Timestamps for Q&A. No shorts for this one, I am making this prior to shorts, so * are questions here, or clips. If you are early enough, this will probably be about 8 minutes off, wait about 8 minutes, it will be fixed, I promise. Should be fixed. Send some love to Dudae who is also starting to timestamp the episodes, and we are dividing the work up between the two of us. 9:10 Start 5:50 Subs 6:35 I get a shout out. That feels awkward. Also, the fact that I am working on this rather than episode 2 right now… at least episode 2 will be done before I post this. BTW, 30 stamps is a low stamped episode. 8:30 Intro 10:45 One of the saddest roll offs I have ever seen *11:10 Are the DnD characters close to your personalities? *13:50 Are there any aspects of your personality that you fight against while playing your character? (DM follow up) 18:00 Took the group a long time to learn that DnD tends to be free flowing. Full disclosure: I have totally walked into a session with a few flash cards for enemies, some basic scenery done and just go. Full dozens of minutes of dialogue and history and my players had no idea. *20:10 How did the process of designing the homebrews go? **Dudae's Question!! 26:45 They are doing something with cards called “Shut the box”. It is definitely something… yeah, I don’t know. *30:15 Short version: do you strategize outside the game, and is Matt not allowed in the chat? *Dudae again *36:50 What is your favorite encounter you made so far? To Matt *45:40 Favorite interaction with an NPC or party member? *52:40 How did you go about creating tabletopnotch? What was the scariest part? 1:01:25 Pugilism minigame *1:13:00 What sneak peaks can you give for season 2? Also regrets for season 1? *1:24:45 What is homebrew? (any campaign you see on youtube is heavily homebrewed) 1:27:40 Break 1:29:50 Break Ends 1:30:40 Anthony explains the robe. Kinda 1:32:00 First clip, genie temple 1:33:10 Explaining, before the clip, they wish they stole more shit in the temple *1:34:00 Genie clip 1:40:10 A deity clip, Anthony gives a synopsis *1:42:05 Opposing deities *1:51:15 Orba doesn’t want anything to do with Graven’s Deity 1:47:00 The joust, shit talking Anthony’s rolling abilities *1:58:20 The Joust. A Nat 1 on advantage. This is a 1 in 400 possibility. 2:02:35 Setting up lonely Orba *2:04:20 Orba with shady potion dealer, Furlan and a somehow less shady Mycrawl pusher, Stuckley *2:10:10 Summary, why is Erlan a deceptive son of bitch? *2:14:15 Safira’s morality has come into conflict with the party, how do you balance that against being a party pooper? *2:18:10 Where did Graven’s adversarial relationship with his deity come from? *2:25:00 What does Orba feel her place in the party is? *2:30:10 Threads that you are surprised the party did not follow? Question for DM *2:35:05 How often do you think about the campaign outside the sessions? *2:37:10 Does where your characters are now surprise you? Where do you think they are going as characters? *2:40:05 How did it feels for Erland to beat someone on extract? *2:43:50 Favorite NPCs that you played? *2:46:05 How have the relationships evolved between characters? *2:48:35 Where did you come up with the “fuck you Erland” thing? To Matt *2:50:10 What pokemon type would your character be? (apparently Matt is a multi-nerd, like all good DMs) *2:53:05 Favorite video game? (Anthony shouting out Twilight Princess made me love him so much more. I prefer OoT and Majora’s Mask, but TP is solid number 3 Zelda for me, and it is so underloved) 2:54:05 Season 1 of A Peak Beneath the Veil has more run time than The Simpsons (which is a couple years older than I am) 2:56:15 God of War 2018 was the basis for Graven. *2:57:45 Tips for being a DM? Personal tip: write everything down. I learned that way too late, my players are fastidious note takers so if I forget anything they will call me out on it. *3:00:05 Does this campaign have a foreseeable ending? Plans for the channel after that? (Note: they are on episode 100 and are level 5, I think we have a while yet before it ends.) 3:02:05 Talking about Benji, who was only in the unaired session 0 3:04:05 Fate or Fortune As always, if you have a moment I missed, I can add it either to the main text, or to a reply should this comment get pinned. From here out, I will be filling in the previous episodes with timestamps in an order that will seem scatterlogical, but every new episode will be posted fairly close to the post of the episode (I have a couple vacations this year, one of which is the wedding of my nephew, so those will be out late.) Eventually, all of the episodes will be stamped, but it may be as late as May of next year. For those in the way future, this will be meaningless to you, as all of them have it, but to those close to this post date, please be understanding. Also, thank you to Dudae for coming on and taking this task with me. Best wishes to this endeavour.

