If I hadn't seen all the good Greek life can do, I would agree with you. Greek life is very tricky. When it's bad, it's very bad, and people can get hurt. But when it's good, it can be amazing. My sorority raised 50,000 dollars at one event to help foster kids find permanent homes. That's productive. And while recruitment is a lot of work, the end result makes it worth it.

Sorority is like fraternity, sorority is female, and fraternity is male. They all have distinct names, but they are all using Greek alphabets, some sorority/fraternity are made in the late 19 century, some are new. You will only see them most at American universities, the American military have them too. This what it is called "Greek Life", and I'm surprised that they only existed in the US, Philippines, France and Canada, and not Greek itself or the rest of the world, so it is really not "Greek Life".

Sandra Keddy basically sororities are social organizations which each have certain values, we network with sisters and other people in Greek life and we just want to make our world a better place. We have national and local philanthropies and we help the community in the process, also depending on whether or not a sorority is an active part in your school, they can also have members who help your school with student run things.. at least in my school we go through values based recruitment where we look at the values of the girls going through recruitment and see if theyre a good match with out values. Yes i do personally believe there is slight bias when picking the girls but I also believe that things happen for a reason and they wouldn't drop you if they didn't see you fit in another sorority. As for the chants, not every school does it how these girls do it, but for me personally i love the chants especially when im walking in the room instead of dead silence, the chants might be scary and weird for other girls but that shouldn't be the reason why they don't go through recruitment, we aren't cults. Also this video is from the New York post, its biased and unreliable.. you can tell with their horrible editing skills :) trust me, dont believe what the media and what movies tell you.. I don't party and many girls dont either, its the ones that are irresponsible that get everyone in trouble, and we aren't as dumb as people say we are, people who are a part of greek life tend to have higher gpa than ones who aren't.. it's all about looking at the positive side and focusing on the negatives, if you have any more questions I'm here to answer :) also i apologize for my essay

Jay social sororities aren't bad.. these are just chants.. one of my sorority's standards is academic interest.. we do our best to become better leaders and to help the community.. it's when someone blows this out of proportion or when one kids dies because he made a mistake when everyone sees us like trash

I never said that social sororities were bad! I'm just not a huge fan of the chants. They were slightly terrifying, and unfortunately can give a bad first impression for someone who was looking to rush in the fall.
