Foxtail in Tamil known as Thinai, is a healthy millet, which is a favourite of Lord Murugan. Thinai mixed with honey will be a Prasatham for Thai Poosam pooja.
Ingredients
Thinai - 1 small cup ( 100 gm)
Honey - 3 tbs
Ghee - 1 tsp
Cashew, dry grapes, cardamon powder, dry ginger powder.
Steps
Wash and soak Thinai for 1 hour. Filter the water, put in a towel for 15 minutes.
Dry roast it for 2 minutes, until you get nice aroma and it started pops.
Transfer to dry mixie jar, after 10 minutes grind it to a smooth powder. Add 1/4 tsp of cardamom powder, 1/4 tsp of dry ginger powder.
Fry Cashew, dry grapes in ghee., switch off, add grinded thinnai and give a good mix. Keep it aside for 10 minutes.
Add honey and mix. It will be like a puttu consistency. If you want you can add more honey and make laddus.
Instead of hole Thinai, if you get Thinai flour,.. Dry roast it for 3,4 minutes, and then you can do the same process..
