Just got my TR-8S a few days ago to have while I finish out the last of my chemotherapy, and after a bunch of tutorial videos on how to use it, watching yours a few times helped learn how to really PLAY it. Such a dynamic machine! Having so much more fun with it than I already was! Thank you!

The BassStation II was my very first synth, and I just picked up the TR-8S a few weeks ago. Was happy to stumble upon your set, recording just the way I do! No mastering, all live. Nice set.

Just got my TR8s today and learned so much by watching you perform. I now get how to use the delay and how you bring tracks in for a moment that catch the tail of the delay. Thats dope. I know the control knoweb is assignable. May I ask what function you assigned your control knob to on ride cymbal track? It seems like it's says depth of LPF when you turn that cntr knob. It creates such a powerful and hypnotic vibe. I love it dude. Thanks again for opening my eyes early on.
@sylys11162 жыл бұрын
Hi Bob! Glad to see that my video helped you. It probably the LPF on that knob (dont forget to push up the resonance a bit to give more presence to the sound). Enjoy the new baby 🙂
@director2bob2 жыл бұрын
@@sylys1116 right on. Thanks. And I know this sounds like a dumb question, but could a Moog Sub 37 be used the same way the Bass Station was used to sidechain the signal into the TR8s? I am not familiar with this technique or how it works. Thanks again.
@sylys11162 жыл бұрын
@@director2bob sure ! Any synth will do the job.
@jonatones29623 жыл бұрын
Hey man, awesome jam! How are you sequencing the bass station? Did you sync it with the TR and use the ext in? Or is there another way to use the TR in combo with a synth

The problem I am having for now, is that the Velocity-sensitive pad would have been more useful to get the kind of fast/multi-notes convoluted rhythmical beats I want to get out of an instrument, but when I use this, the playback doesn't get replicated as such, instead it plays back in single-notes non-fast-rhythmical pace, that is unintended. It appears that this problem I am experiencing is related to perhaps tempo setting issue?, or perhaps only achievable using sub steps and flams?. Any hints/tips appreciated.
@sylys11165 жыл бұрын
When you use the velocity-sensitive pad, the steps will be quantized. Maybe in the user manual you can find a way to quantize using more (sub-)steps

What is the parameter that lets you do that echo thing... I know it's probably called reverb, but my reverb doesn't seem to work that way... Great demo by the way. :)
@sylys11165 жыл бұрын
Thanks ! Yeah that is the built-in reverb on the master FX. You can change the settings (type, time, etc) vit Shift + Kit.

GREAT! I don't really understand how this works? Does the Basstation sound come live in the TR-8S? SO no sample import ? Could you please tell us how the setup works? Thanks!!!!!!!
@sylys11165 жыл бұрын
The BassStation sends the audio output into the "EXT IN" of the TR-8S. I also connect them via MIDI cable to sync the clocks. In this case I only use one continus note that is sidechained by the TR-8S to create the pumping effect. Hope this helps !

Very good, good talking drum machine... a fundamental piece of the four that are in the configuration of Disc Show Man... you need some electronic percussion, a good synthesizer keyboard and a good multi pad... Good luck and let's all go with joy ....
