Super late in the piece but with the Re-Re Avante 2011, the "L" shaped bracket is adjustable. Move it to the most Forward position. The driver figure by the manual is held on by a round headed screw. 2mm difference..It interferes with the batteries case.. If you remove the Bottom deck (easier than the top deck) and countersink the mounting hole you can fit a countersunk screw and a 5200mah Zeee 2s hardcase Lipo will fit. It takes up every mm of room but it'll fit.

I used a Peak pack in my CC-01. Same design as nimh pack. It was a little long so instead of battery door I keep the connector lead short and use 3M locking tape. Works good for a trail truck.

VALUABLE information Glenn! I would imagine that a Lepo in any of the ORVs would be a good fit. NiMHs were always floppy in those!! From my own experience, almost NOTHING will fit in a CC01... You could probably get that Batry in a DT-02 or TT-01/02. I've fit a 3S Batry in my TT-02!! 😲😎 one word - FAST! Wish I had found this Video sooner. Yeah I hear ya it’s has to be a max of 134MM. I have here in the US a Venom 2S and that is one that I know was marketed towards us vintage guys. There is such a huge difference w/ lipo vs nimh.

I have that same lipo. It's too long for my CC01. There's a brand on Amazon called Gartpot. They make a 2s lipo that is the same dimensions and the leads are also in the middle of a Nimh. I use them in my CC01 and my TT01 Type E and they fit perfectly.

For real. I have some Venom stick lipo's that work. I just recently purchased a bunch of Peak 4,300mAH 2s lipo's-- They didn't fit in my Egress (I had to move the front support forward about 3/8" and drill new holes). This is where I have to thank Kyosho for upgrading their re-releases :) On my Top Force, I ended up installing some Exotek battery mounts (Originally meant for a Losi, I believe).

Floureon has lipos that'll fit almost any vintage or current model rc, try one of those. They're really cheap but you get good performance out of them.

I once got a vintage Tamiya on eBay that came with a standard rectangle shaped lipo stuck inside the battery compartment. Sometimes they go in but if they puff just a little, then, it can get stuck. I use a Peak Racing - Powermax Sport 4200 2s Lipo because it’s in a hard case that’s shaped exactly like a standard NiMH pack with rounded corners and not very thick. It easily fits in all my vintage Tamiyas.

2200mah 2s Lipo Turnigy 35-70c is very small, half that size and it has good power, good run time and its very light.

Once ye go lipo your nimh will all become shelf queen stock 👍🏻

You should try using the Dynamite Reaction 2S 1800 mAh 7.4V from Horizon Hobby. It has rounded sides and can fit most Tamiya cars.

That said I’m gonna get a racing fighter on the DT03 chassis and use as my first lipo and brushless project. God help me!!!! Also noticed in this video the box art pictures behind you. You just can’t beat the tamiya box art it’s sensational. It’s what got me hooked in the first place. Walked into the model shop as a kid and the tamiya kits stood out a mile. I’m now 48 years old and still love this hobby and still only care for tamiya😃😃😃😃

Peak power makes a 2&3s that are direct replacement for stick pack nimh..reedy wolf pack also fit perfectly in tamiya i ran in my rere hotshot & lunchy

I use Team Orion 3700 nimh packs in my Falcon and Yello 2s 6000 mah in my Blitzer Beetle. Perfect fit. But will not fit in my TA03, TL01 and similar battery trays.

Yes Glenn , Now I have had to find some Lipo style Tamiya round Packs for some of the buggies i have now as im getting a few odds and ends into the collection being vintage latest one ive found is the hummer 1025 also the TL01 Mercedes Original Tiele so i have had to buy some of those 2S lipo 3600 mha as couldnt find any larger Mha in that Lipo range , bloody hell even the New Model CC01 has the cut out for the Nimh packs too , you think as its a modern day chassis they would have catered for modern day batteries , Gee's Tamiya Get with the Program Guys lol ,cheers glen thanks for an old video but a handy one at that :-))))

i found a "Venom Power 2S 20C Hard Case LiPo Battery w/UNI 2.0 Connector (7.4V/4000mAh) (Rounded Edges for Tamiya)" that looks like it would fit; it says it's only 132mm long which would be just fine for those bathtub chassis like the df01 / ta02 / ff01.

