symbolic of the end of potential for true love, the kind of love that Eliot was finally getting ready to embrace? wtf Hale how dare you do this to my heart. I am devastated that Eliot and Quentin didn't even get to say goodbye. they had the most beautiful and heartbreaking story of all

The actors didnt know qs death was final. They shot a dummy scene that made it possible for Quentin to come back. The actors didnt know until Monday that the death was real. So when this was filmed, they thought it was a temporary death

I will say that I'm glad, at least in one timeline, they were able to actualize that love and enjoy it for a full lifetime. For me, it was real and it counts.

I'm not happy with Quentin's death however the finale was a beautiful episode. The look of Quentin when Elliot arrived at the wake. Amazing acting gave me chills.

It hurts when Julia was crying for her best friend and you can feel that she is still in denial, and her subtle shaking was also heartbreaking and her face was just [lost] then you also get the peach scene with Elliot which was the cherry on top. Absolutely wrecked me 🤧😫

I saw this on Hulu yesterday. I was already crying when Quinten died and pulled me self together. The second they started singing crying all over again. Like gross sobbing mess.

I actually legit started crying when Eliot threw the peach into the fire. And when he was holding hands with Alice both devastated. And just when Eliot was freed, they didn’t even meet again properly. And now Q is gone forever. I’m just so devastated.

I cried so hard the moment I saw Q's face seeing Elliot again. I can't. This season ender was heartbreaking. At the same time relieving coz Elliot's back, but Q. It has always been Q that glues everyone together and now. I'm crying again

"Take on me" was beautifully done by the cast! It was so emotional! You could feel their pain, their sentiment, their remembrance of such a wonderful character! It was so much better than this season's actual musical episode which was all over the place.

Forgive me for disagreeing. All I could think of once they started that song was that once you're hit with grief, you choke, you want to scream and cry, not sing. Months after the loss, at the acceptance stage of mourning, sure, but I'd rather it wasn't a full blown number. To be fair, I have very mixed feelings about this finale.

Sorry if it read differently, I probably sound very clipped and short, but I do feel shaken and bewildered at how much it hit me, someone who's never been a big fan of Q (as in, I love him, but know he's not my favorite of the show, I know that I will keep watching and that I am craving those angsty-sweet grieving scenes of s5)... I feel raw, I was feeling raw and heartbroken watching the scene and them erupting into song broke me out of the moment. It broke immersion, for me, when before I was on the verge of tears (a big feat!). Just my 5 cents, your feelings are perfectly valid.

one of my favourite part in this finale is when everyone comes together to do the Incorporate Bond... it's so touching and the campfire part is so so so saaadd😭😭😭 this episode is filled with so much emotion and it's beautiful. CANT WAIT FOR SEASON 5!!

Same here. Season 1 got me back into reading books again. Read 100s since. I honestly thought they were going to kill Dean Fogg (though I really like him too) but not Q? I was so wrecked.

If Q is really dead, I have watched my last episode of the Magicians. He was the heart and soul of the show just like Starbuck or Jon Snow. If you bring him back, I will come back. If not, it was a fun 4 seasons until he died and they ruined the show. Why would anyone watch this show anymore without Q?

I loved the finale, but upon further reflection I'm not sure how I feel about the season as a whole. Why take away so much of Julia's agency? Why make Margo's story all about Josh? Why tease Queliot if they knew it was never gonna happen?

I feel like Margo’s story was more about her maturing and realizing that she can still be herself even if she’s with someone. She’s never let anyone come in between her and Eliot and I feel like in this season she was realizing that there’s room for more and that she can be herself and still be best friends with Eliot and be with someone.

I’m with you, they could of tied it up neatly with a few small tweaks , I’m very worried the show is going downhill, seasons 1-3 were mostly perfect besides poppy. Season 4 is when I started getting worried, then this happened... hopefully I’m wrong.

My goodness, this last episode was so sad I almost cried. I honestly thought that it might have been Eliot or Julia who was going to die. I hate that the ended with this because now I'm ready for season 5.

