It was never intended for traveling - I am quite sure this is more about infrastructure than anything else. If you are an actual home user, imagine having your service crushed by an influx of RVer's overtaking the cell tower.

Absolutely correct. They are basically shooting themselves in the foot. Best thing to do is get Starlink. There was talk about Starlink partnering with T-Mobile for Starlink's cellular service, but I haven't heard anymore about that.

It makes sense from the technical side. Home internet has huge bandwidth, and the provider bases ability on location, they will only sell so much per location to avoid saturation.

Absolutely! Just in the past year we have seen a HUGE uptick in T mobile usage, so much to the point it was unusable in quite a bit of parks where we had always relied on it.

Going to be a tough pill to swallow for quite a few full time RVer's that used this exclusively for remote work. The sad part is how many will not be notified due to using random addresses as many KZfaqrs reccomended.

I’ve use T-Mobile Home Internet for the whole winter (Canadian Snowbirds) and it was great at 55$/month. I had Starlink as a backup as this is what I use during the summer in Canada. Following this announcement from T-Mobile, I will be using only Starlink and it’s working in Canada/USA/Mexico for the same price.

@liferedesigned Hi Karri. Another great video! Do trees/obstructions affect Connecten like they do StarLink? Do you and Bob, who absolutely have to have reliable service in order to work, have both or can you get by with just Connecten?

Connecten works just like cell phones so trees or obstructions are not an issue. It have been perfect for us and the only thing we use now. Starlink has been paused for months 😀

We use a T-mobile hotspot and Nomad Internet. Haven’t had an issue for the past 2 years full timing.

@@liferedesigned Um yea, pretty sure i know how the internet works.... i did manage to get a router from them so i guess i must have figured it out. All I want to do it return it since it never worked, nobody responds to the live chat and the "return" phone number listed on the website is disconnected. They dont respond to email either it seems.

We plug ours in 110 household current. 12v may be an option but i would ask them directly

@@liferedesigned the new T-Mobile home router runs on 5v usbc so it’s super easy to keep it running on a battery pack while out and not have to power the whole rig to keep security systems online

I have a weBoost amp and repeater that should improve connectivity with the connecten router as well. I’ve yet to put it through its paces though

@@liferedesigned I need to check, i may be able to pull up the messenger conversatioms i had with T-Mobil specifically about using the system in a traveling RV. Doesnt mean they cant change the rules at will, but they did sell it that way in the beginning.

Oh they sure did sell it that way - was a HUGE disconnect between sales people and the company. The TOS say one thing and the sales people said don’t worry about it- well, now - lol it’s.. worry about it

Not sure they will just "move" someone to the higher cost plan. Pretty sure a person would need to agree to the new plan OR possibly loose their internet if not in the address area. If people stay within the "address area" I think the plan will still be available. BUT no one really knows yet except T-Mobile.

They won't just move anyone to another plan. A call into T-Mobile gave the information that the new plan called AWAY will begin shortly. Notices will be sent out to the address on file if you are away from your home address. Service will be disconnected for TOS violations after notices are sent. the bigger issue will be for people that used a bogus address or a "friends" address in order to get the service. This is nothing new about the TOS - people got away with it for quite a while but the written agreement was pretty clear of it's intended use.

@@liferedesigned Yup, I think a lot of us were fully aware that this day could come and were willing to roll the dice. We personally are lucky that we are not reliant on internet and if we didn't have it for a few days it wouldn't really matter. AND we have our Verizon phone available with the Hot Spot feature to get us by. When the day comes we will just bounce to another provider, maybe back to a Verizon Hot Spot like we had for many many years traveling the country.

Always entertaining to watch the linguistic and ethical gymnastics ensue when the wheels come off the gravy train LOL. Brings back warm memories from the pioneer days when 3G unlimited data suddenly wasn't. I looked into these home internet options when it became a thing and actually read the T's & C's then promptly passed. I'm not a heavy user anymore, so a VZW data sim in the very slow Winegard 4G gets-r-done. I can bridge my phone if I need 5G for something work related, but that's nearly never in my case. If it's too good to be true, it's probably gonna get shut down.

It' all the thousands of people violating the rules that ruined it. I am so happy they are going to crack down on it finally. My buddy lives next to a large state park and from april to october his home tmobile really slows down from all the other "home" users staying at the state park.

I have T-Mobile and only took this system with the complete knowledge of T- Mobile, that it's use was for our RV life on the road. In my opinion there may well be grounds for a lawsuit against T-Mobile for misrepresentation by their company. We need to look further into this as I am sure I am not the only RV-er or Traveler that also was upfront from the beginning with T-Mobile as to our intended use of their services, at a set price.

Could definitely have a case. Sales force said one thing and corporate said another. We were told last year that it was not meant for travel by a Regional Manager when we inquired.
