Grab some popcorn and enjoy what is without doubt the most underrated series on this channel. Join me and Welsh Greg as we bumble our way across pre covid central Europe with no tent, no plan and our own unique take on adventure.
Episode 1 has it all. An urban mission through the streets of Lausanne, a nights sleep in a barn in a castle grounds, and no less than SIX hitchhikes, including a free ride on a tourist train, and an unforgettable hitchhike that lead to a free wake-surfing session. If we hadn't have filmed this day, no one would have believed us.

Merry Christmas everyone. Here’s to another year of straight line missions and many other adventures. I plan to film 3 in March alone, until then, I hope you all enjoy something a bit different. Thanks for all your patience and support.

I honestly think this series might be the closest youtube has come to a medium-defining masterpiece. It's not just entertainment, this is life affirming art and is a format that could only work on youtube. It's what travel shows should be but the constraints of a full crew always get in the way. I've watched this series more than I can remember now and it never fails to remind me about the beauty in the world. The straight line missions are all great but this feels like something grander and more meaningful.

think proper telly shows have too much pressure to be too perfect, edited, pruned. another example that can be compared is the top gear specials - though it's brilliant a lot of the 'moments' are clearly scripted for entertainment. people who click on smoething like this are well aware that it might be a slow burn with less 'crazy moments' but that makes it more real and interesting when something exciting does happen - and also more relatable to real life experience than the fantasy world of tv the boston to miami series has my full attention because he's kept it true to the format of this but the production quality has only gone up

32:54 Every Portuguese person I've ever met has been really nice. I lived there for almost a year and I never once met a single unfriendly person. Not long after my friends and I arrived, we went to buy a load of food and none of our cards would work. The woman that owned the shop didn't speak any English but the guy behind us translated for her. She told us to come back and pay some other time. We kept going back to that shop the entire time we lived there. None of us consumed any dairy so we bought the few soya products she had and the third or fourth time we went back she came over to us excitedly saying "Soja! Soja!" and took us over to the spot that she'd cleared out and stocked up with loads of different soya products.

What is wrong with people like you? I guess I just don’t know anyone who isn’t socially capable... even before the virus did you stay inside 24/7?
@funsize69
@funsize69 3 жыл бұрын
@@KaneK1234 I don't expect you to read this but who knows. I can only talk on my behalf. No, enjoyed being outside. Used to. So. I've been diagnosed with aspergers when I was 12, for me just meaning I've a hard time keeping eye contact, picking up on social cues, being considered blunt or even rude for not participating in socially expected niceties(for ex. Pretending your happy to see someone you barely know, hugging people, just being expressive in general) as a kid having little interest in other people and such not developing many social skills. But all of that isn't the problem, because at that point I wasn't scared of interacting with people, I still enjoyed it. The problem was developed when they tried to make me conform to society's expectations. Being forced to 'therapy', being punished for not being able to do the things other kids were. The extend I can't properly explain in a yt comment. But suffice to say, it broke me. I have 0 confidence, I was gaslighted to except any and all problems are always my fault, I can't stand up for myself to this day and it bothers me so much if I feel like I seem out of place to anyone to the point of emotional break downs and sometimes even self harm. Yes I am more palatable to the general public, but at the cost of depression, social anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder, regular panic attacks, with and without trigger, absolutely NO social life and all that contributing to me not being able to keep a job or do... Basically enjoy anything I used to. So with not being able to keep a job also comes self worth issues. I feel like I've failed the kid I once was. A smart, good kid, with a bright future. My family is the one that broke me, but also my only security net. It's awful. I'm 24 now. Out of work again since August last year. It's impossible to find a therapist here and I don't know if I can go on much longer Life is about people and I can't have that

@@funsize69 do not listen to these stupid kids. We cant know what ppl are living through. I really hope you will get better by meeting the right ppl not acting like the guy in the other comment. You are not the only person living this kind of situation and I am sure you will get better with time. Maybe you should leave your past life and try to find a quiet place where you can be yourself and feel free. If you dont like human contact try to go to a remote place to find yourself again. You said you were a nice and clever kid, I am certain you can start again from there. Anyways I am not a doctor but just a human being caring about the others. But one thing is certain, self harming is the worst thing ever and it wont help you at all in the end. I really hope you will find some peace inside yourself and that you wont do anything bad. Wish you all the best! A human being

@@catnip294 I honestly think Deckard was just curious. I cannot fathom how it must be like, to be someone like the guy in the video and some ppl just cannot understand how one becomes a person like me. Don't think there was ill intent. I was away from home during my apprentice ship for four years, some things were better, others worse and I had the lowest point of my life there. The thing is, I love people and being around people, but it stresses me out beyond the point of, 'well everyone is nervous meeting new people'. I have trouble finding meaningful relationship, or even just keeping people interested. Cuz finding ppl is not hard when you are a conventionally attractive person, but when you can't engage with them properly, they just lose interest. Which is fair, they don't owe me anything. But the thing is, I didn't have these problems when I was a kid. Just after my therapy bs Btw english isnt my native language so if anything sounds wierd, that's why

4:30 Little Tip: if you want to travel without ticket always take the slow trains (S, R, RE) even if it takes longer because the chance to get controlled is way way lower than on the fast trains (IR, IC, EC) because on those theres always an inspector on board and its just a question if he reaches you and on the slow trains there are only rarely evene inspectors on board (like 95% there are no inspectors on the trains)

@@collinmclaren6608 Diceman isn't a coin of phrase, it's an old TV show that used to air in the UK. It was about a bloke from Cheshire who would go on trips around the country, sometimes other countries. While doing that he would go up to six strangers and just ask them "what would you do today?" He would take answers from each, and then assign the idea a number and roll the dice. Then he would go do that thing it landed on. He would also take destinations and ways to get to those destinations from randomers too, and they'd say some whacky places and methods. Incredible show that is unfortunately trapped up in licencing rights hell, so it has never been rebroadcast. The theme song for that show just sends me right back to being 6 and watching it on the Discovery Channel. Waste my life awaaaaaay...

You meet the best people hitchhiking. I still remember Klemen, the Slovenian truck driver who picked us up for a long stint across the country. First services we pass, he stopped, and came back with a couple of sandwiches, a crate of beer and a couple of cartons of cigarettes for us. Great banter all the way and he also rang around his mates to secure us accommodation for the night, and a lift for the ongoing journey the next day. You meet the absolute best people and I can't wait to pay it forward one day!

I'll probably be fined like hell there for anything - for instance, to go to work, I take the train without ticket every day where I live.. And the times I got caught, the controller didn't even care coz it's not a long ride.