Just come across this as recently got a rocket v5 brushless to put in my bigwig and was looking at lipo battery packs as well. Fortunately the bigwig has a fair bit of foam padding at either end so shouldn't have too much difficulty. My Terrascorcher might have the same issue as your Boomerang as the mounting is identical. From other comments though i might also have to swap out the tble2s speed controllers. Any recommendations that would be available in Scotland/UK?

You could wind the pin holders out on the top force half a turn to give you a bit of extra space so you don't have to force the crp straps down..... I use overlander batteries which aren't in a hard shell in all my cars, they are slightly smaller than the old nimh batteries but you can always use a small bit of foam padding if they are too loose. I personally don't like the hard case lipos because there is no warning if they start to deteriorate and swell up. I had one completely expand in my B4 and it popped the hard case off and got complete stuck under the battery strap, I had to risk my fingers to get it out, wasn't fun.

I think, and may be completely incorrect, it's because the 'cell', if that's correct, is not like a typical round 'c' type cell. It's more of a sack? They may be an industry standard size so close is the only size available. I haven't even tried them in any of my vintage as I'm scared they will catch fire. I'm using standard NiMh in them. I do use Lipo but only in my converted Hobao Hyper 8.5 basher. Feel free to correct me, im almost certainly wrong🤪

Turnigy has 4200 mah 40c lipo stick packs that fit I believe all tamiyas that take the nicad/nimh stick battery packs

For bashing I just run 1500mAh 2s. They fit in all tamiyas. You can buy non hard case ones and put them in a big nice fitting hard case. They will still push out good voltage and long runtimes perfect for bashing. They are light so you get a nice performance boost. You can use them in parallel too.

I run a Venom 3s 4000 ma Lipo and it’s the same size as the 7.2 packs..

Oh i may have a sollution to your problem finding lipo packs that are the same dimensions as the racing packs.i build custom spec'd li-ion packs and can definitely do them in that configuration.theyre pretty well identical in size to a racing pack.i assemble that style pack in a 2s2p configuration.it just meant that theres 2 sets of 2 li-ion cells.each set is in parallel configuration and the those two sets of parallel cells are wired in series to get the 7.4 volts.theyre balance lead equipped and work with any lipo charger.if you wanna pay the shipping ill build ya one and ya can try it out.if ya like it.....maybe let the tamiya guys know about me?? There really shouldn't be a problem here. Lipos are generally 1/4 the size of Nicads and less than 1/2 the size of NIMH, so all you need is packing, There is such a vast collection of Lipos around you should be able to match anything for size. The world in general is becoming anti-Lipo, hence the shipping laws. In Canada you should have no trouble getting stuff from HobbyKing.

It is tricky but there are ones that fit. Core RC make a perfect one but I can't get one here in the US lol. I have a couple Peak Racing packs that work on almost all the cars. The magic number is 134mm for length. No longer.

Yeah, such a puzzle Good video. I have an LRP 2S LiPo Hardcase power pack that fits 70-80% of my vintage/re-releases. But such chassis' as the Boomerang, TA-02, Grasshopper/Grasshopper II is a problem. When they are "closed" battery compartments (like the Grasshopper) I fit a nano lipo and secure it with a sponge in one side :-) But the open "compartments" is a problem. I did have some good suggestions in the comment section of some of my videos about batteries I need to have a go at.

Team Corally 4000mAh 2s Lipo Hardcase with rounded edges (Stickpack) does NOT fit the WT-01 chassis...I run a much smaller 1600mAh 2s Lipo which fits of course every Tamiya 1:10 car. It is simply secured with adhesive velcro.

Will the LiPo fit in an original Madcap?

I've been through my battery collection and can't find one that fits comfortably, I have a tornado 2s tamiya style hard case but it's a bit long, I know the 2s soft pack inside the case is quite a bit shorter than the hard case so I was thinking of shortening the case to fit tamiya. 2s lipo battery what is the point of it? I use the 7.2 v tamiya battery. I ask cos of the connector on ur 2s battery isn't the same. Also can any tamiya rc run a 8.4v battery so long as it fits in the car. And lastly is using 8.4v battery going to make the car faster than 7.2v?
