Love the JD-XI, it has been in my peripherals for years, but I have been so consumed by the MPC Live this past year, I pretty much dropped everything else. Cut to last night, I saw the mighty JD-XI on Ebay, in mint condition, with original box/foam, manual , mic, the whole thang for just under $400. I didn't think twice, it gets here friday, and I doubt I will sleep until then. WAY TOO EXCITED. First track I make on it, what I am gonna call? "No Sleep Till Roland," gotta pay homage to Beastie Boys, "No Sleep Till Brooklyn." Cannot wait, thank you for all the wonderful video content I can salivate to. Peace!

would you recommend this synth for studio production in mostly hiphop?i already have the rs-70,gaia,system 1,mm-6,mininova and mini brute

I paid like $450 for this at a Pawn Shop almost a year ago. It has the absolute BEST drums out of all the synths that i have. You could totally make a hit record with this board. I have a Roland Tr505, a Zoom 249 Street beat and an Akai XR20. But this lil joint here shines brighter and hit extra hard.

I have tried to follow. The complete start with the clicking does not work. When I press the play button in addition to the record button it does play all the time the pre-loaded standard music. And this is where it stops everything.

i have seen one dude using a 4 measure, only he ajust the number of notes per measure and turn down the tempo to make 8 measures, something like that. i dont speak inglish

if i create a beat with some layers, how can i mute one of them during the play mode? or if added the layer, i must play it all the time?

i wrote Roland Support about this 2 JDXI units i purchased from Roland, both with same defects. the 1st unit was purchased in 2016 and it became defective within 1 year. i drove it to Roland/Boss repair ctr 50 miles paid $100 for repairs each time, never fixed. the unit's circuitry is defective for both Tempo & Master Volume knobs, causing the unit to slow down /speed up tempo while playing, despite the tempo settings preset in the Program parameters. Volume control slowly fades too. I bought the 2nd unit in November 2019, now it has developed the exact same problem. JDXI needs to admit its defective engineering on this device.

Can you really only up to 4 measures? Can you do 8 or more? I need to know cuz I'm thinking of gettin' one o these babies! Roland could you make groove boxes again? I miss the old groovebox as according to the Roland websites the MC-909 & MC-808 are listed as "Discontinued"

When I try to do a pad it just records it like one note instead of the sustained sound a pad is supposed to be. I'm pressing the keys the way I want it to sound but it doesn't record (or save) that way. Anyone help?

the gaia is pretty forgettable. you can tell they work for Roland if they are praising that thing. Not an awful synth, but compared to other VA synths like the VIRUS TI, its lacking