Whelp, see you all in three hours, I have to wait until after it is fully set before I can figure out the offset. The document is set, I just need to find out how much difference there is between twitch and youtube time. Love y'all see you soon. Also, to Jordan, 30 timestamps is low for anyone who stamps. Much love to Flando Maltrizian, who has done what I am doing now for almost 4 years, week after week, posting the moment the vid gets posted on Critical Role.

God damn. I just practically binged 100 episodes of you guys. Matt, you really are an amazing GM. Last episode you tried to deflect praise from your players, but you really should know that GMs like you are a really rare breed. The way you manage to handle a party splitting up that often and keep everyone engaged in their own story, keep them on their toes so they can't even get long rests, and the way you keep track of dozens and dozens of NPCs and somehow they're all unique is really, really special. I love all the players and miss BZ, too, but I always feel like the GM pulls a much heavier weight. So I feel the need to single you out for this specifically.

Just want to give props for the music on the last episodes leading up to the finale, super atmospheric and excellently set the tone for a lot of situations, the split between the party over the sh'kar thing gave heavy final fantasy vibes and the steel drum track, just awesome stuff. Props due, i do want to say I'm so glad i came back to revisit the end of season 1, I had to take a break after the whole sh'kar thig and when beezaura left, i got irritated at how quickly Safira and Erland turned their back on Graven, and frustrated about the mess beezaura left you all in. But super happy to be back on track. I somehow got it in my head that this "peak beneath the veil" wasnt going to continue because i was seeing the brunkhollow stuff, and I thought that this campaign had so much more to offer, like it almost felt underwhelming with how epic things could've become with the insane amount of threads to follow in so many directions. I also felt like our group should be stronger and have gotten more buff by the end of 100 episodes, But Matt knows what he's doing and I can't wait to start s2 and catch up fully. What a ride guys, thanks so much for putting out such a quality game. I really Love this campaign, characters and Matt's DMing style. Amazing work everyone and thank you for inspiring new players and sharing your game with us! Top notch, for certain.

