hey brah great video. your shirt and slippah went seal the deal as one true Hawaiian mechanic. I'm currently doing the same thing and I hope this helps others, but I have a 2000 Tacoma v6 prerunner and just note that yours didn't have the abs ring as mine does and all that bearing and abs ring and axle seals have to be pressed off with a special tool. Also if you use a rubber mallet to hit the drum it will come off as well as opening the filler port on the diff fluid will get it to drain real fast. u did a awesome job and I look forward to other videos. mahalo braddah iworkforbudlight.

oh my gosh i wish i could do this myself! i just found out my axle seals are leaking too. toyota charges an arm and a leg for anything they do. I had broken a spring under my seat for the airbag and toyota charged 115$ just to look at my truck and diagnose it [which all they did was plug in the computer to the data link read the codes] that took them about an hour and for 115$ then wanting 300$ for the new spring. stealerships are the devil.

You give it a good shake when the tires are still bolted to the vehicle in case it does fall off the Jack, you don't damage the vehicle and you can then reposition the Jack and stand properly. If you do it the way you did it, the vehicle will be on the floor with no way to reposition the Jack and you possibly damaged something as it hit the ground.

Is it possible to just remove the axle and replace the axle seal if you know that is leaking? Or is replacing the bearings necessary and that would just be a bandaid on a bigger problem? Ultimately, I know my axle seals are leaking, but I have no indication the wheel bearings are bad. I don't necessarily want to replace everything else if that isn't necessary.
