You can really hear the Armenian roots of their music when played on ancient instruments like this. It sounds just as natural in this style as it does when played in it's original way. I could listen to this all day.

Grossly underrated comment. I too was like, "oh shit, this is just an Armenian folk dance!" The parts that are "metal" breakdowns in the original are so analogous to the rhythms of eastern folk when played in bardcore.

Yes, sadly many other medieval-style covers play the exact same notes as the original, just on different instruments. Or sometimes not even instruments, just midi.

@@sarimahmedguitars just to be clear, I said Armenian, from Armenia. A country in the Caucasus mountains between Russia and the middle east, Serj Tankian and several other band members are from Armenia themselves giving them the Armenian folk influence.

Imagine, a medieval courtyard, a few bards slowly tune their instruments and start to play. Drawing a crowd of common folk, peasants, and royalty all coming to partake in this first time heard magic. Thank you for this, it's truly amazing.

This is actually the sound they were going for only electrified and distorted. They were influenced heavily by Armenian folk music which to this day still makes use of many instruments which have been around since medieval times.
