Doraemon actually has some dark moments in the manga: 1. A button that can make anyone disappear, and no one will remember them. Basically, a true death 2. A passport that allows you to commit any crimes 3. A phone booth that can grant any what-ifs. Imagine someone saying, "what if earth was destroyed by meteors?" 4. A psychic baby that wants to murder shizuka by electrocution 5. A robot snake that can completely turn anyone into a stone, like medusa 6. A camera that can produce a voodoo doll. Everything you did to the doll will be felt by the real person And that's only from the regular manga. Iirc, the adventure mangas have some even darker moments

pheonix/firebird is his masterpiece but his other mangas like apollo's song, ode to kirihito, MW and ayako already to give me traumatized after read despite it have cutesy artstyle like astro boy (fujiko sensei also wrote minotaur's dish/plate seemingly dark too)

We Arabs have always been among the fans who most love the works of Fujiko F. Fujio, especially Doraemon, starting from the eighties generation to the current generation that still loves Doraemon, so seeing work of such quality with a darker and more realistic atmosphere is something that attracts me greatly, and I strongly bet that it will be something worth watching

As a big Doraemon fan, this is 9/10. I like how this anime has a lot of similar elements of Doraemon and Fujiko f. Fujio vibe but it is more mature and does not feel too forced. Each episode is like a short story that reference from important historical moment which is finished in one episode almost like an episode of Doraemon. My only problem is only the main plot that barely progress and pretty much ignored until they reveal something important at the very end without much foreshadowing.

I've been suspecting this ever since I read other Fujiko's manga. aside from Fujiko's children manga like Doraemon, every manga was so dark I suspect that he only create children manga for money and his real passion is elsewhere 😂 Hell, even early Doraemon have some pretty dark topic

TP Bon is one of the masterpieces of Fujiko Fujio, who created dozens of series during his lifetime. The organization settings are shared with the Time Patrol in Doraemon's work, so Time Patrol appears in Doraemon's work, but Doraemon does not appear in TP Bon's work. The work itself is a different work targeted at a different readership. For those of us who know this, what's bothering us now is that It's like "Akira Toriyama's Doctor Slump trailer is filled with incomprehensible comments, "Isn't this Dragon Ball?"🙃

Personally, I thought the Stand by me Doraemon films on Netflix was an emotional rollercoaster, plus a tearjerker too, but when Netflix chose this one to adaptation from Fujiko F Fujio's works, my mind just blown up on the route they pick, and I 100% agree.

I remember picking up another Fujiko F. Fujio manga when I was a kid thinking it would be as light hearted as Doraemon. One of the short stories was about alien invaders cannibalising an island of humans, leaving only two survivors behind. I remember so vividly the scene of the silhouettes of the protagonist's family and friends being speared through and barbecued by a giant bonfire. Traumatized me for life, man.

That's pretty light compared to the rest There's one about a group of human trying to survive in a post nuclear war earth. To conserve food and live as long as possible. They have to go into hibernation for 10,000 yeats each time, hoping the SOS signal they're sending would call someone Since there's no food, one of them has to sacrifice their body as food each time, they aren't afraid of death and do it willingly because they just want their species to survive as long as possible And when the last person remains. They just jeep hoping that they will wake up finding help after the final hibernation and it ends with a very traumatizing panel

it's 'themselves'. Fujiko Fujio is a collab duo (Fujiko F. Fujio and Fujiko Fujio A). Doraemon and Kiteretsu belonged to the former, and Hattori the latter. Perman was their collab work.

@@TheRealPaul_Morphy I'm pretty sure there are overgrown babies of all age groups, doesn't mean those aren't adults and can't comprehend adult topics But that is besides the point You started with "All animes are childish" then followed by the bullshit argument "they are geared towards children then they are childish" which is just stupid on all levels are of thought First of anime is so large and have many genres including josei and seinen which are specifically geared towards adults (all animes aren't childish or geared towards kids) And then we get to the next idiotic thing; because the show was made for kids doesn't mean it doesn't have themes and messages that resonate well with older generation, on the contrary there are so many kid shows who's messages resonant better the older you get i.e. bluey. Those shows aren't childish.

Wow. Cartoons like Doraemon, Kitretsu, Ninja Hattori, Perman, Kaibutsu kun were huge part of my childhood. I liked the sense of nostalgia from this trailer but the thing that sold me is the mature theme. It has been 7 or 8 years or so the last time I watched Doraemon, much like me many who as kids watched Fujiko sensei's animes grew up so it's really good to see an adult take on Doraemon style. Love it.

What almost kills me in this comment section is the fact that many of the people who keep calling Doraemon don't seem to know the original author, Fujiko Fujio. If they knew, they would instantly recognize that this is a Fujiko Fujio character who created dozens of original series during his lifetime. They will also recognize that this is not Doraemon and an anime adaptation of his other series. How disrespectful is this? Because it's the same as people who don't know Akira Toriyama shouting "Where's Goku?" and "They stole the Dragon Ball series!" at the anime series comment section from another manga series by Akira Toriyama. At first I laughed because I thought there were people like that exist, but then I couldn't laugh anymore soon😩
