Explaining EVERY Regional Form in Pokemon

There are tons of regional forms in Pokemon, and they're here to stay! But what makes each and every one of them work? Why did Vulpix become an ice type or even an ice/fairy Ninetales? Why does Runerigous need 49 damage to evolve? Why was the Hisuan Growlithe so fluffy? I answer all this and more in this video!
Many of the answers or research I did was aided by simply looking at each of the Pokemon wikis and following up the research myself.

Great video! There are a few mistakes (saying Linoone is from Kanto, Unovan Samurott being water/fighting, skipping over Hisuian Typhlosion) but a great video nonetheless. Here's my sub.

The zigzagoon line I threw the text on screen for, I somehow completely missed the Samurott thing, and to remedy Typhlosion I actually just released a video for it by itself! Wugtrio =Convergent evolution where an entirely separate species can evolve to resemble other species because of the areas requiring an similar type of evolution to survive in those areas
@-Gax-
@-Gax- Ай бұрын
Convergent evolution is where two (or more) species fill the same ecological niche, therefore developing the same traits entirely independently. The thing about convergent Pokemon and regional Pokemon (or animal) is that they both did the same thing to achieve their form. Darwinian evolution to suit its environment. I think that's fun.

I find it very clever that they'd start to delve into the realistic take on pokemon. Showing how geospatial spwciation can effect certain pokemon overtime is particularly clever since every region is a reference of different places, not every pokemon will stay the same. Lets hope for some fossil ansestors of pokemon someday!

Alolan Exeggutor more closely resembles a coconut tree or tropical palm tree. Its Dragon type may be a reference to the Dracaena genus of trees. It may also be a pun inspired by the Coca, a dragon whose name shares the same origins as the word coconut. Its dramatically larger size may also reference island gigantism.

I'm surprised there was no mention of the theory that the Galarian Legendary Birds are convergent instead of divergent. The Pokedex does seem to imply it with its specific wording. It wouldn't even be the first time a convergent Pokemon was misidentified since the Pokedex also says that Wiglett used to be considered a Paldean Diglett

Alolan Persian’s head is a reference to the phrase getting a big head it’s got nothing to do with inbreeding
@KrillikVA
@KrillikVA Ай бұрын
"Unlike the normal Persian, Alolan Persian appears to be based more on domestic cats that underwent selective breeding, specifically those owned by royalty. In particular, its appearance greatly resembles a British Shorthair, an imported breed known well for its large and rounded head and pronounced 'smile', which the breed developed through artificial selection as part of the process of developing its pedigree. Its blue jewel and gray fur may be a visual pun on the "British Blue" color variant. Due to its large head and mannerisms, it may also be a visual pun on the term of being "big-headed"." We can both be correct Selective breeding is also done with dogs to make them smaller or cause certain desirable traits, this can often be done with inbreeding as well by uncaring individuals which in turn causes many health defects such as pugs having breathing problems.

Wild theory idea: What if Galarian Mr. Mime's branch of evolution isn't necessarily paradoxical. What if the reason it says Mime Jr developed that way by enjoying Mr Rime dancing is because there exists an independent line of Mr Rime that either never evolved from Mr Mime or came about in some other way. Sinistea could be looked at in a similar way to this idea, stamped and unstamped while being similar technically have different evolution methods, so might be considered two different versions the way this hypothetical Mr Rime is. But my thought is that because Mime Jr is known to mimic and evolves when it learns the move. Maybe they diverged in evolution form because they were specifically mimicking this original, proto, Mr Rime that existed prior to Galarian Mr Mime. Making that branch of evolution some kind of pantomime of what a Mr Rime originally was.

@@madnessarcade7447 well this was a fair assumption since both definitions for “cyborg” & “athlete” commonly involve the word “human” Also there are many reported cases of people turning into Pokemon in the lure. So for me this is neither hear nor there. At the end of the day , they went out of their way to avoid mentioning any relation to Hariyama. So again my point remains the same. What if Zoroak were hunted for their warm scarves in the cold region of Hisui? This caused them to become ghosts with luff lush flocks of mane that can never be used. They trick hunters into attacking them before using something like bitter malice or phantom force. I also think it’s a cool theory because what if Zoroak adapted to have the illusion ability so that they could get what they want, while avoiding getting hunted.
