Luna is a 3-legged Belgian Malinois who had been abandoned by her owners at the veterinary clinic after her leg had to be amputated due to an injury. We don't have other details about her life with her previous owners, only that she had been bought as a puppy and they kept her in a kennel in the backyard of their house. Luna is very loving with people, good with most dogs, but not with cats. She is super smart and curious and loves to be trained new tricks. She would be happiest with a family who has experience in dealing with a Belgian Malinois.
Additional details: 1.5 yrs old, spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated.

I have a 1 yr old dog . He has an elbow dysplasia. We don't know what the future holds for him . One day he might need an amputation but I would never leave him behind...

Who would abandon such a sweet dog?😭 Whereas dogs are always fiercely loyal, humans are oftentimes decidedly less so, evidently. Still, the good people at Howl of a dog give me some measure of faith in mankind.

Some people are only interested in perfection. They just cannot see a dog for what they are now just what they used to be. Im sad for her but happy she is doing great we as humans don't deserve them ! They endure so so much and learn to forgive and trust again ! Awww I love tripods. I have a tripod staffie who was abandoned after being used and abused for breeding. She got run over by a car and almost died, with 7 dead puppies in utero. Her remaining back leg is plated at the hip. She can run and play now, just like Luna. Luna, you brave girl! Tripods are the best!💖💯💥

That hurts seeing how heartless and painful her owners are on abandoning her and I would adopt this sweet baby in a heartbeat but I can't have a dog because where I live. It's amazing how y'all take her in and have her placed for adoption. She needs lots of love and I hope she finds a forever home.

I had a three legged lab, which was very happy and could do almost anything but climbing stairs. A tripod is totally no problem, at least if they miss one of the rear legs. I hope he will find a good home!

I had a black lab named Mama Joy. She had 3 legs. She was my best friend. We loved each other very much.

I had a Tripod Cat (rear leg) - lost it to cancer when he was 7. Died a couple of years ago at the Age of 19. Only 2 or 3 weeks after the Operation he was climbing 6 foot fences. Animals just work with what they have got, they don't let it affect them :)

I have a question about having a three legged dog. How did he get on with walking, running and getting on the couch. Our German shepherd has an elbow dysplasia. He had a surgery and for now he leads happy life . In the future if it gets worse they would consider amputation if nothing else could be done. Would appreciate if you replied to my comment:)

@@katarzynaidzikowska4209 If its a rear leg I think it could be fine. Missing a front leg is more difficult because more weight on there (chest and head). Please note, here in the Netherlands, the whole operation and all the checks were very expensive (about €3000 in 2011). We were glad we had an insurance which paid most of it. But prices can differ in other countries of course. With only 1 back leg dogs can run and swim fine, however walking stairs probably not and walking on a leash is more energy consuming for them. You should take that into account. But the dog can be very happy on 3 legs. Good luck! 🍀😀

Malis are great dogs! Thank you to the vet. How can you care for a dog for 18 months and then conclude it should be euthanized. I suppose they at least they took her to a vet. It is their loss. Thank you for taking her in Howl of a Dog, I hope she finds the loving home she deserves.

@@anng.4542 thanks. I already got told I can't adopt Luna. I live too far away. But I think I would prefer the War Dogs anyway. I served with a couple of Malinois in Iraq. That's where I fell in love with them.
