Thank you, Tony. Another comprehensive review - much appreciated. Nice looking unit and the zoom feature is a great idea! It is a shame the software doesn't detect the NI-VISA drivers correctly, overwriting the new version with an older one can really cause problems. It looks like there is a USB port on the front panel as well as the rear panel. Regards, David

Thank you David, well spotted on the USB.. The front one is the 4th channel and can be used for charging. in the back is for storage/firmware update. yes the VISA installation was silly. maybe the VISA itself is smart enough not to install over a newer version, i i don't want to try that.... i make a weekly image of the PC.. when it is realy wrong i just restore it :)

Thanks for sharing your review. Apart from the little hick-up with the driver install, this otherwise seems to be a great PSU. Hope the ripple will be small. I actually have ordered the UNI-T 3305S-E from Eleshop today for myself :) as I like to get rid off my several small and cheap-ass PSUs of which I have 4 or 5 devices flying around my lab. I also have the big Aim TTi PL303 QMT-P a full-blown triple PSU which has only knobs to adjust voltage/amps "freestyle". It is my most precise and expensive PSU indeed, but nothing to quickly carry from one workbench to the other when I am working on my different projects ... so, the UNI-T will complement my equipment properly. I very much like the possibility to enter numbers directly on the number key pad of the UNI-T. I have also the Siglent PSU since 3 years or so, where you always need the arrow keys (fine) to change position digits left or right and the knob to adjust and change voltages/amps values for that selected digit - still feels odd. Typing just the number + enter is pretty convenient ;) The Zoom mode of the UNI-T comes in very handy for having visually bigger numbers to better see. Like that! I also love the fact when either in serial or parallel mode, the display always shows the total voltage/amps. This is so weird with my Singlent PSU (as you showed also) where you just see "half" of the voltage or amps in the display when coupling the channels. However, the Siglent did a fantasctic job so far on my work bench, but this new Unit-T device will be doing alike as good on my other workbench ;) ...
@TonyAlbus
@TonyAlbus 9 ай бұрын
Hi Markus, Your TTi wow! good stuff. Same for me about the Siglent, mine i don't use, becouse the 2 arrow buttons ans used to change from A to V and the single [fine] is used to jump digits.. What?? Yes.. stupid . meens every time you need the change voltage you are puching at least 5 time the fine button. while they had the arrows available.. and the [fine] could be used to change from V to A .. thats why i was looking at this one.
@markuskeller9734
@markuskeller9734 9 ай бұрын
@@TonyAlbus Totally agree. I am using my Siglent just with most relevant "fixed" voltages for channel 1 (5V) and channel 2 (12V) and use the 3rd channel with 3.3V. I does not change the values often on this device because of the reason you explained. But the built quality, the software, voltage precision, noise level is all decent and good enough for my applications, also has enough power for me. But the UNI-T will be more versatile and comes with a few cool features. Really looking forward playing with that "big boy" during next few days ... :)

Heloo Tony. Perhaps it would be good to show how a multi-channel laboratory power supply can be connected as a balanced supply (+12V) : 0 ground : (-12V). Connecting two channels in series does not seem to create a zero point for the positive and negative voltages. I believe that this is possible by connecting (A-) and (B+) separate channels and thus creating a zero potential for both the positive and negative voltage branches. It is good to connect the zero contact to ground (in both channels of the source). It would be good to have a short video on how to connect it and how it works. There are several videos on KZfaq about wiring two separate sources as symmetrical. I think that both separate channels of one source should work exactly the same.
@TonyAlbus
@TonyAlbus 8 ай бұрын
Thanks, nice idea for sure
@ivandrimal5783
@ivandrimal5783 8 ай бұрын
To that symmetrical voltage on multi-channel laboratory sources. Probably the most important thing is to measure with a multimeter whether the two optional channels are connected via the (-) connector. If the channels are separated (separate or floating) it is quite easy, But for some, a video on how to connect it can be inspiring, because such a resource not costs a little money and no one wants to destroy it. In addition, the question is whether the central (zero) output should be connected to the ground (usually a green connector) or whether only a "floating" ground without grounding is sufficient. If someone invests in a good lab resource, they should be able to take advantage of its capabilities. A lot of my friends have a three-channel power supply and she made a small symmetrical one with LM317T and LM337T anyway because she didn't know that it can be set even on a large power supply.

Interesting unit for sure. But when you put it in seriel mode, as in 30 + 30 volts, do you then have access to the midpoint, so you can get -30 - ground - +30 volts out of it? To drive something that needs both negative and positive voltage.

Thanks for quick review! Could You please test OCP function for different current setting? It's not switching off output for me when I set 1A/1A output/OCP and add simple resistive load that is connected all the time. Even when I short outputs. Monitor function works, but it takes few hundred milliseconds to switch output off.
@TonyAlbus
@TonyAlbus 9 ай бұрын
Hi, Thanks, Good question, as far as i know you can not test OCP with a passive load, the CC will kick in first. you need an active load, so when the CC tries to lower the voltage, it will do that until it reaches 0 volts. then the current usualy is 0.. if you then insert current with an external source, then the OCP kicks in and the only thing what is left to do for the PSU is switch-off the output. i have a video about that testing it witrh the Siglent.. it is in teh end of the video.
@TonyAlbus

Hi, i am getting back to you, as i was also not able to test OCP correctly, i send a message to UNI-T Also on my request they have put the latest firmware 1.10 on the official website. They realy want to give a good service, i like that!

@@TonyAlbus thank You for checking it out. I'm pretty sure that I have answered already, maybe YT cut my answer out. My unit is running firmware version 1.10. I think that OCP feature should work like this: if OCP and Current values are equal then PSU should switch output off after a short period when running in CC mode. In expensive PSUs this period is adjustable to prevent false OCP trips. And it shouldn't matter if load is passive or active.
@TonyAlbus
@TonyAlbus 9 ай бұрын
@@jarekdomanski7985 It seems that there are different theories how it should work..and its implemented like wise. they may change that now because of this discussion They are working on this, i have 1.11 for test now. : Strategy for changing the output setting value and protection value i'll keep you posted.

@@TonyAlbus I'm impressed with this PSU. It's a great product overall. However, I've encountered a repeatable bug that could potentially damage connected devices. When setting the CH1 voltage to 30V and creating a square wave pattern with 2V for 0.3s and 5V for 0.3s, a brief voltage spike occurs at the start of the program. I'll share an oscilloscope screenshot via email for further clarification.
