Something I notices is that ponies that have a talent for magic usually have some space related cutie mark (sun, moon, stars), and Sweetie Belle has a star on her cutie mark! (It might be a bit of a stretch but I wanted to comment that xd)

Not only that, but unicorns have been shown to excel at magic related to their special talent and cutie mark. Sweetie Belle got her cutie mark through helping others with their cutie marks. So, it's not to far of a stretch to think that while Starlight excelled in cutie mark related magic because of the dedication and time, Sweetie Belle may have an advantage because *she was predestined to possess that kind of magic*. All this to say Sweetie Belle probably would have been a phenomenal choice if pre-reformation Starlight wanted to recruit somebody to continue the legacy.

04:30 Twilight Sparkle, The Unicorn Chosen -One- _Second_ of Celestia did NOT knew how to teleport. -> She "mimics" the spell used by Nightmare Moon previously to teleport herself, the 5 Rocks of Harmony (and Twilight, accidentally) to surprise her. On the next episode (Ticket Master), Twilight ACCIDENTALLY teleported herself & Spike (almost killing him) in a state of panic. -> She spent the rest of summer practicing it, unsure of using it again to save herself from a Hydra (later failing to casting it the first time on purpose to escape from Garble & his murderous dragon buddies). -> Seeetie Belle has the exact same aura color shade than Sunset Shimmer (without her Geod of Empathy), just a bit less saturated [lack of experience].

BUT!: She is the main antagonist (first) & main character (later), of the entire "sister franchise" of MLP: Equestria Girls.

this was my headcanon for many years now! mlp is my special interest since 2013. One of my theories is that applebloom will have a bad relationship with applejack in the future. Applebloom very often showed non-''apple''-like values. (e.g. lack of desire to cultivate tradition) I have the impression that her membership in cmc was more important to her than family's stuff. She may only teach at school in the future, not take care of the farm as applejack probably planned for her. This would explain why in the future Applejack lives with Rainbow Dash (she imagined the future of the farm differently, which is why she gave up living there. However, she still helps) I also think about the fact that Bicmac and his wife (sugarbelle) apparently stayed on the farm? and have a kid there together?

Tbh I actually can see this as we know rainbow dash LOVES cider so I can see her and aj in the farm time tl time. Plus like u said abt Sugarbelle & Big Mac 100% they will continue the farm legacy.. tho I feel like apple bloom will still be close with aj tbh 😭 I can’t imagine they’ll being distant cuz even tho they had their moments, she still knows her way back home no matter what

Levitating another pony isn't really that hard, we've seen Rarity levitating Pinkie in the finale and Rarity's talent isn't magic. So I think every unicorn can levitate one pony but they just don't do it.

Rarity also could've gotten some help improving from twilight, or alternatively, Rarity is constantly moving things around with her magic while working and making clothes, she likely has so much training lifting several things at once she is able to lift a pony

Levitating herself or another mare is ANOMALOUS. -> Twilight Sparkle, The (highest level) unicorn could barely do it by the season 3 premiere (she certainly could NOT in season 1). | . The simple fact that there are no laws/regulations regarding lifting an earth pony (making them restrained & helpless, since they are normally nude & could not throw anything); sugests that "whoever can do it, has the power of authority" by default. -> Dragging or tackling can be overcome by raw strength, but not without a solid thing/surface to pivot.

Furthermore, Rarity surprised EVERYPONY (even herself) when she managed to lift+throw a rock heavier than Twilight over the length of the Throne Room in the S9 Finale. -> She also used the same "Diamond Shield" than her human EQG counterpart against Chrysalis beam attack [without the "Boost" of a magical Geod] in the final battle. . It seems lile she was training some self-defense "in secret" (she did the same thing with martial arts, only "revealing" this skill while under the "influence" of Discord's hopless maguc in the S2 Premiere).

