Hospital mistake led two women to grow up in the wrong families.

Wouldn't it be so sad If a child was accidently switched into an abusive family when they potentially could have lived with maybe a millionare.
@TheYasmineFlower8 жыл бұрын
That would never happen. Hospitals are especially careful with the children of rich people. Probably give them an entire suite together.

There's one where he ended up not in an abusive home, but poor & had to work alot When he found out & meets his real mom, he ended up staying with her.. and the kid that was the other woman's didn't go to her. It's heartbreaking.

Not ridiculous rich but poor in comparison with the other family, it have happened, I saw the Russian one someone mention other in Colombia, in Africa as well but they find our super soon and are 4 year olds with different sex and one of the mothers don't want to switch because she wanted a girl, so they haven't switched yet but the other mother wants to switch is really sad because the kids don't understand if suddenly they change their parents

You know, honestly... I think family really doesn't matter about blood. But it really matters about love.And the affection they give you.

Nhan Tran lethal lani is correct. Blood doesn't matter. I was adopted into an absolutely wonderful family. My mother gave birth to my brother and then sadly, lost two babies that were stillborn. They adopted me because they couldn't have any more biological children, even so, my brother and I were treated the same. I,too, would not want to have a different mother or father and I am so happy that my biological parents gave me up to the most wonderful parents ever! My adoptive parents ARE my real parents, they are the ones who raised me with love and affection. Although, just out of curiosity, I would love to meet my biological family. But I doubt that it will ever happen...I am a month shy of turning 42 years old and I have no information about my biologicals. Blood absolutely does not matter. My parents told me that I was adopted when I was about 2 years old, so I have always known. Plus, lol, it was kind of obvious when looking at a family photograph, my parents and brother all have black hair and blue eyes with a dark complexion. As you can see from my picture, I have blonde hair, green eyes and am extremely pale! I wouldn't change my family for anything :)

+ThousandHardships It's not from the children's side. Children want their real parents, the family they belong to by blood and the mothers that gave birth to them.
@TheYasmineFlower8 жыл бұрын
+lethal lani Blood family matters more than any other. An adoptee could have been given to any adoptive family. A switchee could have ended up with any wrong family. But you can never change the family whose blood you share. For better or for worse, they are a part of you and your own children. You can never separate from them completely.

This almost happened to my grandmother back in the 1920's. When they placed "her" baby boy in her arms, she said, "This is not my baby." The nurse placated her and told her that of course the baby was hers. But my grandmother was adamant. You see, one of her best friends also gave birth on the same day and the baby in her arms was the spitting image of the woman's husband! The baby was brought back out and the nurse returned with apologies and my real uncle. It seemed that the other woman had the same reaction when handed my uncle, who was the spitting image of my grandfather!

I remember when my Daughter was born at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, back in 1982. There was 4 other women that had their babies. On the day 2 were leaving, I was just sitting there. The Nurse came in with one of the babies. As she handed her the baby, she there's to your little girl. The Mom started to say Something. I jumped in with That's not your little girl. They both looked at me. The Mom saud No she doesn't look like mine. The Nurse got upset then checked the tag. It was not her baby. When the Nurse left, the Mom Thanked me, it was her 1st Baby. After that I called for my little girl and said I don't want to leave my side. Even taking a Shower I had my Sister in there to watch her. But it can happen in a Heartbeat. It's sad to know these children went thru this Never knowing their Real Mommy and Daddy 😢

this could be my grandmother's story too if she wasn't so adament about her feeling. She had her second child/first son in 1952 and at one of the feedings the nurse handed her a baby that looked smaller and had a darker complexion to the baby she rememebered. The nurses laughed it off and left her there. She breastfed the child who didn't eat as much as usual and then my grandma knew this wasnt her baby so she went to find him. She walked to all the rooms, looked at all the babies and luckily she found him with a mother who was also unsure if she had the right baby. They both looked at the babies in each other's arms knew it was a mix up. This boy is now my godfather and is 70 years old and looks like the spitting image of my late grandfather so there is proof that despite of nőt having DNA testing they did the right thing of switching back the babies.

I was switched with a baby at NYU hospital in manhatten in 1987. My mom realized when she took her son home, and went to change the diaper and quickly realize it was a girl. No less, an asian baby girl. To this day I still dont know if I left the hospital with the other family, and what that was like. Also I wonder had I grown up with them how much worse, or maybe how much fucking awesomely better my life would have been.

When my mom was in the hospital after having my brother, a woman next to her was freaking out that they had brought her the wrong baby, and that was in the 80s!
@Dentropolis3 жыл бұрын
Something like this might be much more common than you think. A while back in Britain they went to a hospital and tested the new born child’s DNA to that of the mother’s husband and supposed father. Apparently 8% (or maybe one out of 8 which is 15%) of the babies were NOT the child of the father but the child of some other guy that the mother was having an affair with! Many people think this is as common as this. DNA tests are not generally done but often medical staff will KNOW that the blood type of the husband and the new birth child do NOT allow them to be matched as father and child. Nobody says a thing to the husband. It’s kept a secret.

Good grief! This seems like a common problem. I wonder how many people have gotten the wrong medication, surgery, or other treatment because of the wrong identification? I knew about a guy that had to have a leg removed, and they took off the wrong leg, he ended up with no legs! The worst that happens is money gets paid out, people should be fired, licences to practice should be permanently revoked, and negligent employees should have to clean toilets the rest of their lives with no retirement!

There was a story in Glamour magazine several years ago where a hospital switched two babies. One child was biracial Latino and white and the other was red-headed and fair skin. The Latino mom just that her daughter took after her father and raised her as her own but the biracial child grew up with a stigma in her family of gingers with fair skin referred to as the dark one. I felt so bad for her, reading the story you can tell she was never accepted by those she thought was family.

What the hell does it matter who's your biological parents. Being parents is a lot more than that. It's changing diapers, teaching to walk, talk, helping through bad times, helping with homework, guiding. Your parents are the people who did all that for you. Not the ones who gave you your DNA.

My sister was given to a Mexican woman and mom got the Mexican baby. Mom was happy with the switch but the Mexican woman raised an eyebrow and said that this baby (my sister) was not hers. They investigated and found out the truth and switched them back before the women left the hospital with the wrong babies. My sister grew up with strawberry blond hair and very fair skin and freckles. Both babies had hair down to their eyebrows and very black hair on their bodies. It all fell out and that's when my sister's hair grew in strawberry blond.

not the same as adoption. With adoption yu choose to love a child and make them your own. In this case their child was given to someone else and vice versa. People make mistakes, that's a given. I've been queen of them and so am so very happy I never chose any type of job or career where big mistakes could lead to ruining lives or killing someone. So medical people have some guts, or they're crazy, lol! Of course whoever made this mistake never knew they made it. Or, hate to think this but these people exist ... what if one or both of the moms was a bit aggressive with this person? What if this was done intentionally? They say "accidental", but they really don't know that. I felt really sad for the blonde. She seems to be holding back some secrets herself. Like something happened to her that would otherwise not have happened if they weren't switched. I never judge people for their mistakes. Where I get crazy mad, is when people use all their energy to maintain some sort of "perfect" character and so take no responsibility for their mistakes. The problem is, mistakes are what propels us to evolve, grow up, learn and so not repeat those mistakes. That's a big and ugly part of the human condition, because this leads to them grabbing whatever convenient scapegoat is available to pin their mistake or conscious decision on. I believe these perfect people are called Narcissists. They SUCK BAD!
