Finally!! I actually worked for a restaurant that use to throw away good food in front of employees who use to starve while they work hard

Been in the exact same boat, there's actually a new platform for restaurants fighting food waste! Definitely recommend checking out foodforall.com

The more people who share abundance rather than hoard it, the better of a place this planet will become.

I always make sure to use my food waste appropriately. I separate degradable scraps and place them into a compost heap, I then add straw, some warm water and mulch it for a few months until it breaks down into a soil-like substance. Then I throw it at my neighbour.

It's sad that the reason why companies dump the produce instead of distributing them to people who need it is because it's EXPENSIVE. When you're a business money comes first :/

Jimin's Left Eyebrow, Well they do have employees to pay.
@ErdeAnAlle6 жыл бұрын
It's not that expensive, I mean they have enough space in the parking lot out of rush hours, and volunteering people don't need to get paid, so the only real cost is a bit of effort. One somewhat reasonable business argument may be that people won't pay for food if they can get it for free, I'm not talking about very poor people who can't but people that want to save some money (who doesn't) and don't mind the little cosmetic issues. On the other hand these people may get into dumpster diving, like me and many did and still do.

Kamikatsu, Japan is a great story about the whole community setting a good example for the world on recycling
@jonglewongle34383 жыл бұрын
Nah. They are still capitalist a-holes. No cardboard recycling industries so that a few dickpots maybe occasionally reuse some of the boxes. Aluminium cans, none of which were manufactured from recycled aluminium. No PET bottle in Japan manufactured from recycled PEt, and which, in turn, must not be reprocessed into new PET bottles but only into creative disposal. The only environmentalism associated with Japan is that they find birth control a necessity from the territorial restrictions imposed on them. They are still over-populated on their crumby little territorial allotment.

The third one still makes you pay. That seems to go against what they claim to do.
@neetynayd28596 жыл бұрын
Ducky 「Nightcore」 .... Yes, you pay but you get more fruits and veggies, instead of buying expensive fruits and veggies from supermarkets... 60 pounds is a lot.... from what I have seen in the video, it is not a bad option at all... The foods are looking good and fresh, so why not.
@carlangelo6536 жыл бұрын
10 bucks. Its not bad, 60 pounds of food is enough to feed a family for a few days. Some people pay more than 10 bucks for a cup of coffee.
@1Surge5 жыл бұрын
I agree. It is not necessary bad to charge, however one must take into account how much súper markets make from every pound once you pay transport utilities employees and administration. If everyone goes to purchase to these places supermarkets close and farmers don’t sell and will stop producing. I could be wrong and only needy buy thus serving its purpose however if anybody can buy including potential client who can afford to pay full price and enough people buy this way they essentially are stealing the profit since they don’t pay producers, transport, employees or even many utilities. Like I said I don’t know enough it’s just an example.

The locally emitted carbon dioxide is not a direct local that would let the environment suffer *on a local scale*, of course it still contributes to climate change. The main reason why burning trash in small at home without proper filters, airflow, ventilation and sorting is a bad idea is because of toxic substances and bad smells going into the air, breathing those will most likely lead to heavy issues with lungs within decades of breathing, even within shorter times there are going to be many problems if breathed in directly. These effects depend on too many factors to tell for sure, but still not a good idea if you have any alternative.