*YO,* this was my post. I learned about this video existing from a Reddit DM, and I must say that it was astonishing to see that a video inspired by it had garnered no less than _21,000 views_ thus far. I'm really glad that post was considered pretty good food for thought for you, and everyone watching this video. A sizable reason for this line of thinking was, given there are some broad similarities to Bubbles from Powerpuff Girls, and the fact that she can go "Hardcore" if she's pushed/pushing herself hard enough, then the same might potentially apply for Sweetie Belle. ...To expand upon my thoughts for Sweetie Belle's similarities to Starlight, I find it plausible that you can have her go down a darker path by, say, something happening to Rarity. If there's anything that would potentially awaken her darker side... I think it would be things like that. I think there's a _lot_ of potential for stories, along these lines, whether it be for that aforementioned note, and/or on a lighter note, to have, say, Sweetie Belle having Starlight start teaching her magic _in addition_ to Twilight, start teaching her more fun things than Twilight would, like how to self-levitate. Also Starlight might find herself worried about Sweetie potentially going down a negative path, if she isn't dealing with some serious circumstances well, try to be there for her, in a similar vein to Luna's interactions with her.

@@chuckboy864 yep! That's why they're called _Earth_ ponies. They need to be strong in their field (heheh. Puns) of work! Applebloom isn't weak but when rewatching the series (on season 4) she has struggled a bit in farming but not to the extent of Sweetie Belle or Scootaloo

We can't updoot the post, it's too old and got archived. Super interesting though, and great video! I do wonder if it was intentional to some degree by the MLP writers. It also reminds me of the links between Twilight Sparkle, Starlight Glimmer, Sunset Shimmer and Moon Dancer. Similar names and appearances aside, they're all more or less alternate futures of each other/Twilight. Starlight is Twilight if Shining Armor was chosen instead of her for Celestia's school. Sunset is Twilight if she wasn't happy with her studies and turned sour. Moon Dancer is Twilight if she never kept any friends and stayed buried in her studies. Twilight, Starlight and Sunset have similar names. Twilight and Sunset were both pupils of Celestia. Twilight and Starlight have similar colors. Moon Dancer was a color-swap of Twilight with glasses as a filly. Lots of similarities! Also shows, just like the time travel episodes, that Twilight got _insanely_ lucky. If someone else was chosen, or if Celestia never sent her to Ponyville, or if Twilight was too impatient with her studies, she would have turned out evil or insane or a complete shut-in.

Starlight could've literally written to Sunburst while he was at school but decided to start a cult instead Sunburnt was probably pretty busy studying a bunch because he sucked at actually doing spells and was trying to figure out where he went wrong And because of his social anxiety I'm pretty sure him noticing that even after months of him being gone he hadn't received a single letter from Starlight would make him think she didn't want to talk to him

I've actually heard this argument before! Do remember, in the season 8 episode "The Parent Map", it was confirmed that Sunburst would normally throw away any letters he received without even looking at them, assuming they belonged to his mother, so it's possible Starlight may _have_ written to Sunburst, but inevitably, her letters got thrown away and she never received any response, so she kinda just.. started her cult. I still see what you're saying though.

I agree with the idea to some degree, SB struggled with magic early on however as the series progressed she became pretty good at it. She is also pretty manipulative at times and she does have a temper occasionally. But as you said she is much more natural at socializing than starlight and she is surrounded by many good role models which will (probably) prevent her from becoming a criminal.

Sweetie has a problem and that her functional mom is Rarity, who is a Narcissist and manipulative when around, and neglectful most other times. Fundamental reason Sweetie Bell will never be like Starlight Glimmer is because Starlight Glimmer is a psychopath. She is a grounded, low spectrum one, but she is obviously living with psychopathic traits that she gets a better handle on as the show progresses. This is important, because psychopathy is genetic, not acquired. Sweetie is empathetic, if conniving, she can’t be an ASPD case like Glimmy.

@@Mortablunt Her parents are not particularly present probably although we don't know to what degree. And I think you might be a little harsh on Rarity, she is busy but she tries to spend time with her sister, I don't see Rarity as narcissistic and while she is the most manipulative of the main 6 its not to a problematic degree. I also wouldn't say that SG is a psychopath, she does show empathy (from S6) and regret (even in S5 finale) (I think cozy glow is a psychopath). Anyway, SG lacked empathy during S5, something SB most certainly shows throughout the show and thats obviously a big difference as you pointed out. SG showed many ASPD symptoms unlike SB.

