As for ideas, Day9 used to have regular community games he called 'team monobattles', a 4v4 in which each player is only allowed to make a single kind of unit, which they have to declare at the start. I've always wondered if that would work in AoE as well.

It wasn't a normal church service, but at a youth church event, there was a kid with a cape on. And as my group passed him by he yelled something. None of us are completely sure what he said, but what me and my friend heard was "You can't talk to me like that. I'm a banana." And then he ran off. So I'd say a cape does something.

Throwing axeman only would be dumb and amusing.

Going to church in Alberta with a cape gives a 5+ to faith with no tech upgrade needed.

A Teutonic knight raiding a farm be like: "May I talk to you about our Lord and Savior... Hey, where are you going?? Slow down, would you??"

The last time I played Teutons I spent 30 minutes defending a fully upgraded castle on a hill. Spent about 4k gold to buy stone to repair that castle. I could not get a game winning unit like SO or paladin due to the constant hussar raids but the opponent wasted a ton of gold on siege trying to push that hill.

the Persian war elephant was my favorite tool of destruction growing up. 200 of them were unstoppable 😅

The best best part is when t90 is surprised the game is balanced when everyone is the same faction

honestly amazing game, was not expecting a 2v2 teuton mirror to be this exciting. I think the cool part was the ETK's couldn't actually raid trade, so despite both teams getting groups of them back in the trade, nothing really happened 😆🤣🤣

byzantians where by far the coolest unite for me as a kid. before aoe2.5 when the villagers where put to work automaticly after building a camp they where by far my favorite unite

Blast furnace is actually insane in this situation, because when hitting a ETK it brings you from 6 to 8 damage, a 33% increase, and it also lets them 2-hit villagers, improving their raiding efficiency

It is really easy to give suggestions here 4 vs 4 everyone with tatars, only Flaming camels allowed

Soo i think this matchup might have a teuton player

Some suggestions: - Only throwing axeman, gbetos and chakram throwers (would be fun to see all ranged melee fighting). - Only pikes and skirms (basically impossible to raid economy and late game the monks and siege get super powerful). - Only elephants (all kinds of: siege, archer, battle). - Water map with only galleys (can't upgrade to War Galley and no fire ships; so a lot of micro through the whole game). - Burgundians, with only monk, siege and flemish militia are allowed (decisions: do you call the revolution earlier and destroy the enemy (with the risk of destroying your own economy) or wait till late game?).

First I thought rules were too restrictive, but this ended up being really fun game. So many castles fallen and crazy tactics with (siege) towers.

Back in the day my mates and I used to do something similar with Saracens and only make heavy camels (because we thought the sounds they made were hilarious). We’d make no vils and just use cheat codes and set the rally points to the middle of the map then send hundreds of the things into the meat grinder in an endless death match. To this day I have no idea how we found the constant camel death noises as funny as we did

I love the celts woadraiders so speedy ! I almost exclusively play them. Barely see them being used at higher levels though :(

I dunno why T90 thought Teutons got murder holes in feudal age, but it makes sense. A lot of technologies are actually things you'd need to be unbelievably clever to figure out, such as treadmill crane. But imagine a civilisation where it's like 1200 AD before anyone's like 'what if we... dropped rocks through a hole? Do you think it would hurt if they fell on someone?'

T90 awesome game mode, love the introduction of limits... i think another limit for a future game... 2v2 but you can only upgrade techs on a per team basis. If 1 tech has already been researched by 1 member of the team the other team member cannot research that tech

Scorps would've probably defended MUCH better against Yo's mass than towers, but the issue is that they get taken out by bombs and trebs, so Idk, this whole match was a huge game of rock-paper-scissors, except Yo had enough Scissors to slice through Rock.

I would love to see any civ but only unique units, monks & siege, so a similar vein to this. Maybe a 3v3 so you can have 1 unique infantry, archery & cavalry unit per team.

GG indeed! Yo is the Master strategist as always. His way of keeping an economy AND a strong army at the same time is just admirable. Plus, all the other crazy things he does (siege towers that the others quickly copied) These players are just awesome. 😎

Great game, Spoilers below I can't help but think that, like T90 said when the Caped Crusaders were being massed supremely, Scorpions or Onager could have been epic. The AoE could have been a game changer in these big, slow battles.

never got into playing AoE (or other rts) but as a big fan of civilization IV, I love Khmer and ballista elephants.

i think jibatong's brain broke this game - just continued to make monks despite vs teutons and heresy. i get that it's a long transition to actual military but why keep making monks

not including militia and knight line was weird - I get how towers, siege, monk, TK all play to teutons' bonuses but not including infantry and knights (with their melee armor bonus) was weird and would have kept it from being such a stupid monk fest