Why does he feel the need to lie, obfuscate or otherwise speak in half-truths? What's his end goal? Are there deep-seated trust issues where he sees everyone, including the party, as a means to an end?" 2:14:39 "Erland, good guy 2022 - John Racioppo" 2:14:50 "Safira's moral compass and strict background seem to inform her decisions in such a way that sometimes it conflicts with everyone else in the party with more fluid outlooks. How do you balance keeping true to the character and not being a party pooper?" 2:18:23 "Clerics are often very in tune with their deities and their divine power derives from that relationship. Add to that that Graven is a very stoic and head-strong gentleman and you have the recipe for a "I don't need you but you need me" type of scenario. Whose idea was it to create such an adversarial back-and-forth between Graven and Q'usñi? Do you feel like that animosity has helped or hindered Graven and his ability to support those that depend on him?" 2:24:51 "Orba has always been seen as the object of the party's protection from the beginning but we've seen her do some major and very important things in order to help or save them, despite often not trusting herself and her abilities. How does she feel about her role in the party? What steps, if any, has she taken/will take to validate her place?" 2:30:31 "What's a thread you thought the party would follow / plot point they would investigate but ultimately didn't?" 2:35:01 "How often would you say you find yourselves thinking about the campaign during the week? Maybe a weird question, but do you think a 100 episode exercise in problem solving, heroicism, and persuasion helped you or changed your perspective outside the game at all?" 2:37:31 "The casts' characters have developed and changed in the month or so the party has traveled together. Does who your character is now suprise you? Do you think their motivations and goals will change from this point forward?" 2:40:35 Someone just asked an Erland question in chat 2:40:37 "Question for Erland: How did it feel to beat someone who was on extract - knowing that Erland was fully aware of what was happening?" 2:43:58 "Matt, what are some of your favourite NPCs you played?" 2:45:16 "What parts of Anti-Suyu were fun to create?" 2:46:04 Another live question: "We have a lot of Safira/Erland and Orba/Graven interactions, are you interested in exploring different relationships inside the party? 2:46:20 It was past 4am in France at the time this question was asked 2:48:41 "When did Matt come up with the "Fuck you Erland" in the note, and why?" 2:50:34 "What Pokémon type do you think each of your characters would be? You can do dual-type if you think it fits, Matt can do his favorite npc" 2:51:47 Matt has a hard time dealing with everyone butchering Pokémon type names 2:53:19 "Favourite videogames of all time?" 2:53:45 John answers correctly 2:54:20 "Did you know that at 353 hours, 41 minutes and 42 seconds (which is equivalent to 2 full weeks of non-stop content) the Season 1 Playlist of A Peak Beneath the Veil has a longer runtime than the entirety of The Simpsons, which sits at ~266 hours?" 2:56:35 God of War 2018 absolutely did NOT inspire Anthony when creating Graven 2:57:30 Jordan is rude to JAdam on KZfaq, asks their question anyway. 2:57:43 "Does Matt have any tips on being DM? Any programs or tips to keep the story flowing and how does he keep track of NPCs?" 3:00:09 "Does this campaign have a foreseeable ending? And if so, any plans for the channel after that?" 3:04:05 Graven's 'Fate or Fortune' to end the Q&A on 3:07:01 See you on Season 2 of tabletopnotch All these questions were pulled from the social networks, but mainly Discord. @tabletopnotch

Wow, what timing! we just posted a short kind of talking about this idea - but basically Matt has included some great homebrew elements that supplement the PCs as they live in lower-level-land. From Safira’s Wild Ordinance (a magical bow that helps her transform into animals on a hit), Erland’s septic abilities (plantlike abilities that can provide further boosting of already existing abilities or providing extra defenses) - even most recently with allowing our light domain cleric to exchange light spells for spells of other domains (it fits with his backstory nicely). Basically anything that lets a players skills expand laterally rather than linearly

With the conversation of how Graven’s god keeps track on him (because I’m sure I’m gonna butcher Kahoosnie’s spelling, [see 🥶]) I pictured it more like the Eye of Sauron. Except instead of it focusing on a “blip” whenever the ring showed up, more like he was comfortable so long as he sensed the constant blip, but as soon as that blip disappears the eye freaks out like it does when the ring drops into Mt Doom.

I understand you so well. Haven't caught up on stream yet, but the 13 hour difference scares me (still ready for it)

Hey Matt, I may be asking something that has been asked before but what is your inspiration for names and locales? It seems like there is some South American influence but I’m not very nuanced in cultural anthropology. I may be super wrong but if you see this could you let me know? I’ve been googling every combination of inspiration/origins and cast names and can’t find anything on fandom, or otherwise.

a lot of his names/locations are Quechuan inspired, so you are very much in the right area

~2:07:00 ... So, if you have a Krawling partner who is into such things, what would a sexual interaction on Mykrawl be like? I could see a medium strength dosage being mind-blowing in this situation. This isn't involving any of the characters, mind you. Just a thought based on stories I've heard from chemically adventurous friends. :-B

You invited everyone to dress up if they like. Or not as the case maybe. Not sure of the time, very early on.