@@leopardndf6971 You can argue that Starlight is characterized by having some Borderline traits (which incidentally is a differential diagnosis from ASPD); she can be prone to black and white thinking, frantic efforts to avoid abandonment, emotional instability, and so on. Her self-esteem also shows some pretty serious fragility at times. Either way, Starlight is kind of defined by caring _too much,_ in some ways, in a way that I don't think people on the psychopathy spectrum, low end or not, would be inclined to do. The S5 finale basically ended in her having a complete breakdown in a way that it resulted in Twilight mirroring the act of talking someone down from a ledge, if you think about the framing.

I'd always thought Sweetie Speeding away in Harmonizing Heights was just a jokey physics breaking moment, I never noticed she was using her horn! I always thought it was a bit of a missed opportunity to never have the CMC and Starlight interact and discuss cutie marks together, even more so now how it could have shown the parallels between Sweetie and Starlight!

I actually think that Earth ponies and Pegasi magic is similar to Unicorn magic; each pony only has a little magic that suits their special talent, unless magic IS their special talent. A -not exact but close enough- quote from the season 1 episode of MLP where Trixie was introduced for reference: Spike: "I thought Unicorns were only supposed to have a little magic for their special talent!" Twilight: "But what if a Unicorns special talent _is_ magic?" Like with Rainbow Dash, her special talent is the sonic rainboom, which is why no other Pegasus can fly fast enough to perform it, and why it was believed to be a myth. Applejack is able to buck apple trees, which requires a lot of strength, strength she _lost_ when Starlight took her Cutie Mark. It's even shown in the scene where they're breaking into Starlights house that she had been reduced to _Rarity's_ level of strength! Speaking of Rarity, she has a natural talent for finding gemstones, to the point her horn _dragged her across Equestria_ to find a huge geode! Everypony has the magic they need for their special talents, but it's only Twilight and Starlight that are overpowered, since magic _is_ their special talent. Credit to Star Strike for pointing out that quote from Spike and Twilight, this comment wouldn't have existed otherwise.

Sweetie has a cutie mark of a musical note (apart from being a crusader). All unicorns with a talent for magic have cutie marks that have something to do with stars, the sun or the moon (cosmic cutie marks)

I do think teleporting for a unicorn is insinctual. In one scene where Twilight was being chased in ponyville back when she was a unicorn she had closed her eyes and teleported out of a backed corner. Then the next scene showed spike her being confused on why that happened. I don't remember the episode though.

Oh my god this video opened up my eyes (pun intended) i always thought that the teleporting in season 9 from adult Sweetie Bell was just kinda weird and inconsistent with what the show showed and was really bugging me. Thank you Cxcd and Reddit poster now i can finally die in peace. Jokes aside tho i want to say that Sweetie Bell feats of magic derives also from specific situations in wich it was somewhat needed to act and probably influenced by emotions, as magic always seems. Lastly 2:13 that was really unnecessary (/j)

In the episode were the cmc meet it’s shown that not even Twilight can give a pony a cutie mark in the episode that introduces Trixie it is mentioned that unicorns have magic based off of their cutie mark sweaty bell has a cutie mark based cutie mark. In mainly gen 5 but still quite often in gen 4 it is shown that cutie mark magic is heavily different from any other magic and basically the driving force to who a pony is theoretically if sweetie bell did beacome like glimmer she wouldn’t only be able to give everyone a blank cutie mark but might also be able to give them every mark in one … if Applebloom gets the cutie pox again she’ll probably be fine with this friend

I don't think Starlight can ultimately be said to have killed people in the alt timelines (even if she was definitely evil enough to have done that lol). The idea that the other "timelines" exist simultaneously with the main timeline is never established in the show, and in fact, when Zecora explains time travel's functionality to Twilight, she shows a stream's course being diverted, but NOT split.
