Just a brief show and tell showing some different types of bearings,
Also showing just how loud full ceramic bearings are, and how not all bearings are consistent from 1 to another. Plus showing how lubrication and cleanliness impact bearings as much as quality.

for fishing on the tx coast i knocked my shimano chronarch off my kayak into the dang bay. had "ceramic orange sealed boca's" BUT the dang outter race got some rust on the inside and some of inside of the orange seal got some rust on it . tried cleaning it out and soaking in pb blaster but it still feels gritty. how do the FULL ceramic bearings fair in saltwater?

Hi, Could someone please tell me where I can purchase descent quality bearings for my Shimano spinning reels? The line roller bearings have become very noisy on some of them. The Bearing part # is 13269 for several models of Shimano reels that I own and I don't want to spend alot of money if it is not necessary. Please let me know. Thanks, Tony

when installing new spool bearings (I have the upgraded unsealed kind where you can see the ball bearings on one side) does it matter if the bearings go in face down or face up?

I got Boca abex 7 can they be used dry over standard stainless bearings they seem to run better dry and cleaned in Zippo fluid

One of the reasons people say they cast "soooo" much further. The bearings they're replacing are dirty and they probably use hot sauce, and too much of it. Then they go to hybrids run dry and are blown away.

Tackle Advisors I used the Hot sauce it a thin oil as penn synthetic I like that it has a tiny application needle for that one little drop on standard bearings

Would running Bocas bearings dry decrease their life expectancy or is it same shield. Considering application would be for freshwater only

For freshwater. Remove the shields and run them dry. Add oil only to quiet them or slow them down a bit. I prefer to run mine dry otherwise you really arent gaining anything over a standard stainless bearing. Though if they are really abec 7's not some bs china bearing that just says they're abec 7. oiling will make them tighter over time as the burnished in oil builds up.

Tackle Advisors thanks for the reply, it was meant as a two part and forgot to add the 2nd part. Would running open shield or shielded shorten life? Or not much difference

It all comes down to if they stay clean. Fw bass fishing. it takes a bit to get debris into the spool bearings. But just get in a routine of cleaning them out every 5-10 outings.
