Great video I'm in the process of installing these RAGO Hood Ditch Light Brackets in place of RAGO'S regular Ditch Light Brackets where they're placed underneath the plastic windshield cowl on the 2015 2nd. generation Tacoma's and require removing the wiper blade arms and cutting the ends off of the cowls for the brackets to fit correctly. I did this and had a feeling water would get inside the cab because when the cowl ends are cut you lose full coverage. Well sure enough every time it rained the passenger side got soaked good thing I have Husky floor mats because they caught all the water. I had to go out and purchase a new cowl $275.41 so this week that's my project to install the new cowl and hood brackets. Thanks for this video.

Michael, that sucks! I actually ordered the cowl mounted ones 1st as well and was JUST getting ready to start cutting and was like, nope I don’t want to cut up my cowl...I like the hood mounts way better, and they are lower profile which I like better too.

@@PottersWork Glad to hear they're lower profile too because as you know the 2015 Tacoma's have thick pillars and you really have to look carefully when turning corners so every little helps with lower profile brackets. Thanks again.👍👍

Its easier to put ur light brackets on to ur hood brackets first. So u dont have to fight to get a wrench on it when ur puuting the pod lights on the brackets.

Great video. I also added lights. I connected them but haven’t gotten to the switch so that, that lights up when I turn on the lights. Couldn’t you have spliced into the factory fog light switch to give juice to your new switch so it would light up with your lights?

Nick, I don't usually like splicing into my factory wiring unless I have no other option. Just my preference to use the fuse box circuit. That being said, I didn't really look into the fog switch as a power source when I was doing this, so I can't say for sure how easy it would be to splice to. The fuse box option was relatively easy to get to as well since it's right there. The ditch lights are probably one of my favorite mods...I use them all the time, I think you will too!

when wiring to the battery all I have at the end of the connections are a positive(with a fuse) and negative end that are also attached to a relay, would I connect the positive to an empty fuse block and the negative cable I would ground? I'm confused on how that would complete the connection for the lights to work

Alejandro, you will connect the positive (with the fuse) to a 12v power source. That could be the battery itself or that could be another power source if you can find one. Sometimes there is a positive stud somewhere off your battery that you can connect accessories to. You will then connect your ground wire to the chassis somewhere, the best place I have found is just use the same bolt that your battery is grounded to. Just follow the black battery cable to where it is grounded. Once you have done that, you will just need to wire up the rest of the stuff (relay, switch, lights etc.)

Saxambir Singh, I am not sure if they would work with a RAV...I just did a quick Google search though for “Rav 4 ditch light brackets” and a few do come up. Might be worth looking into!

Those connections need to go to the battery directly.. Period.

Ram, what’s the reasoning for that? These aren’t a high draw light. They are pulling 2 amps total. If it was an amp, or some larger incandescent bulbs I would go to the battery itself, but with such a low voltage accessory I don’t see the need.

@@PottersWork I would actually like to try and wire them the way you did without the battery but I don't quite understand how you did it. like where you connected the negative and positive fo power if not on the battery.

Alejandro, the place I got the power from was just an empty fuse spot for an unused circuit. It has power to the stud that’s recessed below, you just have to slide a female blade connector over it. Make sure you have an in-line fuse on your power supply like I do to prevent shorting out that circuit. I just grounded to the body (same place the battery grounds to) but you can ground anywhere else typically that has a good clean metal surface you can attach to (other bolts or metal frame structures in the vehicle). Does that help?

Alejandro, you can also install an auxiliary fuse block in the engine compartment to run your accessories off of. I ended up doing this in my 4Runner that I’m currently driving. It’s a much cleaner install and it’s nice having everything right in the same spot.

@@PottersWork Thank you, i might look into the auxiliary fuse box, currently, i also have two small light bars on my roof rack that i had just wired straight to the battery but i don"t really like that method.
