories of sitting with my two Aunts … they told us many stories of life early in their lives in the south , migrating to NYC during the Harlem Renaissance and the real deal in the about those “rebels boys” as Bessie always called them…. Funny when I was born they they were in the late 60’s…. my grandfather (Lucious) died Before I was 8.. and all the brothers and sisters were activist and trailblazers but they are part of an amazing family and it was great knowing them and hearing about my family and history they came out of down in south and later and legacy their they left for us to realize
