Miniaturist Journal 38. In this video I am taking you through the basic rules for table saw safety and show you how to change the saw blade. Something unexpected makes me change my plans. And I'm showing you the rough state my second canal house is still in and explain a little bit about how I'm building it.
Miniaturist Journal is a record of my activities, experiences, thoughts and observations in vlog form, all relating to miniatures.

Hi Josje, you gave some very sound advice for safety while using machinery. A friend recently experienced an incident where her dog startled her and a bottle of Crazy Glue was knocked on to her lap resulting in a serious chemical burn to her leg. These thing happen so quickly. I am always surprised when Miniaturists finish a project on a deadline as I enjoy the thought that my Swedish House for example will take another -who knows how long - to be finished. The French House was 1991 to 2015 with a lot of real life happening in between of course. The room box style of build is a wonderful idea for beginners who are uncertain what direction their new hobby (obsession) may take them. Always enjoy your videos, thank you. Regards Janine in BC Canada where our summer is presently extending into Fall

Hi Janine, yes these things always happen in a split second. It's lovely to have pets around but they can be unpredictable. I sometimes have deadlines when working on room boxes, but not the ones I make for myself. As for my room box house build, I can hardly call myself a beginner but I still like this way of working. Thank you, Janine! Summer is over here. The past two days were nice, but it has started raining again. Tomorrow will be a very wet day I think.

Actually turning the blade with the teeth to the back, makes it possibly to cut Perspex and other plastics. Having the teeth the right way round will shatter some plastics. Love the table saw though, I have a Proxxon FET table saw and replacing the blade is definitely more fiddly! Love you videos! Idske
@MakeMiniatures

I didn't know that Idske, thank you for the tip! Yes, replacing the blade on the Proxxon is more fiddly. I do like having both machines. I use the Proxxon with a heavier saw blade for thicker material. Thanks Idske!

@MakeMiniatures
@MakeMiniatures Жыл бұрын
@Sandy--hq5ws
@Sandy--hq5ws Жыл бұрын
@MakeMiniatures
@MakeMiniatures Жыл бұрын

I hope your hand recovers quickly! Thank you for the tutorial on the table saw. I’m thinking of asking for one for Christmas, so this was useful knowledge to have. Also, thank you for showing us your larger project. Oftentimes, we don’t get to see the larger plan and it’s useful to know when imagining where the rooms fit into your larger structure. Have fun at the show!

The show was fun. I will show you a short impression of it next Friday. Yes, I realized I have rarely shown all of the rooms together. And while it all makes sense to me, it may not be clear to you as a viewer. Thank you, Dana!

Do you use a table sled with your saw? Ive never used one but hope to get one. curious how they work with cutting miniature. Your dollhouse is stunning. I absolutely love seeing your plans and processes. How you build. Very valuable knowledge. I learn so much from you. You really should publish a book. I too am very interested in that sliding door and how you did that.
@MakeMiniatures
@MakeMiniatures Жыл бұрын
Yes, I do! And actually, that's how I hurt my hand as the table sled was stuck, I pushed against it, came loose and it hit my other hand...hard...🙄 But generally, table sleds are very safe and useful. I will put that (and the sliding doors) on my list to show how it works, it's not difficult. Oh, I don't know about a book...But thank you for the compliment! I'm glad the videos are helpful to you.

I’m sorry to hear about your injury! In Canada, according to my partner, whom is a physiotherapist, your tape job looks like it is impeding the blood flow to your hand. Perhaps… a tensor wrap or bandage would be better…as it would allow for better blood flow. Ice is your friend. As is elevation. You are a trooper. Perhaps doesn’t translate well in Dutch. Colloquialisms aside; you are amazing and extremely appreciated. Take care.

I am so sorry you hurt your hand! It appears that changing the blade on the Brynes is a bit easier than on the Proxxon as on the latter you have to line up the blade to the washer type thing which isn't always apparent. Your dollshouse is stunning! Thank you for taking us along on your journey.

It certainly makes sense when building such a large and complicated house to work on one room at a time. I am intrigued on how you manage the transitions from one room to the next, especially when they are connected with a door. Is the door between the blue salon and the yellow salon a pocket door between the walls? What fun to decorate and build at the same time! Thank you for the ‘little peek’ into your build so far. Enjoy your visit to Arnhem.
@MakeMiniatures
@MakeMiniatures Жыл бұрын
Hi Coby, sorry I am a little bit late answering...It is easier to work on the rooms this way, but it does take some planning for those transitions. Yes, the doors between the yellow and blue salon are pocket doors. So, those two rooms are easy to connect, as the doors are attached to the blue room's walls and the yellow room just pushes up against it. Thanks! I had fun in Arnhem yesterday.

Question. I understand you use two table saws and keep a finer blade in Byrnes. Does Bryans cut deeper cuts with a more course blade like proxxon? Thank you.
@MakeMiniatures
@MakeMiniatures 11 ай бұрын
Sorry my answer is so late, I was away for a while. Yes, you can put a different blade in the Byrnes table saw, and raise and lower the blade. I keep the Proxxon with the courser blade because the Proxxon is just a little less precise than the Byrnes. But still good.
