T7 World Raid - Off Road - Barmouth loop. Pont Scethin, Happy Valley, Bastard Lane, Kings Road.

Hi Folks.
welcome to another little adventure.
today I'm joined by Adam @ads__rides on his nearly new and shiny #aprilliatuareg660 which is no longer looking so new and shiny 🤣
This week, we visit Barmouth and check out Pont Scethin. a famous drovers trail up and down one of the mountains in Barmouth. Very tough trail!
After that we head over the railway footbridge to Dolgellau, and onto Kings Road, another famous trail in North Wales, famous for how notoriously difficult it can be with its huge boulders and holes.
After there we are onto Bomber Lane, just west of Dolgellau a cracking lane with fantastic views of barmouth Bay.
Then onto a treterous Happy Valley, a good old tough rocky trail.
finishing off on a destroyed Bastard Lane, which is tricky in any direction.

I just recently completed the Welsh TET from south to north and back again on a KTM 250, took 5 days and 570 miles. Nice seeing the lanes we just completed. I rode over Barmouth bridge last year on a trip, the looks of disgust as 10 enduros went across was priceless

Aw nice! Sounds like an epic trip. Wales is stunning, certainly some of the best trails in the country I would say for sure! Some of the most challenging aswell. 570 miles and 16,000 gates 🤣

You inspired me, done some lanes around Barmouth including Pont Scethin today. I wouldn't have tried it if I hadnt seem your video with the WR getting through the gate!!

Ah well in nick 💪 you on a WR too? What a day for it too you lucky sod 😆 views up there are un matched! What an achievement, not many actual mountains you can ride over on your bike. Bloody hard going though, much harder in person that what it looks on film. Fair play mate.

@lewsdirtbikedays Yes mate, on the black version..Did it the opposite way to your video, needed plenty of help and mauling across the rock slabs/steps but otherwise OK, apart from being fooked by the time I got to top!! Keep up the good work 👍🏻👍🏻

Awesome, yeah, it certainly needs one! Enduro bikes on the bridge are a little less imposing than these big daft things, might aswell be driving a small van down there 😆

Hey that’s my back yard trail mate. I struggle enough on my 450😂 Just as you turned off the main road to Barmouth you went past my gaff. That first rocky climb where you came off is a lot steeper than it looks. Next time you’re heading this was pop in for a cuppa

Ah man, small world isn't it?! Blows my tiny mind when stuff like this happens you know... Where a random person rides past a random house and then they find each other on the Internet. Crazy! Yeah from what I remember, that hill was crazy steep and I wasn't expecting it at all! Be a bit more keen for blasting up that bank properly next time out. Bloody hard work that pont scethin, no rest anywhere! We're actually planning on doing this again in a few weeks, if I can remember, I'll give you a shout, come with us if you like? ✌️

😂 I certainly have a way with words hahaha. Adam knew what he was getting into when he said he wanted to come ride with me, and to be fair to him, he smashed it. Will be seeing more of Adam and his Tuareg on here in the future for sure.

Great video, Mate. It's great to have followed you along as you tamed this bike. The biggest thing you've shown me, though, is that a T7 WR, or even a standard T7, is going to be way too much for me. I've had quite a few bike, and military accidents, in my 54 years, and have to smarten up. I'm going to go for a KTM 500 EXC-F six days. Yeah....I don't need the six days but, as my Wife said, it could be my last bike. I may as well pamper myself with something special. As always, loved the video. Keep 'em coming. Regardless of what I ride, i'll keep following your adventures. Love em!

Thanks very much for your kind words, mate. Makes making these videos worth while, and is the main reason I make them, to show what these big bikes are like in the real world in offroad situations and what they are capable of when you're not Pol Tarres 😂 yeah the EXC500 is a fantastic trail bike, the six days do look amazing too! I would agree though, these big bikes go down hard and fast and can be a real struggle to pick up, as you've heard on this vid 😂 but that's a small price to pay for the joy it brings the rest of the time.

Cheers Mark. Yeah, it's a good run that, harsh in places, though. Yeah happy valley and bastard Lane seem to be breaking down at a rapid rate now which is a shame, they will become impassable soon if not closed and repaired. I don't like bashing the 4x4's as they're only doing what we are and enjoying the freedoms we have but when you can see and measure the damage being done it's hard not to say anything about it, at this rate we will lose these lanes for good for all us.

😆 North Wales doesn't abide by normal weather law's, mate, Wales substitutes its own. Believe it or not, the weather report was sunny spells for that day we were out....

@@phillwoods3202 no worries mate. I'm guessing you're going on your own? Wouldn't recommend pont scethin on a solo ride if I'm being honest mate 😬 if the preverbial shot was to go South, it's extremely remote.

I didn’t know if it was 100% you so didn’t want to chase after a random t7 friend 😂 Did a route from staylittle to Barmouth, did some good lanes above Barmouth and some near snowdonia then did some tet down to nant y moch res, most the time we didn’t know where we were 😂

@Hampshire adv riders you'd have to be a bit nutty to be offroading a 20k bike with spares that cost just as much 🤣 you deffo should have chased me down mate, would have been nice to have a chat.. you'll have to let me know when you're back this way, and I'll take you lads out and make the best of it for you 👌

PLEASE PAY THE BARMOUTH BRIDGE TOLL when using this route to keep this route open for future trail riders!! In late 2017, an "honesty toll" of £1 for adults and 50p for children was introduced with a troll mascot, and the old toll house rebranded as a "troll house". The council is undecided as to how to pay for maintenance costs, which were £39,405 for the year.[23] This is problematic as revenue from tolls is insufficient to cover the council's share of costs.

I genuinely had no clue it had an honesty box there and nobodyhas ever mentioned there being one when talkingabout this route or area. This is the first time I'd ever gone over the bridge too myself. I'll bare this in mind and will certainly pass the message on, as it's certainly for a great cause. Thanks for letting me know 👍
