It doesn't take much to ensure that your table saw is near perfectly square. In this video I'll show you the tools I use to square my table saw and how I use them.
here is the link to purchase the Mitre Slot Caliper Holder from Lee Valley Tools: www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/...

I watch most of the usual carpentry/woodworker channels and can’t believe this has never appeared in my feed before- good viewing, to the point, no padding, , , , subbed - And looking forward to catching up with previous postings 👍 thanks.

Great Video 🙂. I was a maintenance tech for years at a large cabinet shop. The rule of thumb for aligning the fence to blade is that its OK to not be perfect as long as the gap at the outfeed side is larger. If the gap is smaller, the wood may bind between the blade and fence. In your case its only a difference of .0035 which isn't much but it would never hurt to adjust it so that the gap is larger instead of smaller. I like the Mag-Dro, it a lot simpler that clamping a dial indicator to a steel bar in the miter slot. I'll have to put it on my next Lee Valley order.

Thank you! You're 100% correct. I did make one final adjustment to correct that a bit further, but as you mentioned, it wasn't enough to cause any binding that I found. That mag-dro was a really neat tool that I found from my last Lee Valley order 😁.

Thank you. It was very educational. I learned from it. You touched on push sticks, a dedicated video on those would be great too.

Excellent video. One caution regarding digital levels is to always use the same surface as the contact surface. The best practice is as you showed, using the bottom against all surfaces. On mine the sides are not precisely 90° to the bottom so measuring the table with the bottom and the blade with the side will give misleading results.

Can you put a link to that tool that sits in the track and holds the caliper?

Or, you could just zero out your caliper when you bumped to the front of your fence/saw and then just hit the back and you'll see the difference.

Just use a measuring tape measure from each end of the blade way faster way easier there you go young buck
@TimberDesigns
@TimberDesigns 4 ай бұрын
I used to do that all the time, and honestly after I set my fence distance I still measure from blade tooth to the fence on front and back, I just wanted to dial in a bit more precision :-) most importantly is to square the blade and fence to the mitre slot though