I literally just finished watching and I have never cried like I am now at a TV show. If you knew me you would think, surely you cry all the time at TV shows and character deaths this can't be the worst. I just don't know how to process this. I am devastated.

SOOOO good!!!! Ah. One of my all time fav shows. The writers are so clever and creative. Award-winning acting, especially Jason and Olivia in the last episode... I love how there are so many others commenting about their love for this show, too. It feels good to share that.

Watching Qs death and funeral just gave me constant chills, the feeling of heartbreak and sadness engulfed me. And Alice.... the intensity of her pain was so real.

For me this has been a rollercoaster of emotions... happiness to sadness... I truly loved the series and the depth the actors writers and whole crew managed to achieve... In the fire camp scene I was holding tears but when Eliot threw the peach in I just . . couldn't... Equally as powerful episode... Can't wait for next season!

I knew it wasn't normal that Q & Alice were going back together, one of them had to die, and Alice already did, so, yeah, it left only one option .... But why though, killing the main character, I still can't accept that, I'm on grief :'(

Same, I cant get passed the fact that they played up his suicidal thoughts for 4 seasons, just to have him off himself but act like that’s ok because he was a hero? I feel like this was cruel to fans. I see no point. Other then to make people sad

(In Margo's voice) "I'm Done!" Getting rid of the Character that is the quintessential cornerstone of the whole cast and show is just bad. Quentin was everyone. He helped those of us who are just everyday somebody's feel like we could be magical in our own mundane way. He balanced out the extremes of all your characters. Now we just have a lot of loud flavors with no cohesion.

I think they can write it well without him. Q was everything in the books but he's not nearly as much of the focus in the shows. I think the rest of the cast will do fine without him. I'm sure season 5 will be interesting, and I hope you give it another shot next year.

Loved this inside the episode. This was one of the most beautiful, heartbreaking and emotional episodes yet, which I didn't think it could get more emotional, it did. The reference to Our Town was insanely emotional and the Cruel World song was perfectly picked. I am so sad and still distraught over the loss of Q. Best show on TV

I am not mad they killed Q off, if anything it makes the whole thing much more realistic. Of course it's sad, of course I wanted to see Q and Eliot together, or see if he could fix his relationship with Alice, but that's how life works. Sometimes you don't get another day. They are magicians who go on dangerous quests, fight gods, monsters etc etc, at some point someone would die. And I really hope, he doesn't come back next season, so that they can deal with their grief as a topic.

You guys really got me with this one. Not just the death itself, but the interview with 40 afterwards. Q finally got the whole package. Friends he loves, magic itself, love with Alice, a purpose in life...And yet, the first thing he fears is that his demons finally caught up with him. Such a powerful expression of depression and how it can affect anyone, even those who have no rational reason to feel negative about life. I always found Magicians to be a fun, campy series which I halfheartedly watched, but it matured so much this season and peaked this finale. Best and most emotional finale, ever. You guys took it next level and hit me where it hurts.

Ok WHAT. Not sure how I felt about this season. It was good but just like SO MUCH going on. Why did they kill off Q, and why did they even hint at him being with Elliot if they knew he was going to die. I liked Q and Alice together but not after they forced them back together in the last three episodes , non of it made sense!! I feel like everything was just kinda... anticlimactic. IT WAS GOOD but LIKE. It didn't leave me satisfied like the other seasons.

@@fortlan3628 You clearly haven't read the books. Q never dies in them. There's a lot that was added and changed for the show honestly. Some for the better and some for the worse. The Library isn't nearly as prevalent in the books either.

So Julia is now mortal and only human thanks to the decision Penny 23 made for her but at the end of the the episode following the wake for Quentin we see Julia finally use magic again due to the pain of losing Quentin so I'm curious to what extent her abilities and strength is because Quentin has been her rock through everything and she just lost that so it may have an effect on what she taps into as well.
