Jon Foreman- "This one started with the guitar hook I came up with during sound-check; however, most of the song took shape in a hotel room in Australia. I was thinking about how love (not just lust or codependency that commonly flood the tunes on the airways) actually involves quite a bit of faith. There's a lot of letting go involved. Two souls in love is an intricate dance of give and take. I can be a fairly solitary person from time to time. Sure, I love being with people, but I also need time alone. I guess I thrive on the poles. So this song is about the dance involved in a relationship the coming together and letting go. The song equates love with breathing- pulling in and releasing. Or a seed, for the seed to grow it has to be dropped and buried. In our barcode media, love is often portrayed as consumption. As consumers in a commercial driven culture we can begin to view other souls as objects, or potential cures for our deepest fears and insecurities. "Perhaps if I found the right lover I would no longer feel this deep existential despair." But of course no human soul could be the Constant Other, the face that will never go away. Only the infinite can fill that role. But the silence can be deafening. It's a fearful thing to be alone. Do you love me enough to let me go? "I can't live without you"- "I would die if you ever left me"- These are not the songs of love, these are the songs of consumption."

When you look back, you'll realize that if you had a choice to go back and avoid the struggle, you won't won't want to! Just hope and pray, ask God to show you the calm in the storm. This band led me back to Christ. His love is never failing and He always has a greater plan for us then we can even imagine. Even if its just us stepping back and reflecting on us loving ourselves so we can love others. It is our job to be his ambassadors. We are above His angels.

I have been going through something and I believe that finding Jesus has helped me to understand that sometimes you have to do the hardest thing and love someone enough to let them go. I have been thinking about this a lot and then I found this song. Sometimes you have to let go, even if it's the most painful thing ever.

Switchfoot is an amazing band and I can't thank them enough, their music (with God's help) have gotten me through so much. When everything seems like it's falling apart it's like their music tells me "calm down and enjoy life".

This morning the only sounds flowing through San Francisco are the swirling and rustling winter leaves. It’s a cold, dry, bright day. I’m sitting in my sunny corner with my glass in hand. The “Back from the dead of winter” line crossed my mind, I couldn’t remember where I’d heard the lyric and melody. I’m happy I found the song again. I remembered loving this song, how the melody almost carries you. It got me through a time like a good comforting friend.

This song can obviously be tied to the struggle of letting a loved one move on(in whatever way), but I think it can also tie into the struggle the disciples(especially Peter) had with Jesus' impending death "every seed dies before it grows".

Death. This is a song that talks of lies emotional manipulations to abuse or say someone holds or leaves.I cannot hold or leave my life. My husband, my children. My parents even though they need help. What a lie. Paint. My only thought is why would a human have such. When the world is big and lots of people? It's confusing when writers exhalt purity over manic and lust. How joyful will life be on earth if people know it's one life, one way, one truth.
